I am trying to put colored text into a list box. I use the following
Private Sub ListBox1_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles ListBox1.DrawItem
e.DrawBackground()
Dim myBrush As Brush = Brushes.Blue
Select Case e.Index
[Code] .....
This works fine and dandy as long as I use 8 pt font, but when I change the font to 20 I get the following: How can I get the list box to display colored text in a large font?

I was wondering if you guys could help me. I have a web browser made, and now i'm working on coding my favourites system. It is working well, and adds the URL to My.Settings.FavList
My problem is once you've added a favourite then load up the favourites form, it appears. But if you don't add anything, and load up the form, nothing appears. Below I have attached my coding, I hope you guys will be able to help. Also i'm still learning VB, and almost all of this coding was done through me learning myself. So yeah, there may be parts wrong. Form1 - This code is to add the favourite. I don't think anything is wrong with this part.
[Code]...
I know it has something to do with the Favourites_Load, i'm just not sure what to put in. I have literally tried everything. The thing is, I bet it's something simple, and this is a noobie question.

I am attempting to make an application that can load in a large file that has some unique characters in it. A majority of the file is plain text, and ultimately I need to replace specified values with other values. The file is an InstallShield .ILG file - I am trying to have a small executable modify the "Feature" GUID entered in the file so that future installations/upgrades identify the new type of features it has. It's a fix for some software issues that would really expedite the solve without having someone un-install and re-install the package each time.
The problem is regardless of the methods I've tried to load the file, it doesn't bring over the data. It's a unique file that I do not want to modify/parse any data in other then those specific fields. Anytime I attempt to convert it to string I just get a few characters that are blocks. I've attempted all types of loading methods within VB but it continues to fail.
I've gotten this utility to modify everything from the config files to the proper DLLs it needs to load and the registry it needs to change. But it's this one piece that regardless of my attempts I can't find a way to load and modify the ILG file.

I'm trying to load this image file on a PictureBox but I get an "OutOfMemoryException was unhandled" error.
How do I allocate more memory for this? Or maybe use another container? My project's main feature is loading maps, unfortunately my boss wants to load the whole map and won't accept sliced version of the map.

Ok here we go again, im a complete beginner to coding and have started with visual studio 2008 using the .net/vb libraries, as my first project i went with an emulation application, and it went great:So now i think its time to move onto a little more advanced tech's, so i added in a combo box and i want to change how my code works, and this is where my troubles are.To start of with the combo box, i have it added to my winform and have 3 items on it 'Action' 'RPG' and 'Sim' and i have made 3 .txt files in the projects root folder with the same names. What i want to have happen is when the user selects for instance 'RPG' from the combo box the items displayed in the listbox change to the contents of the rpg.txt file. After searching around for a few hours and no luck i tried this
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged
If (ComboBox1.SelectedItem = "RPG") Then
[code].....

My aim is to choose a value from Listbox1 and on Listbox2 I would like to display the corresponding value from a table in my database. I mean, when I select Product A from Listbox1 (which is getting its values from row "Model" in my database table), I should see its price on Listbox2 which is available in the "Price" row of the same table (and also manipulate this price in different places for calculation etc.) . I am not sure if the best way is using "databinding.filter".
Here is the code I have but I cannot making it work:
Dim dtCOP As New AmetailorDataSet.COPDataTable
Dim adapterCOP As New AmetailorDataSetTableAdapters.COPTableAdapter
adapterCOP.Fill(dtCOP)
[code]...
A small note: my aim was using a Richtextbox instead of Listbox but I am told that Richtextbox is not suitable for using with datasources.

I have a checked listbox that I've populated with a table that has three columns, Name, Address, Phone - and have done so successfully, but when i display the items in the listbox, i would like to retrieve additional values of the checked items other than the primary displayitem.[code]'we now have an array full of the Name column only, from our checked items 'i'd like to grab the other two as well (not to display in the listbox, but to use elsewhere as variables) 'and keep the checked listbox as a control in the above code, the fill_array variable is only populated with the items displayed in the checkedlistbox - my question is, can i keep the display item the same and pull the other two columns from the datasource, but only for the ones that make the checkeditems list?

I'm fairly new to VB.NET, and I'm working on a text editor with a tabbed interface. I deal with large text files. Should I have each tab / text document open up in a new thread or a process? I basically want the entire application to always run fast as the text editor is just one part of it. If I have several large text files open I don't want the rest of the application slowing down a bit.

I'm developing a VB.NET application to obtain data from any data source (using an odbc connection string), and because this i can't use specific .net connectors like MySql.Net connector and i can't previously know if the file/DMBS supports LIMIT parameter. This app will read data from a table in the data source and use the information to make some files. At this point there was no problem with some tables because they are less than 3,000,000 records length, but there is a table that has 5,000,000+ rows length, and when i send the query the connection is lost. I'm working with OdbcDataReader, because i read on MSDN site that this is the best way to read a table one row at time and i just use each record once.[code]...

This is a problem with MS Access, but I can't seem to find an MS Access Forum, so I'm asking it here.I have a large table of just one field. The field type is Byte. I use CTRL C and CTRL V to make a copy of the table.I then compare the Source and Destination tables and lo and behold they are different at about record number 8 million.I also tried an Append Query to append to an empty table (I haven't tried a Make Table query). But, similar corruption. The source and destination tables do not end up the same. The Record where the failure occurs varies, but it is always greater than 8 million.I tried this on MS Access 2002 and 2010 (both with an Access 2002 database).

why my code doesn't work? I want the array elements to be loaded into a listbox when the button is clicked. Is it because not all elements in my array have been filled? I've tried putting the array declaration as a global variable and as a local one (below), but the same error occurs as soon as the button is clicked - "ArgumentNullException was unhandled".
Private Sub btnLoadCustomerNames_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadCustomerNames.Click

I want to make a program similar to this one: [URL]. I already have the ListBox ready. But how do I load the images?
The image name works like this:
-File1.package

-File1B.jpg
So the .package is removed and A.jpg or B.jpg is added.

So i have a text file that is created in the program which can be loaded back into the program(game save)
Whatever is in the text file "stats" should be listed in listbox1 in the same order it is in the text file. The same with "items" in listbox2. And then "quests" will be in listbox3.
The problem is when i load it instead of what is in the text file it says...
note that box3 is correct that it has nothing in it.

I am facing a "weird" problem with the DataGridView. In fact, I have a function, that loads each table of an xml file into a datagridview (27 tables all with same structure except one called Listes). In the datagridview I have a combobox column to select "type" (it's the 3rd Column, so it's index is 2 normally). The problem is that when I call the function loaddata for the first time, all work perfectly ! If I call it for a second time, to reload the data, I get an error of cast! I verified and it seems that first time I call the function the column that contains the combobox is column(2), but when I run it again automatically the indexes of the columns are changing and am getting the error, because the column that contains the combobox is becoming column (3) and that explains the cast error because the column'(2) is not anymore the combobox so the cast will fail ! What I can't understand is why it's reordering that way my columns automatically ?
Here is the code:
vb.net
Sub LoadData(Path As String )
Dim oData As DataSet
oData = New DataSet
oData.ReadXml(Path)
Dim i As Integer
Dim MaGrille As DataGridView
