I want to shuffle the numbers in each column of _bingoNums(,)I've included the code I've tried thus far that dosen't work.

I have just about completed a .NET project to write a program to randomly select numbers for a Bingo caller. Over the last month or so Ive learned a lot about .NET but heres something that I consider to be odd and maybe one of you guys can offer an opinion.
One of the features of calling Bingo in a small local club is that callers often use little sayings to accompany certain numbers, I expect youve all heard of (say) All the sixes, clickety click for 66 or 5 and 9 the Brighton line for 59 etc. My little program gives an option to incorporate these with a prompt for the caller that can be edited outside of the program. One of these conventional sayings is used when a number is reversed 12 followed by 21 or 45 followed by 54 for example, when the caller might call (say) 1 and 2, one dozen, number 12 And the other way round 2 and 1, twenty one.
So, I programmed in a bit of code to detect this and to over-ride whatever might otherwise have been the quote with And the other way round and set about testing it. Ive been through literally dozens of full 90 calls watching for the occurrence of a reversed number, spent a few hours doing it, and not once has it occurred which is to say the least, unusual.
So, Im wondering about the Rand Function, could it be that it isnt possible for a reversed number to be selected? Just so you know, I randomly pre-select the order of all 90 numbers, I fill each of the 90 elements of an array with a random number first checking that the number selected hasnt already been stored, if it has, I just get the next random number (and check that too of course), but I cant see how that could prevent reversed numbers being selected, especially in light of the fact that frequently it's not the 'next' number that's used.
I am trying to shuffle an array of numbers it is randomizing but the numbers are been repeated is not what I need., I need the array to be shuffled but keeping the same numbers.For example if I do a first shuffle numbers may look like this in random order
2,4,5,1,3
Next shuffle maybe
3,5,4,2,1 and so on
But my problem is it repeating e.g. like this.
0,3,3,4,5 or 4,5,5,3,3

View 7 Repliesi am trying to find out how it shuffles the number 1, 2, 3 and 4 without repeating the same number within the series. So far, I think that "i" begins as 1 and RN is a randomized number between 1 and 4. The do while loop checks if "i" is the same as RN and spits out the flag as true or false. Then "i" is increased 1 at a time and so does the number of elements in the array. I believe that the array a(4) and the for loop does something that "remembers" the same numerical value not to be repeated. I'm not sure exactly what the for loop does and how the flag make this thing work.
Lets say, a case where i=1 and the RN=3, the flag becomes false. Therefore, a(1)=3. Then, i increments by 1 and a(j) becomes a(2), which puts out the values 1 and 2. Since both numbers are flag=false, it increments again. Because a(i) = RN, a(2) becomes = 3. How can this be? It has a(1) equal to 3 and a(2) also equal to 3. Each array is supposed to have NON-OVERLAPPING numbers.
The result of doing shuffle() is a random set of numbers that don't overlap:
1234, 1243, 1342, 1324, 2341, 3412, 4321, 3214, and so on.
but never 1111, 1112, 3333 or 3242.
To find out how exactly it works, I tried to delete some lines, tweak the numbers. The result of that is either numbers change to repeats, all zeros or a logical error. The following is the code placed in the module and can be used for other forms and in this case it is used for the labels in form1 windows form:

how to eliminate duplicate random numbers displayed in labels ( a column of 5 labels). This is for a BINGO game i am doing. I have tried a Do .. Loop until structure with a for next but i am not sure how to proceed:

I have done allot so far but now im stuck on this:
1. i have 35 picture boxes on my form
2. i have a folder with 49 images (.png) 7 colors * 7 numbers = 49
3. i have 2 timers 1st set to 3min. second to 2 min.
evrything is good so far what i need to do is when timer 2 starts to start drawing the balls (images) from the folder
It needs to be random and only 1 image each round
I dont get it done sitting 2 days watching youtube videos and googeling about it and still nothing i got it that far that it shows random images but then i get same image 4 or 5 times on the form.
I am developing one desktop app for printing Bingo Tickets, Can you please help or provide any links to guide me on how to print the tickets.I am able to generate the required random numbers, what is best way to put the numbers in table format and print them as shown in the picture.

View 5 RepliesI have created the random bingo calls needed with the standard bingo letter restrictions.. i.e. B = 1 - 15, I = 16 - 30, etc. I have a form with 5 columns with B I N G O at the top and the corresponding numbers beneath. Those are labels named lblB1, lblB2, etc.
My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to get get the text to change on the called tiles. Logically it would be easiest to use something like

Where varCalled is the ball number being called.But.. that is not the case. i created a media player in vb.net. i have a listbox as playlist. My problem is i have picturebox1 in which if i have to click shuffle the items in the playlist (listbox) will shuffle songs. Also, the playlist must automatically play songs.

Now, I want it to play all of the files that they selected in a random order when the user clicks "Button12." After all the files have been played, I want it to start over and play all of them in a random order again. I don't want it to stop until the user clicks "Button13." View 4 RepliesI have handed this assignment in and it works albeit not in the most elegant way. I am taking my second programming class ever and I would love for some feedback and answers to a few questions i have. First, what would be a better way to display the correct image to the corresponding card. Using all those if statements seems ridiculous, but i cant see a way around having card 1 possibly equal each value from every suit, card 2 equal each value from every suit, etc.
Second, my professor wants us to be able to record the seed value so that we could then plug it back in and return the hand that was shown when it was created. i have done this but I am a bit confused. The seed shows up as a value from 0-999, but when you use the combination formula to figure the total possible amount of hands you get over 2.5 million. Since i only have 1000 seed values does that mean that multiple hands might share the same seed value or does that number (0-999) mean something different eache time? Sorry if my explaination seems confusing.
Third, I am always looking for advice on better ways to do things. If anyone has free time and would like to offer constructive critisism I would be grateful.Below is the code. I only left in picturebox display for 1 suit so as to shorten the total amount shown. I also removed code for other buttons and stuff.

Basically my program has a "shuffle" music feature:

When I click one, it makes the program stop responding. I'm pretty sure it is the .WaitToComplete mode, but I can't find a way to make it continuously play without it. If you can find my error. Also if you could tell me a way to make the shuffle never play the same song twice, that would be awesome as well.
Not sure if this is the right thread place or not.And I've been designing an Mp3 player. I've ran across several things that I would love to know how to fix.
1. It won't play the next song when one ends.
2. Click and drag media files into the playlist.
3. Shuffle button would be awesome.

I'm trying to create a typical Housie/Bingo Game ticket in Asp.net 2.0 (VB). But, not being succeeded. Ticket contains 3 row with 9 columns. Total 27 blocks, and it must be only 15 should be fill outta those 27. and each column contains value like 1st column should be between 1-10 and 2nd must have random values between 11-20.. It doesn't matter how many blocks filled in each column.. 1 is must, no single column should be blank, all 9 columns must be filled, some have all 3 blocks filled, some have 1 with total of 15 blocks filled in whole ticket. with random numbers..

So how would I use .next (random numbers) to randomly select something from a list of numbers but it can't repeat the number?I could do:

View 1 RepliesI am making a program, where the user enters 6 numbers in 6 different text boxes, and it displays the larger of those 6 numbers. But I also want to make it where if the user enters a string value (like S for instance) in the text boxes, it gives an message and says "please enter the numbers again" and the user gets to enter the 6 numbers again. But when I do try to do that, it gives an error message saying conversion from "w/e the user entered" to Double is not valid. If the user just enters the numbers, it works fine. However, I am trying to make it if the user does enter non numeric value, it gives a message window and the user can reenter the numbers again.

This is where I am trying to use IsNumeric to show a message if a user does not enter a string so the user can renter the numbers again, but when the user does enter a string value (say in textbox 1) it gives me an error message saying conversion from "S" to 'double' is not valid.

Then right here this is where I have my series of ifs statements, this part works fine, it displays the largest numbers of the 6 textboxes every time. Error free.

I know there are easier ways to do these with arrays and stuff. But I am not there yet. I am still learning about ifs and stuff.

However when my results are displayed, the numbers are all stacked on top of each other like this: 011235813213455. I have tried to play with it but i can't seem to get my numbeers to space out or even maybe have a comma "," betweeen each number.[code]
