On a form I have a toostrip control with some ToolStripDropdownButtons,each has ToolstripMenuItems. I want to display menus on mouse over not after user click on a ToolStripDropdownButtons.I saw that on a application and was fine.

I insert a text box into form1. I move the mouse pointer on top of the text box. I press down on the left mouse button and begin to drag the text box. The problem is when I let go of the mouse button the text box is not dropped. it remain floating around. My only way out of this is to press the escape key which places the text bnox bak to its original location. Thinking that it might be my mouse I tested it in Power point and everything works correctly.

When my mouse cursor is over the buttons, it will raise the mouse hover event and open the form, then when the mouse leaves the button, it will close the form upon raising the mouse leave event.

I have one navigational toolbar that will allow me to click from one record to another. I am supposed to also have a navigation menu that does the same thing. I have found no information in my book that works on this. Is there a better place to find this type of information?
View 1 RepliesSo basically im around 2 months into building a text based rpg game in vb 2010 which is coming along lovely. there are unique charachter creations, bans, loans, monsters to fight, levels, skill points, spells, inn's, etc etc... you get the idea. so now its time to move on to one of the largest problems of all. an inventory :O now, i have a db with the correct information in, i have even sorted all the code for the program to read the db with the correct items and its all working fine. but now i would like to have a more gui system. meaning:a grid based box where pictures of each Item_ID are displayed so you can see what items are in your inventory at any time. now i can sort this out myself with a case select and just load all the images into the local resource and pull itempictue1 when id = 1 itempicture2 when id=2 etc etc you get the idea. what i was woundering is...
could i build a drag and drop system where the player can move the items inside the inventory fairly easily? i have done some research into this but as vb isnt much of a gaming language i've run into a fair few dead ends. Not sure if i have come across right, but in essence, if you have a grid, 4x4 and item 1 is in grid space 1 and item 2 is in grid space 2.. to swap them around with the mouse.Please, dont shout if im asking too much :L nobody likes haters. any help is much appreciated and if you dont think vb can do this then please tell me and i will consider all alternate possibilities unless you have a better idea?

While this compiles, the computer does not like this at run-time. It throws an exception out:

I'm writing an application for seat reservations. I use a DataGridView to represent seats. Each free seat is coloured in green and occupied seats are in blue.DataGridView is populated with names from database and user could add a name to a seat choosing from a list.Moreover the user has the possibility to move a name from one seat to another - not occupied via drag and drop operation.Eveything works well, but when moving a name from one cell to another I have to position the cursor over a cell that is one row above and four columns on the left of that one I choose.Which is the reason? is it possible to link a personal created class with a Mouse Event? I created a class and I want to make it possible to make it interactive with the mouse. So when the user goes over the GDI-created shape (which is declared and created in that class), he has to see some information about that shape, like the name etc.... I have a panel and a toolstrip with 3 buttons. Each button represents a different image. I want to click on a button (once) and then move into the panel and everytime I click the mouse button it drops the image where ever I clicked. This only ends when either I click back on the same button or one of the other buttons. I do not want to drag an image into the panel each time. In other words the button stays depressed and the event/action stays active.
I have a context menu strip on my application but I would like to associate it when a user right clicks on a list box in my application. The context menu appears on my mouse right click event in my listbox, but it appears at the top of my application instead of where I right clicked. How do I associate the list box control with the contextmenu.
NOTE: Maybe there is another control besides a contextmenu that I want to use here.
Windows form, it has a section with Tabs, in those tabbed areas there are menu strips. Also on the form there are buttons, and 1 menu strip not on a tab control.
The following work with one click; buttons.
The menustrip take 2 clicks. However after the form has been clicked for the first time, they only need one click to operate. Take the focus away from the form, set to always be on top and repeat above.
What I need is this
1./ stay on top (Done)
2./ Buttons single click (Done)
3./ Menu strip single click
what is the correct control for displaying mouse event -> right click? i tried the ContextMenuStrip control but it seems i can't change its location, can i?
