VS 2008 For Loop - Changing Panel Number Each Time?
Dec 22, 2009
For Each Ctrl As Control In Panel20.Controls
If TypeOf Ctrl Is CheckBox Then
CType(Ctrl, CheckBox).Checked = False
ElseIf Ctrl.HasChildren = True Then
Uncheckboxes(Ctrl)
End If
Next
I have a few panels that contain the controls, how can I check them all at once rather than use that code above and just change the panel number each time? It'll get pretty messy if I have to keep pasting all that code and just changing one number.

The code below finds a string from a text file and, if the correct month, - Monthcheck1, adds it as an item to an unsorted ListBox. I want to run through the text file again to find data for the next month. If I repeat this code for MonthCheck2, nothing is added. My question is: What is the convention for looping through the same file a second or third time?

I want to loop through all the controls on a "panel" and bind them to a datatable. I'm finding it hard to detect the "end of the panel" - as I also have group boxes and such on the panel. At first I was using the "parent" control - but that doesn't work with group boxes.

I am constructing a program, i am new to Visual Basic, but i have past programming experience. I was wondering if anyone knew how to form a loop that could...lets say calculate the answer when two numbers are added together, and it would repeat this thousands of times, etc. And if there is a way, would it be possible to calculate the time taken to complete this loop.

I have a panel inside a formview that is supposed to become visible when a checkbox (also inside the formview) is checked. I am able to access the controls, but I'm not sure how to actually make it work. This is my codebehind so far, I know it's not right, but it gives a basic idea of what I'm trying to do.[code]

I have a parent panel with child panels that contain images. I am looping through the panels to save the images in the order the panels appear in the parent panel. [code] I can also re-arrange the panels via mouse. The problem is that when they are rearranged, they do not retain their order when saved.. They simply are saved in the order they were added to the parent panel. So my question is, does the for loop use the index set when adding the panel? If so, how can I manipulate the index in runtime while arranging the panels via mouse.

In VB if you prompt the user for a number between 1-20, then a word, how do you get a text box to show the word the same number of time as the number selected using loops?... Ex: please select a number: 4 / select a word: cat....the text box should display ::: catcatcatcat ........
I am doing this for a class and my brain has locked up. Prob. just over thinking it though. Thanks in advance for any help!

This is what I have so far:
CODE:
When I turn this into a loop to create multiple toolboxes, how do I assign a name to the controls, or will all of them be named "MyTextBox" ? I'll increment their position so thats no problem.

I have a program where I have to calculate straight-line depreciation (cost * 1/n) n being the number of years to depreciate, and Double-Declining depreciation (cost * 2/n) using user input for year of purchase, cost, and years of depreciation. The output needs to be put into 4 columns in a list box. Year, Value at beginning of year, Amount of depreciation during the year and Total depreciation to the end of the year.
The problem I am having is with my loop. It is not properly calculating. I'm sure I am doing something wrong that is simple, but I can't see it.
Here is my code; the problem areas are bold:
Public Class frmDepreciation
Dim Cost, Life, Year, Depreciation, BegValue, EndValue, Total, Counter As Double
Dim fmtStr As String = "{0,-10}{1,10}{2,17}{3,5}{4,-15}"
Dim fmtStr2 As String = "{0,-10}{1,10}{2,17}{3,15}"

I heard that you have to add some code to a random number generator
results(1) = Int((5 - 1 + 1) * Rnd() + 1)
so that if it is used again and again it keeps generating new numbers as apposed to what this piece of code does by itself which is creates the same number every time.what is the code?

I am attempting to take the decimal places of a given input, round it so there are only two decimal places, then change it to a whole number. So far I have been able to remove the integer part of the number, leaving only the decimal, but the other procedures are eluding me. Here's what I have so far: (VB 2008)
Private Function DecimalNumber(ByVal number As Double) As Double
Dim Input As Double
Dim SubtractNumber As Decimal
[Code]....
That code returns the decimal part of the input just fine, and I thought maybe multiplying it by 10 would work....but obviously you run into problems when there is more than one decimal place.

I havn't got any test code for this, as i dont know what way i am going to approach this yet.
at the moment i have a groupbox on a form with 3 radio buttons.
what i would like to happen is when a radio button is selected for it to display a panel with a few controls on it.
i am looking to know what is the best way to code this, i have read a few guides on creating objects at runtime, but none of which i have looked at have any information on adding objects to the likes of a panel.
i am thinking that their are probbably 2 way to attempt this.
my logical thinking tells me i should either
1) Create a class will contain the controls and subs that i need and then try to load the class when it is needed.
2)create a control array then try and work with it that way.
