importing excel sheet data into a sql table(MS SQL 2008) via a datagrid and would like receive as much advise as possible, in order to learn more on this...

I am using this to connect my datagrid to the excel sheet and able to view the data sheet, but from here on.. I am not very sure on how to go about to transferring the excelsheet into a sql table.

I am importing an excel sheet into my sql database. Everything works fine, but I would like to read the column header in as static value. Not sure how to do this. Here is the code I am using to read the sheet in:

I'm attempting to import an excel spreadsheet into a dataset. The spreadsheet is selected by the user by browsing for a file. I can get it to work properly only if I know the exact sheet name, but it varies from sheet to sheet. I need to tell it to always use the first sheet in the workbook.
I've declared the following at the beginning of my project:
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.OleDb
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel

Currently I'm working on some code to modify a spreadsheet before it get's imported into SSIS, using a SSIS script task, so VB.Net.
However I'm having real trouble figuring out the correct code for doing a copy, paste as values for a particular range. In other words: my spreadsheet has formulas in it and I want to convert this to values before it gets imported. I have no trouble figuring out what it should be like in VBA, I just can't get it to work in VB.Net.
Does any one have a clue, or even better a code snippet on how to do this? I can find alll sorts of examples in VB.net for excel just no Copy- paste (as values) ones.

I am Importing a Excelsheet(xls) in to my Application, but the date and Number column showing blank in dataset when comes to application. The values are there in Excel. Any other way to import the excel sheet to application, so that i should get all the values same as there in the excel sheet.

I have a problem loading big spreadsheets into a datagridview.
I had a similar code as above that i used and it works great if you have say 10000 cells to populate cell by cell.
How ever moving to 2 mil cells is a different cup of tea, the code took more than 7 minutes to load the data, and although the data was perfect in every way, its too time consuming, i cant get it to work faster so I used the datagrid instead.
The sheets needed to be imported is 350,000 cells plus. I used code that works realy great, does the import into the grid and transfers the data to a datagridview within 15 seconds with little resources which put a smile on my dail :) then i saw something and it dropped ...

My problem is that whenever there are values below the heading of the cell the datagrid displays (null)
No matter what i do even converting the values in excel to text it does not display the heading of that column.
When i paste other text into the cells below the heading (NOT NUMBERS) it shows the data and heading, Only if the "type" of content is the same does it display both the heading and the text that follows in rows below.

I would like to Import data from multiple sheets in a workbook. With this following code I get the this error: "The MS Jet database engine could not find the object 'Sheet1$' Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and path name correctly." The name and path are correct, the error ocures in the highlighted statement. The sheet name is Sheet1

I have to provide an Excel file as an output. I have to color some of lines and make them bold.The input is based on a dynamic list (in memory) and it also could be based on CSV file that I'm already provide today (based on the same dynamic list).I'm wondering what would be the most efficient way (in terms of performance) in order to provide the colored Excel output?Should I export directly from dynamic list into Excel - or - Should I export from CSV into Excel ?

In this file some cells are merged. After copying to the new sheet the formatting of the sheet does not remain same. Columns sizes are changing. Why this problems occurs? I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I am trying to create a small program to use at my company. It will be used to enter in any customer information on one tab and then the next tab will be used to enter in all the products that we are returning. I would like to use an excel sheet (if there's a better way let me know) to be able to enter in multiple parts but I can't figure out how to get an excel sheet or some kind of editable table onto my form

I have Visual Studio 2008/VB application that opens Excel workbooks, reads all the sheets, and writes some data to a SQL database. I need an easy way to determine if a sheet has any data on it. By default most books has three sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3) and usually, but not always, my books have data only on sheet1. But i need to look at alal sheets to check for the existence of data. I know I can do a nested for loop from 1 to columns.count and rows.count, but that would take a good bit of time since those numbers usually are something like 256 and 65K.
Is ther some easy way to determine if there is any data on the sheet? If there is, is there an easy way to find the "first" cell with data in it?

Is there a routine that will allow me to import data from an excel spreadsheet into a database within my project? I only need to do this to populate the the database I have created in my project.
While the project was being developed I used junk test data for testing and debugging but now I wan to populate the database with the actual records.
Here is the skinny:
In the project database I have the following fields:
ItemID - Primary key
SamCode
[Code].....
Column B contains the Full Name Data where B1 in a column header Column C contains the UPC Numbers needed where C1 is a column header
As stated this is a one time deal and not something I need to run as part of the application.

I am creating an app to grab data from excel and preview in datagrid. From the datagrid I want to be able to save to a sql table. I have the excel data in a gridview via a dataset. What I am having trouble with is the sql statement. I know how to insert data, but I can't work out how seperate the data in the dataset to pass it into individual Values of the insert statement. Or should it be done another way? NOTE: I is not essential that the excel data be previewed in the gridview if this would make life easier for me.

I am working on an excel add-in. Currently I have a couple of forms that grabs info from excel, processes and pastes data back into excel.My problem occurs after my form closes (this leaves excel and one other MDI form still open). I need my excel sheet to come to the front for users to view and edit. My MDI form just stays on top even though I just edited the excel doc. I have tried everything I can think of using:

I'm trying to read rows in a DataGridView and the following error is thrown up. The DataGridView was filled from an Excel Sheet with a column of currency.
