So I have an issue with have displayed names in a listbox and trying to write a code to have a hidden price value for it. I want the selected name in the be put into another listbox as a display name and have the price value of it be in a holding value to calculate an equation.I just need help declaring the name with a value in the list box. And How do I list each listbox number so I can retrieve it back as a price value to put in a formula.

i need to display the title and the price in the listview when i click the button.In the first row there is no error but if i add another record the second row of Movietitle has record but the second row of price is blank.

I am new to vb and I am having so much trouble with this. What I need to do is this: I have a form application for winter sports equipment rental.I have a listbox filled with the equipment for the user to choose from then I have a combobox for the user to select the duration they would like to rent it. The book that I am using has no examples I can refrence and i have had no luck online either. I am posting what I have so far. However, i think I am going in the wrong direction. I have been working on this for so long that I think I have over thought it and made a mess of it. I am thinking that I need to add a new class for rentalRates then use enum of durationType and equipmentType but I am unsure how to move that way. But I can't get them to add up and display the quantity and price. I tried the ByVal and ByRef code but am not sure if I did it right

Right now i have the following code. it is 4 radio buttons that if selected will display the price of a ticket.
There is a button called "repeat offender" that should take the price and double it. so me, being new to visual basic, were thinking of trying an if statement such as If it is selected decTicketTotal * 2
But this did not work. any help would be appreciated.. just trying to get the repeat offender selection working so when it calculates the price will double.

But i need to display a error message when the user enters text instead of numbers for prices. I have to create a form that I enter the price of gas each month over a year. I enter the price in a text box and click the enter button to send the price to a list box immediatley and use an array. I have the following code but I don't think it's working with the array correctly as it will let me enter the information but doesn't stop letting me enter after the 12 prices. I am really having a hard time trying to figure out how to set up this input for an array and make it all work.

I have a quick question regarding the serial port and timer tick event. Basically i have a micro processor connected to the PC via the serial port. With a baurd rate of 38400 set.When the PC sends the micro ":K + VBCRLF" the micro response with a string of information (ASCII encoded) and delimited with a "," and at the end of the transmission a cartridge return line feed is added.Example of sent string:
"12,1134,123,545,76,6868,34,232,1,2,3,6,7,8" These numbers are then split using the VB mystring.split(",") function into an array of strings, then the numbers are converted using ctype. After which my UI is then updated.I have Witten the code in a tick timer event using a timer count of 300ms. Although the program runs and the UI is updated i end it with lots of exception errors. I think allot of this is down to the serial port either timing out or not reading complete string.Or possibly the timer has not executed all the code before another tick event happens Even after adding a few try catch statements i am still having problems. Can anybody suggest a better way of doing it?I was thinking of using a do while loop and at the end a sleep function instead of the timer tick event.I need the speed as i am trying to read and display live data.

Can someone tell me how to read the specific bits and translate them? I have no idea how to google this. So if someone wants to point me to a search pattern. That would be awesome too.

View 5 RepliesI need to use the BindingNavigator to cycle thru the records of one of the tables in an Access database. The table has 5 text fields and 3 image fields. On a form I have placed 5 TextBoxes and 3 PictureBoxes. I included a BindingSource control and BindingNavigator control and configured them. This automatically generated the TableAdapter, BindingSource and Dataset. I then manually bound each TextBox and PictureBox using the DataBindings area in each of their Properties. I can run the program and display the records, but only the Text fields show anything. The images are not displayed in the PictureBoxes.
