I am trying to create a program that will send a URL saved in a textbox between the program which will be on different computers. So one computer will be running the program and the URL they have will be sent to the program on the other program.

I figure there would be one program on the sending end and a separate on the receiving end. A server and client perhaps?
Anyway, I need to know how to send a file on the host machine in a simple method that is least likely to be blocked by anti-viruses and such. The fewer issues that result in a failed transfer, the better.
Also, note that my goal is to molulize this code (later) so it can be reused for multiple applications such as file sharing, gaming, etc.

Button1...locate and preview an image file.
Button2...creates an email with html link...creates an html page file...ftp's the image and html files to server...sends email.
Button3...ftps image file only.
Publish and install on another computer and I have problems.
Button 1...Will load and preview file correctly.
Button 3...ftp image file only.
Button 2...I get an error (my own 'failed' message)

I am wanting the program to send me the information entered (when they hit the send button) as an email and also drop the information entered into an access database.I have the program sending the textbox information as an email.What I am having trouble with is saving the three textboxes to access database. I have an access database set up with a table and three fields for the three textboxes.
All I need to do is each time a user uses the program, it adds the information they enter into the three textboxes to the three different fields in the database. I don't need to let the user view or edit the database in any way.

on good computers direct show works fine on vista computers that are a few years old; after playing a few (4 hours or so) videos my program crashes on this line:

when i say crashes it just stops responding ... i hit ctl+break and it has a green arrow on that line that means it's busy executing the constructor of the filter graph it seems to run fine on descent brand new vista machines, the memory usage is minimal on all occurrences. seems fairly constant on older machines.
How come when I design a form it isn't displayed properly on certain computers in the fact that buttons near the bottom go of the bottom of the window. I beleive this only happens with Windows XP however it might be due to screen resolution, I haven't troubleshooted it much.

View 6 RepliesI have created an Excel AddIn that has a custom ribbon with some custom buttons...I'm using Excel 2010. One of the buttons is to save the the workbook by utilizing the users input as the file name. This workbook is to be saved as a template in a specified folder. The code also checks to see if the file already exists, and prompts the user to overwrite if it does already exist.The code I have seems to be working just fine. The problem is...when I try to open the newly saved workbook, it won't open.Here is the entire code for the button click event:

I saved a text file. The text characters were in RichTextBox iwth multiple lines. I used
RichTextBox1.AppendText(ControlChars.Cr) or RichTextBox.AppendText(ControlChars.Lf)
at the end of each line, but when I opened this text file using NotePad, all lines were displayed with ONE line. The strange thing is: if I open the same text file using other editors, .e.g. an IDE of Microchip or Freescale or Multi-edit...the text display had multiple lines as expected.
What should I do to make display as expected in NotePad?
I made a buttom that saves info from RichTextBox to selected location now My problem is I want this file to be loaded when program loads so basicly folder will look like this
myprogram.exe CustomNamesFolder > Inside that folder there will be a file called names.txt how can I doit so that name.txt file loads in my ComboBox? so when user downloads the exe they can just go in to folder edit the .txt file and add names they want and when they start program it will load this list in to the ComboBox of my program
How can I achive this ? I looked at 6 pages of Loading Files in program but non told me what I wanted to know above ;s

when reading it back into the textboxes i was needing to chop off the surrounding parameters:

Is there a way to just grab the data in between the brackets like an explode function of sorts?
