how to eliminate duplicate random numbers displayed in labels ( a column of 5 labels). This is for a BINGO game i am doing. I have tried a Do .. Loop until structure with a for next but i am not sure how to proceed:

So basically I'm making a BINGO game on vb 2008 and i have a "call number" button. The letter and numbers get added to a list box each time. But i do not want the same number to be called. Is there a way that the program can read the items in the list box and not generate (Randomly) the same value again to be displayed in the label.This is what i have:

I have done allot so far but now im stuck on this:
1. i have 35 picture boxes on my form
2. i have a folder with 49 images (.png) 7 colors * 7 numbers = 49
3. i have 2 timers 1st set to 3min. second to 2 min.
evrything is good so far what i need to do is when timer 2 starts to start drawing the balls (images) from the folder
It needs to be random and only 1 image each round
I dont get it done sitting 2 days watching youtube videos and googeling about it and still nothing i got it that far that it shows random images but then i get same image 4 or 5 times on the form.

I have a code that generates random code using a set of letters. One for a random pin and another for a random code. I can loop the generation of my codes depending on the input. When I try to generate 1 to 3 set of codes it works fine. but if it's 4 and above. I always get a duplicate set of random numbers. I don't what wrong. My code for generating my codes are in vb.net and be passed to a stored procedure for inventory.

View 7 RepliesI have just about completed a .NET project to write a program to randomly select numbers for a Bingo caller. Over the last month or so Ive learned a lot about .NET but heres something that I consider to be odd and maybe one of you guys can offer an opinion.
One of the features of calling Bingo in a small local club is that callers often use little sayings to accompany certain numbers, I expect youve all heard of (say) All the sixes, clickety click for 66 or 5 and 9 the Brighton line for 59 etc. My little program gives an option to incorporate these with a prompt for the caller that can be edited outside of the program. One of these conventional sayings is used when a number is reversed 12 followed by 21 or 45 followed by 54 for example, when the caller might call (say) 1 and 2, one dozen, number 12 And the other way round 2 and 1, twenty one.
So, I programmed in a bit of code to detect this and to over-ride whatever might otherwise have been the quote with And the other way round and set about testing it. Ive been through literally dozens of full 90 calls watching for the occurrence of a reversed number, spent a few hours doing it, and not once has it occurred which is to say the least, unusual.
So, Im wondering about the Rand Function, could it be that it isnt possible for a reversed number to be selected? Just so you know, I randomly pre-select the order of all 90 numbers, I fill each of the 90 elements of an array with a random number first checking that the number selected hasnt already been stored, if it has, I just get the next random number (and check that too of course), but I cant see how that could prevent reversed numbers being selected, especially in light of the fact that frequently it's not the 'next' number that's used.
I have a text box where I only want to be able to enter each character once, so no AA or 99, only one of each character. This is so I can paste into the field, but where any duplicates would be eliminated. I've tried using this code, but am not sure where I go wrong.

I have created the random bingo calls needed with the standard bingo letter restrictions.. i.e. B = 1 - 15, I = 16 - 30, etc. I have a form with 5 columns with B I N G O at the top and the corresponding numbers beneath. Those are labels named lblB1, lblB2, etc.
My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to get get the text to change on the called tiles. Logically it would be easiest to use something like

Where varCalled is the ball number being called.But.. that is not the case. I'm trying to create a typical Housie/Bingo Game ticket in Asp.net 2.0 (VB). But, not being succeeded. Ticket contains 3 row with 9 columns. Total 27 blocks, and it must be only 15 should be fill outta those 27. and each column contains value like 1st column should be between 1-10 and 2nd must have random values between 11-20.. Here's my issue:I have a list of check-boxes listing off the different intervals that I want potentially hear when I click btnPlay. i.e., if every musical interval's checkbox is checked, I want it to potentially play any interval (unison - octave). Easy.However, if I uncheck "unison" I want my random number x to be not equal to my random number y (x <> y)If I uncheck minor 2nd, I want random number x and random number y to never be 1 number apart (x - y <> 1)?

I have created a scrabble game that generates random letters. For the user to type in a word using the random letters they have to type it in a text box.
I want my program to prevent users from typing in letters that are not provided in the text box and to allow them to type in the random letters that are provided.
The class Random is out right defective. It always produces the same random numbers in the same sequence. Things I have tried so far is every kind of seed you can think of as well as Randomize. The result is that I always get the same random numbers in exactly the same sequence.

I don't take programming lessons at school or anything, and I'm starting to (try to) teach myself about random things.Currently I'm making an app that has 3 functions:
-Random Integer (1 to 100)
-Random Answer (Yes or No, similar to a coin flip)
-Random Dice Roll (1 to 6)

I have been working on a pythagorean theorem calculator and am actually stuck on the final bit of code. What I am trying to do is check the values (integers) inside a listbox, remove duplicate number (both values), and input one of the values into a textbox.
Here is an example of what I am doing:

When the program runs, check listbox value #1 and listbox value #2, if listbox value #1 and #2 match (2 & 2), input that value (not both duplicates) into a variable, remove both of the duplicate values, continue checking the rest of the values, and finally multiply the leftover values. I am sure that sounds confusing. Here is what the final output will look like

Basically, I want to divide two numbers together and they should be 2 random numbers from 1-12 (I have done that part) but, the answer should be a whole number (i.e. Integer, so no decimal points etc) So, I did the following:

but the problem here is that the program crashes after only a few clicks on the button. So I guess the question is: How can I make the program generate two numbers (from 1-12) that when divided become a whole number?(Is there any code that may tell the random generator that I want the numbers to be even?-so all even numbers from 1-12?)
