I have a form that is the main form.I don't want it to show when it loads, but when I do Me.Hide() in the Form_Load event, it flickers visible before it hides. Because before I made this form the main form, the one I was using previously didn't flicker.

View 3 RepliesI have an image that stretches to the size of my form so if the user resizes the form, the image resizes aswell. All works great apart from the constant flickering during the resize of the image.
View 4 RepliesIt is times like these that I miss the old VB6 language I wish I could hide the current forn and show another form which - this is the important thing - to be on the same level that the previous form was . You see , I used to use this code :
Me.Hide Form2.Show However , sometimes in VB .NET this does not work the way I want it to . You see , the current form does get hidden and Form2 is shown indeed ; however , Form2 is shown somewhere in the background . If there are other programs opened at that time , then Form2 is shown behind all those programs , that's what I mean by saying I want it to be shown in the same level as the previous form was the only way out , I found , was to reverse the code :
Form2.Show Me.Hide In this way Form2 is successfully shown right where the previous form was shown (above the other programs) but in some cases this also is not pleasant because it might take some time for Form2 to load while at the same time the previous form is still visible on the screen and therefore for a slight time both forms are shown one over the other , which is surely not nice . That's why I still want to first hide the first form and later show Form2 .
I'm having an issue with my app where IE will get brought to the front of the screen when I am switching between forms. Basically I have a form with the man menu which consist of a few command buttons that will start up another form once a user clicks on the button. I do not want the users loading up multiple forms in my application, so once they load one form I end up hiding the main form. So my code looks as shown below when a button is clicked.

I am designing a Win Form in VB.NET and Using Table layout in it. Problem i facing is, My WimForm is flickering every time it is load.
Kindly suggest me permanent solution in VB.NET . Why this problem occurs ? Is it because of Table Layout ?
I'm writing a simple paint program in VB 2008 that allows the user to create rectangles using MouseDown event to anchor one corner, MouseMove to stretch (or grow) the rectangle, then MouseUp event to complete the rectangle.The last statement in the MouseDown event is Me.Invalidate() to trigger the form's paint event where all the rectangles are drawn (refreshed).
View 1 RepliesI have quite an annoying problem and I don't know how to fix it. See I have several panels in one of my forms, all with background images. On the start of the application, the form slides down, and when the form reaches a set value, all my panels slide out.The problem is, when the panels are sliding, they flicker furiously! It's really annoying and I'm not sure how to fix the problem. When the panel reaches it's set value and stops moving, the flickering stops. I can only assume it's because of the background image
View 4 RepliesI have a listview (details) with owner draw set to true (so i could make rows alternate in color, looks cooler) which basically contains items and subitems whose texts reflect status info that updates constantly
the problem is, sometimes (if the task runs quickly) the status changes really quickly, and as a result, listview items "flicker" for a millisecond no error, no real problem, its just really annoying and makes the program look less professional.
Is there a way to make the listview not flicker? Or maybe there is a way to make it so that the listview doesn't process too many drawsubitem calls during the same time interval? or maybe there is some customized list view out there that does the trick better?
NOTE: i tried with owner draw set to false. it flickers less, but still flickers. same problem :S
Also NOTE: i am not making cross-thread calls. i have 50 items in the listview and 4 colums, mainly the last 2 subitems change.
I have three forms: A, B and C. Upon a button being clicked, A displays B. Similarly, B displays C. Both using the ShowDialog() method.
However when I use the Hide() method (inside a Button Click event) on form C to close it, form B also closes. Why would this be? As far as I can see, it shouldn't be doing this. I certainly didn't write any code to tell it to do that.

UPDATE: I am an idiot. DialogResult was set to Cancel on the button as I'd copy+pasted it from the existing Close button and not realised that property was set

1) Whenever i change the text in my richtextbox it flickers, as part of my program a richtextbox is changed every 1-2seconds and the flickering can get extreemly annoying, anyone know a way to stop this?
2) Im looking for a function that when passed a line will run through a textfile and remove said name for example in a textfile that contains

i am having an issue populating two combo boxes on form load. The program will connect to an access database and pull data as instructed. Then as it pulls each record it puts it into the combo box.
This was working.. atleast i think it was. i dont recall it ever not working, however i wasn't looking for it.
My problem is that if when i load the MDI parent form and have it skip the selection form and the login form and load the next form in the sequence, it loads everything perfectly. However if the select form is loaded first, then the login form and then the form i need loaded, it will not populate. The only difference between the two different loads is that the login form calls a function that loads the form as a new project.form
I did this so that I can have multiple forms open at a time. I am assuming my problem is that I need to get the child forms handle then populating controls using that handle? but i think if I had to do that then I would beable to populate the comboboxes on the first form load using the login method of opening the form.

I have a log in form, and once you log in, it's supposed to show a new form.
The problem here is...if I use Me.Close(), then both of the forms close, and the application terminates.
If I use Me.Hide(), than the first form doesn't actually stop running in the memory, and proceeds to run in the background even after you're done with the program.
I am learning VB.NET and as a first task I am creating a login form. I've been trying to link it to another form once a correct username and password are entered. However, despite that I still cant be able to hide it or unload it once the next form is loaded.

The Form2 appears as coded above but the 'Me.Hide()' manages to hide the login form but then it appears again.
I am working on a project where I need to hide the mouse however the Cursor.hide and the ShowCursor API (Which doesn't even work) will only hide the cursor on a specific form. How would I go about hiding the mouse everywhere? (Desktop/Internet Browsers/etc...)
View 2 RepliesI have a small app with one form (form1) which is supposed to be hidden until a hot key combo is pressed. I have read and taken sample code from: [URL]. I do have a keyboard class that hooks keyboard input, (I have my reasons) but it's odd that it will recognise the first hotkey and fire the event, but none after that? The problem is, I can make the form show, but not hide again. It will only recognise one shortcut, one time. How do I make it respond to another hotkey combo? Is the handle changing? Even with focus, the enabled form is not hiding again.

The insertion part of the form works great. But my problem is in the form load part......If i leave a field blank(Null),then perform Save operation,close the form after successful insertion and then reopen the form,then it retains the previous values during the form load......This is only in case where i leave a field blank in the previous data entry in the database.......But if i enter values in all fields then form load is working great.
basically i have a form with loads of controls. So many infact it stretches the whole hieght of my screen.I only need half these showing since the rest are just a sort of 'log'I have seen ti done loads, that only the controls i want to show at start up are displayed then when some one hits a little button in the bottem it expands the rest leaving them showing to.

I am having trouble finding the right commands to do this. I am use to C and the API where you can get the handle to the parent windows menu, and do it that way. But I have been unsuccessful in VB.

On pressing the button, the rows underneath the selected row would move down and the controls that are associated with the selected row (some textboxes/ dropdowns etc) would appear.
