I am controlling a relay board via a COM port, no problems. I need to connect to an IP connection, and read data from the server, after sending a username and password. Depending on the data, will depend on what relay I am going to switch. Now I have no idea where to start, I have a document that explains how I need to connect to the IP interface, and what data to expect.
currently doing a college project called Home Appliances System by using Voice Command.I have done the voice command part and now it comes to the interfacing between PC and relay board part. Currently I'm considering using USB port to send data(to trigger the home application). Does anyone know how to do it with VB.net?
Is there any code I can use in controlling a relay through a usb port using vb.net. I have to control some cylinders. So i have to use the relays and control them. For that I need to communicate through USB.
i wrote some code to control an ip device, i made in windows forms application , silverlight and asp.net, they all work on the local network , but won't work from internet web server, i have the router forwarding to local device ip and port,
i get this error:
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 226.45.306.158:4999
here's the code used
Private Function SendRelayCommandTest(ByVal e As String) As String 'SendTextToIP("setstate,1:" & thePort & "," & TheState) 'Dim IPHostCC1 As String = "192.168.1.105"
im new around here and also to VB.NET infact any aspect of programming, im hoping to be able to some useful stuff but at the momment im a little stuck i only have basic knoweldge so anyway here goes im programming in VB.NET 2008 Express edition, im also using inpout32.dll which is running ok and also controlling the parallel port fine.the problem i have is as follows the program so far is controlling the 8 outputs at the momment, i can turn each individual one on but when i try to turn multiple outputs on it will only turn on one and the other that was turned on goes off i understand its controlled in a 255 bit array but how to decode it is a little tough
We are trying to modify a program to control a usb relay device. Essentially what the program originally does is give you a series of check boxes that you check to make the relay fire. We tried to modify the code so that the box is checked after 5 seconds using a counter and an if statement. It works, but only partially, what happens is the check box shows a check, but the even that is normally triggered does not happen. [code]

how to capture an on/off signal from a relay and count the seconds of elapsed time between the cycles on a com port? Also, which pins on the com port should be used for this?

Is there a (simple) way to connect a textbox, label etc. to a property in a class?I have a project with a complex series of dialogs to enter data into a list of a costum class describing an experiment with many parameters that are stored as properties (both simple variables such as strings and integers, but also more complex ones).I need both to be able to update the list of my experiment class, but also to go the other way to populate the dialogs from the class. It can of course be done outside the class and the dialogs in separate subroutines. This however, quicly becomes unmanagable and hard to maintain as the dialogs and experiment class is expanded with new elements. If there was a simple way to connect say a textbox or label in a dialog with the appropriate property holding the information it would make it much easier.
Question for all of the more experienced programmers out there. I am working on a program with a tab control. One tab will hold a webbrowser control within it. What I am trying to accomplish to have it pull a specific url from my website to the webbrowser control if the person is connected to the internet, BUT if they don't have a internet connection at the time, I would like to display a local html file instead
I am trying to get my 4 port USB relay board to work in VB.net using the COM PORT. I found some code from a poster who has the 16 port USB relay version. When trying his code i can only get it to turn on relays 1-3 all at the same time. The product can be found here: USB 4 port relay
"01+//" - Relay 1 is switched ON "01-//" - Relay 1 is switched OFF "02+//" - Relay 2 is switched ON "02-//" - Relay 2 is switched OFF
[code].....
So i am confused as to how to separate each relay out with that code above and just be able to turn on any number 1-4 relay on or off independently from each other!

I have this piece of code which I cant seem to get working properly. I am trying to create 2 programs (a client, and a server). This is working so far with establishing connection over LAN, but for some reason when I try to connect to my friend who's on another network, it doesnt work. I happen to believe this is because he has an internal IP which is 192.168.x.x and an external IP which is pretty much any number :P But erh... How can I make my program to first connect to the external and then continue to the internal IP? :s Since I cant really write his internal IP only, cause it'd think Im trying to connect to a computer on my network. And I cant write only his external IP either, since that would only connect to the router... And I don't see an option in the following code that allows me to write both an external and internal IP :s
Anyways, here's the code (Ive left out everything, I am pretty confident, that doesn't have anything to do with it ):
Client:
CODE:
Once again, works over Local Area Network (LAN xD), but not over the internet (My computer -> My router -> ISP (Not sure if there's anything in between here xD) -> Friends ISP -> Friends router -> Friends computer)
After running the following sub (VS debugger), I try to detach the database in SSMS, but it shows the connection open still and won't let me detach. If I close program in debugger, the database shows no connections. I check the dataadapter's connection in the finally block and is shows closed. What gives
Private Function ClientMasterDBFiles(ByVal MasterClientDBConnection As String, ByVal DBName As String) As DataTable
I am attempting to write a program that will disable the Local Area Connection while leaving the Wireless connection enabled. My company is using net-books in our stores to demo air-cards and we need to keep them off of the LAN. I'm new to VB and VB.net, and it's been a while since I did any type of programming. I've gathered some code that others have posted in forums and tutorials and I'm working through a tutorial book, but I finally believe that I am stuck.
i make a class and when i call on form then that error occurs "ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available connection, the connection Current stat is close "

I am connecting to a data stream that pushes data continuously and when I tried to set up a network stream I just could not connect and kept getting the 'not found' error. I used the httpwebrequest with webrequest.keepalive = true and started to consume the data by reading into a buffer and then appending to a stringbuilder. Once the stringbuilder reaches max size I flush it to a text file. The problem is that I get disconnected from the data stream because I am not reading the data fast enough. I need to keep the connection open and read the data while ensuring data gets stored in text files. If I use method "CONNECT" it does not connect to the stream.
While (True) webrequest = DirectCast(Net.WebRequest.Create(url), HttpWebRequest) webrequest.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(username, password) webrequest.Method = "GET"
[code]....
should I increase the buffer size and if so what is the max? that would mean I can read more data at a time and keep up with incoming push. Disparate here.
ACtually also I noticed that it gets stuck on this line
