I have created a project with a search form. add new record form and a also have an edit record form.Under the add new record form I have added an attachment button an a opendialog where I can select multiple files, so far this is working great, then I add the name of each file that I select and added to a listbox, so far so good, for example:
an application i developed using vb 2008 express, to fill a web form with data from an access database, one after another when a button is clicked hasn't given me what i expected. the loop was suposed to stop after filling web form with the first data on clicking a button and continue to fill the webform with the next(2nd) data from the database on clicking the button again. Below is the code i wrote
Private Sub STARTButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e
I have a window application develpoed in vs 2008, framework 3.5, in which i have put a button.. Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..
When I get ready to load the .txt into the listbox, it says that there is an error, yet I have no compiler errors. Here is my assignment I am having trouble with:
Public Class Form1 'Define the Members Structure Structure Members
I'm trying to load the contents of text files into a listbox. It loads the file fine but adds an extra character at the end. I have a feeling it has something to do with my Split command but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Here is what I have:
Dim ofd As New OpenFileDialog ofd.Filter = "Text files (*.txt)|*.txt" Dim result As DialogResult = ofd.ShowDialog
why my code doesn't work? I want the array elements to be loaded into a listbox when the button is clicked. Is it because not all elements in my array have been filled? I've tried putting the array declaration as a global variable and as a local one (below), but the same error occurs as soon as the button is clicked - "ArgumentNullException was unhandled".
Private Sub btnLoadCustomerNames_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadCustomerNames.Click 'String array holds maximum 100 customer names
I'm loading custom listboxitems in to a listbox. But the problem is that i load over 300 items and it takes a while and the program stops responding.I've tried to load the items in a backgroundworker, but i didn't help.
I want to make a program similar to this one: [URL]. I already have the ListBox ready. But how do I load the images? The image name works like this: -File1.package -File1A.jpg -File1B.jpg So the .package is removed and A.jpg or B.jpg is added.
am havin a problem in loading sorting items in a listbox. what i want is after i load a text file into a listbox the items are compared by the last number and sorted in descending order.
So i have a text file that is created in the program which can be loaded back into the program(game save)
Whatever is in the text file "stats" should be listed in listbox1 in the same order it is in the text file. The same with "items" in listbox2. And then "quests" will be in listbox3.
The problem is when i load it instead of what is in the text file it says...
note that box3 is correct that it has nothing in it.
I was wondering if you guys could help me. I have a web browser made, and now i'm working on coding my favourites system. It is working well, and adds the URL to My.Settings.FavList
My problem is once you've added a favourite then load up the favourites form, it appears. But if you don't add anything, and load up the form, nothing appears. Below I have attached my coding, I hope you guys will be able to help. Also i'm still learning VB, and almost all of this coding was done through me learning myself. So yeah, there may be parts wrong. Form1 - This code is to add the favourite. I don't think anything is wrong with this part.
[Code]...
I know it has something to do with the Favourites_Load, i'm just not sure what to put in. I have literally tried everything. The thing is, I bet it's something simple, and this is a noobie question.
I need to load the contents of a text file (itemInfo.txt) into a list box
Public Class MainForm Private path As String = "L:Visual BasicSequentialHW" Private Sub MainForm_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
I have a huge assignment tommorow in which i have to make a trivia game on visual basic. In this game you have to be able to make your own questions (modify/delete etc). Basically I have one form where you can add questions into one listbox and answers into another listbox. Now i have another form with the actual game board. I want to load each individual listbox item from the other form into the array on the game board form. Example. the first item of form2.listbox1 into question(1)
I got this so far
Private Sub Form5_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim i As Integer
I've got a Program and a text file, this text file gets load into the list box but that's not the problem. The problem is that when I make the text file it makes a open line and this line gets loaded into the list box and I don't want empty items.
So here's code that I use to make text file Public MySettingfile As String = My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath & "Process History.MemFreo" Dim myCoolWriter As New IO.StreamWriter(MySettingfile, True, System.Text.Encoding.Default) myCoolWriter.WriteLine() myCoolWriter.Close()
i'm trying to load a txt file into a listbox in this way

I am trying to add Images using open file dialog and folder browse dialog and populating the image list to listbox. While adding these Images I need to show the progress bar for every image it loads.
I am trying to get that but when the value of the progress bar say something around 25 0r 40 it is stopping at that point but I need to show the progress bar until it completes the 100% and then populates the Image list.
Here is my code:
Private Sub AddImages_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AddImages.Click If Not Directory.Exists(Application.StartupPath + "Backup") = True Then
I was writing a program that would save the contents of a listbox to a database and wanted to reload the users' choices when the opened up that particular row again. My first thought was to do it with two for loops, just as I used to do in VB6, but I thought there must be a better way to do it. And there was. Sort of. It basically involves using the SelectedObjectCollection class. For this demo, you'll need a listbox called Listbox1. Set selection mode to something other than "One" or else it won't work as expected
Dim items(0 To 3) As String items(0) = "One" items(1) = "Two"
I am trying to load the desktop, My Documents, My Music, and My Pictures into a listbox. Here's my code: Dim doc As String = (My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyDocuments) Dim desk As String = (My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.Desktop) Dim mus As String = (My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyMusic) Dim pics As String = (My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyPictures) [Code] .....
The duplicates need to stay as they are in the text file. I just want the duplicates deleted from the listbox when viewed. How would I do that? Say there are two orders made by the same user. I only want the user to show up once in the listbox...
I am using file.readalllines to read the file into a string, then using listbox.items.addrange and splitting by vbcrlf to insert the items. Is there a way to reduce the lag it causes for loading huge lists?
I was wondering if this was possible, if so can you point me in the right direction? "Display the progress of loading a txt file into a listbox with ProgressBar".I am basically loading a file (blah.txt) which contains several strings each on their own line:[code]I would like to display the progress of the listbox loading within a progress bar.

Is it possible to select an item in one listbox and then display the data of another listbox with the same indexed position? I am planning a project and this is something I would like to attempt but I haven't figured out how to do it.[code..]
I tried doing the above code but instead of displaying the listbox text the message box just returned false.
I've pretty much just started in playing with Visual Basic Studio 2010 and have been using this site for lots of answers so thought I'd join up and harass more directlyI've been trying to move items between two lists, one is databound to a bindingsource, the other isn't. I found out that you can't really move items from databound lists, but you can remove from the datasource instead. This works fine until I want to move the item back - it fills a blank line with seemingly no data.
which way do you think is best? Using connection As New OleDb.OleDbConnection(My.Settings.CustomerConnectionString & My.Settings.CustomerDatabasePath) Using command As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT [customer] FROM [tblCustomers] ORDER BY [customer] ASC", connection) connection.Open() Using reader As OleDb.OleDbDataReader = command.ExecuteReader()
Its my first time here. And I'm a new to programming and to VB.NET too so please don't mind if I say or ask stupid things :POkay here's my question. Let's say I have a table which contains student details. (Student Code, Name, DOB, Sex, Address, Contact No) and I have a grid which shows ONLY the student code and the name.
Now What I wanna do is when you double click on a cell, ALL the data related to that particular row should be loaded into a form with textboxes.
