I am writing a vb application and i want it to run in the background and also appear int the taskbar ie no window will be opened. The main function of the application is to get data from an external database and send it to excel so it does not need to open a window just to run in the background and also appear in the task bar with options for connecting or disconnecting from the database.
I also want to know if its possible to send the data from vb application to a particular file in excel?

Public Declare Function SetWindowPos Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Long, ByVal hWndInsertAfter As Long, _ ByVal X As Long, ByVal Y As Long, ByVal cx As Long, ByVal cy As Long, ByVal wFlags As Long) As Long Public Const HWND_TOPMOST = -1 Public Const HWND_NOTOPMOST = -2 Public Const SWP_NOMOVE = &H2 Public Const SWP_NOSIZE = &H1
When setting the selection of a RichTextBox, the selected text is highlighted even though I set the HideSelection property to True. Once the RTB loses focus then the selected text is no longer highlighted. Programatically setting the focus to another control doesn't hide the selection, only physically clicking another control will hide it. So is there a way I can make the RTB not show the selection right from the start?
I try using Icon.Visible = True. But it will only show icon in the taskbar for a brief period of time before Windows will hide it automatically. How to programmatically make show icon permanently?
The effect is the same as doing it manually, by click on task bar icon button -> Customize Notifications and set behavior to = "Always Show / Always Hide / Hide when inactive" for each taskbar icon on the list.

This is for my really advanced game maker. Which is really working well. But when I went to remake the game player and speed it up, I quit painting the map on the form and the char. So my idea now is the make a picturebox on the form contain the map image and then make another picturebox on top of that one. Now the first pictreubox contrains controls the user created, very useful thats why I switched to a picturebox. And the second one contains the char, anyway, The one that contains the char needs to be able to show the controls behind it, or my game maker wont work. The char image its self is transparent but I need to make that picturebox show all the controls behind it so that if that picturebox moves onto a user control they can still see it beneath the char.
i have a combobox that has 3 cases. case "0" opens a dialog saying, "Not a valid choice"but case "1" and case"2" open up there own separate forms. (FormMain and Form3)How do i make it so if Form3 is open FormMain Can not be opened, And a messagebox appear saying so. I do not just want the ".hide" function. I already have that set.I have tried a few differant things, none of which worked. And i tried them in the formload and in the combobox selected index

I am trying to make a little class to show the balloon tooltip at the moment I got eveything I want working but have no idea how to set the forecolor of text and backcolor.

How can a text box control be programmatically made to scroll down and show the new lines appended at the bottom?
When data is appended to a multiline text box control, it always displays the first lines at the top, and the user has to scroll to the bottom to see the latest. When more data is appended, the control zooms right back to the top.
The vertical scroll is enabled, and so is multiline.
I am working with a very simple (so far..) little program where i use som trig to create a circle using pixels created vith the Ellipse-comand "(x, x, 1, 1)" etc.
But I want to se when the graphics is drawn, just not the finished circle, how do I do that?
I use the "Paint" version of the form. I am a beginner so excuse my poor skills. Shouldn´t this be a very simple little problem?
I am currently working at an, as the topic tittle says, ListBox control, writed in pure GDI to inproe my GDI skills. The problem is the ListBox items (defined as ListeItm), i tryes to make the ListBox items to show up every other in two different colors.
To do so, i have created a boolean called "lf". When the ListBox item is created it checks what the value of lf the last Item got, and chose the opposit, but somehow, it is not working.
Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D Public Class Liste Inherits Control Dim G As Graphics, B As Bitmap
