So that works, but how do I display multiple things, CustomerID & CustomerName on the same line?
I can't get it going, it only puts my CustomerName under the ID
I'm making a database app. I've finish the search, add new, and add function. What I'm trying to do is to expand the functionality of the add new item function.
Ok, so I`ve been studying a bit of VB lately.. bought a few books and read lot`s of articles and seen hours of instructional videos, and I slightly start to get the hang of a few things.. :) I`ve recently started a fun little project, but I seem to lack a bit of knowledge to reach my goal. I`ll first try to describe my project:
I am displaying four fields from a access database. This code displays the records in listbox4. Me.ListBox4.DataSource = DB Me.ListBox4.DisplayMember = "fldRecNo" Using the doubleclick event, I would like to display on a label the record number that I doubleclick. Windows 7 and VB 2008
I just starting coding in VB.net about two weeks ago so I'm still a begging and I learn best by seeing working code and then adapting it to my situation. That being said, I need help displaying table entries in a listbox. I've successfully created a database in my test application, added it to my Data Sources and used a drag / drop method to add Datagrid View & Details (labels & textboxes) to my application for testing purposes. Now I want to try and display table entries in a listbox.
Also is there any benefit or down side to creating a database in MS Access, create the relationships & tables, then attaching that database to my application or is it better to create the database in the application like I did in the example above by using the Add New - Service-Based Database option?
I am working on a media player, and I would like to setup a local playlist feature. I am using a single ListBox and its "Display-" and "Value-Member" properties. The display is the song's Artist and Name, and the value is the song's file path (i.e 'C:UsersUSERMusicetc.').To write the file path to the .txt file, I believe I can use the following code:[code]
I am making a program, obviously, and I require some assistance. I found an explanation on how to read information from a Text file and have modified it for my needs. Here is my (modded) version:
Public Function GetInfo(ByVal playlistname As String) As String On Error Resume Next Dim PlaylistInfo As String
how to correlate info from a textbox based on a listbox item selection. For example the user will select an item from the listbox, enter say the length of a song in the textbox say 2:00 for song #1, select say song #2, enter the song time for that song say 3:00, click on song #1 again and have the same textbox display the length of that song and be able to do that until there are no more songs on the list.
I have a listbox displaying sql results in a loop. Let's say I want to select one of those results and click a delete button. I have the button and box setup displaying the results just fine, I just do not have the functionality. How would I do that?
So, I'm working on a custom LitBox that accepts custom items. needed the item collection to be more than just strings, I needed to be able to store avalue to display in the listbox and an associated value (Property: Text) that holds an index value (Property: Tag) of DataTable I'm working with.I have created the new item (iListBoxItem) and the collection (iListBoxItemCollection) and have modified everything so that I can do normal Collection type methods (Add, InsertAt, RemoveAt, etc) to this collection.
vb Imports System.ComponentModel Public Class iListBox
how could one insert in a form popping up info boxes. I used mousehover event but the only idea was to display a messagebox. What I mean is like the info boxes displayed in visual studio when the mouse pointer is in the area above an object or a function etch. This is a sample code so far:
Imports System.Math Public Class Form1 Private Sub FillValues(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
I'm trying to write a jukebox application as part of my undergraduate coursework at university, and have hit a brick wall. Using while loops, I'm trying to display tracks/songs under particular genres, as listed in a simple text file, from which the programme reads. The issue is, although I can get the columns to be named after the appropriate genres, as stated in the text file, the songs are read, and placed in the first column, regardless. I can't seem to get them to move to the next column, when the previous genre is finished.[code]
I have a text box in a program and it is working as I want/need it to with 1 exception... Is there a way to make it output on? I do not want it accessible to users to put information into it - it is for displaying info from an internal calculation not for input from user. If this is possible, what do I need to do to do it?
I have a table being imported into my VB application that has 3 columns. I have written code to import the table, and have written code to display on the first column (country) in a list view.
What I want to do now is have the user select / highlight an item in the list view, and have the third column (currency) related to that selected country appear in a text box when a button is clicked.
Here's the code I've written that successfully imports the data and displays the first column:
Private Sub frmCountry_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim dataCountry As New DataTable()

Should I perhaps use something other than a list view?
I have database like this [URL]but I will need to display only certain columns, which will depend on which user has logged in. Each user will have a unique ID, and so I want that that datagridview would only display the rows, which are for him, well have his ID, so that he couldn't see other users information, but only the one associated with him.I also need to output that user's forename and surename into label, it is stored in the database.
I want to be able to use this program to filter through a list of doctors, and based on what doctor you select, only show the patients who see that doctor. Here is what I have so far, the database has a column with just the doctor names so I thought I should be able to filter it by that and show the patients, but none show up. I don't get an error and it seems to refresh, but nothing ends up in the schedule.
vb Public Structure ScheduleOwner Dim _doctorname As String Dim _description As String
[code]....
Actually I just realized I don't think I loaded the data from the database as the form loaded. I tried doing that, but get an error where I called for the data to be loaded. I added the code where I try loading the databases."No value given for one or more required parameters."
Well, just struggeling to decice on which would suit my situation best. I am developing a simple app to show a log of radio messages. Should I display these in a listview or in a datagridview? What is the actual difference?
I had done this by using the query builder (in VS Studio) but soon found out thay I gain no points by doing it this way as I am not using any code. I have tried to adapt the code I had to insert data into my database, just changing the SQL sintaxa and some other bits, but it is not working yet. Well, it gives results, but I think it is still geting the results from the query I had built using the query builder. Here is the code I've got so far:
Public Class Form2 Private Sub btn_search_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_search.Click Dim str_search As String = txt_search.Text Dim str_dob As String = txt_dob.Text
Private Sub frmStudentScores_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load ListBox1.Items.Clear() ListBox1.Items.Add("Joel Murach|97|71|83") ListBox1.Items.Add("Doug Lowe|99|93|97")
[code]....
The code works accept for the txtScoreTotal I need to Add the Numbers together but all it does is For Example Joel Murach|97|71|83 it will put 977183 Instead of actually adding them together.
this is a library management system, i dont know why it doesnt work, my code in the issue form is just the same as the return form but it doesn't work right here. it just populate the listbox with the info. from the database. my code is here,
Dim nnn As Integer Dim mmm As Boolean Dim xxx As Integer
I have 2 forms 1 that shows a name in a txtbox and Scores in a Listbox and the other form takes the selected score when you press the select button and you can change. Now I have it to where the old score is removed but when i replace it with the new score it doesnt appear in the same spot as the old score.[code]...
The problem is that it only adds to the text file it's suppose to read from, but instead of adding 4 strings into my listbox. Can someone figure out what's wrong with my code, and provide me the correct syntax for it. This is in a sub after click of a button in vb.2008.
I've made a listbox and imported multiple paths into it (writing the app in VB.NET 2.0).For example:
C:Path1file1.txt C:Path2file2.txt C:Path3file3.txt (varies depending on what the user selects)
I need to be able to grab each path seperately without having to get the user to select a particular item so i can do a batch of all the paths selected.
How do I get my info from a .txt from my website to load into my listbox?! Like if I were to do this... Try Dim client As New Net.WebClient client.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password") ListBox1.Items.Add(client.DownloadString("ftp:public_html/listboxitems.txt")) Catch ex As Exception MsgBox("Error : " + ErrorToString(), MsgBoxStyle.Critical) End Try It just adds a straight line of my multi lines that are in the .txt file...
I have 3 textboxes that each gonna have something written in it.Say like.
Textbox1: Jonny textbox2: Tennis Textbox3: 1986
Now. I transfer this to a listbox. Now, when i press the saved item in listbox, I want textbox 1 , 2 and 3 to show up in 5 , 7 and 8.How to I get this to work?
