I am making a Bingo game. I have a button which keeps on calling numbers which are then added to a list box. How do i make it that the numbers called don't repeat (get displayed in the "number called" label). Is there a way to use items already added in the list box to eliminate duplicate numbers.

View 2 RepliesI have been working on a pythagorean theorem calculator and am actually stuck on the final bit of code. What I am trying to do is check the values (integers) inside a listbox, remove duplicate number (both values), and input one of the values into a textbox.
Here is an example of what I am doing:

When the program runs, check listbox value #1 and listbox value #2, if listbox value #1 and #2 match (2 & 2), input that value (not both duplicates) into a variable, remove both of the duplicate values, continue checking the rest of the values, and finally multiply the leftover values. I am sure that sounds confusing. Here is what the final output will look like

All of values are whole numbers and I'm trying to add together all the items in the listbox (the numbers) and then display them in a textbox. I have searched, and tried several things but each time I try to add them together, it states that my items are strings. How to sum listbox items and/or convert them out of strings?

View 5 RepliesI have a code that generates random code using a set of letters. One for a random pin and another for a random code. I can loop the generation of my codes depending on the input. When I try to generate 1 to 3 set of codes it works fine. but if it's 4 and above. I always get a duplicate set of random numbers. I don't what wrong. My code for generating my codes are in vb.net and be passed to a stored procedure for inventory.

I have a listbox with the numbers from 1 to 20 in it. If I add one of these 20 numbers, the number should be added in the richtextbox and they should be counted together with the last outcome I had. And this new outcome should be shown in label "lblTotal. If I add a new number into the richtextbox with this button. This new number should be added under the last number in the richtextbox and it should counted with the last outcome I had. This way I can count how many points I have.
I have a program where you have three entries, CD name, artist, price and it goes into a listbox and .txt file when closing. I have to have a message box if you enter the same CD name. I have a code to open the .txt file and compare strings but I need to change it to compare only the CD name and not all three entries. Is there a way to do my string compare against my listbox without opening the .txt file?? The program loads the listbox from the .txt file when opening. Problem is inside TimeTaken Function, inside the For.. Until. Basically the If... Then Statement. I tried. .contains, Select Case, and a few other alternatives.
My program is half a formulator, and half ordering system. Where I get stuck is the ordering system part. In one screen I have 5 check boxes that you can check for which products you want to order. The products you checked then get sent to another screen and put into a list box with a quantity variable that starts at 1 attached to it. Now, if you check the same product again, another time through the program, as of now, quantity accumulates to 2, which is good, that's what I want. My problem is I want quantity to keep accumulating, right now it accumulates to 2, then on a third pass through the program,it duplicates the entry, so now in the list box has the original product and quantity of 2, and another entry that has the product with quantity of 2. 't quite understand how they work. Here's the code:

I'm trying to add a string to a listbox if there is none exact string existed inside, but it turns out a very weird error. Look at this.
On form_load, I have this:

The output is when I connect the first client, it works fine. But, when I try to connect the second client, it prints out three times both the listbox1 item and the txtDisplay. It's like get caught in loop, but I have tried other kind of loops like for each and other string comparison too, still work that way.
How would one go about checking a listbox's items for duplicates? Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:

When you complete everything but choose cash as the payment method and click place order, the message box pops up with the GetErrorList caption "Please Complete the following:" BUT there is no error reported after. I'm losts, I know, it's probably terribly written to begin with but I'm all of a week in to the class so I will get there.
