VS 2008 - Design A Form It Isn't Displayed Properly On Certain Computers
Dec 28, 2009
How come when I design a form it isn't displayed properly on certain computers in the fact that buttons near the bottom go of the bottom of the window. I beleive this only happens with Windows XP however it might be due to screen resolution, I haven't troubleshooted it much.
From this aspcode.net page at the bottom (under attachments) you can download the project. For some reason when I run it the Close Button and the Next and Previous Buttons don't work. Well I mean it does work but it does not show the actual images. Can anyone figure it out? It should be easy but I just cant get it to work.
On each of my form I have put an 'Exit' button. When user clicks it, another form is displayed (I don't want to use 'MessageBox') asking user whether he really wants to quit. If user clicks yes the form closes. If user clicks no, form is redisplayed.
However, out of 4 forms only one form refuses to redisplay. The code is exactly same on all forms. I have included 2 Express 2008 projects showing one form each in the zip file apps-ssk.zip
I seem to have reached a limit on the size of the form. I cannot make the form longer and I need to add more fields. Is there a limit on how many fields can be included in a form?
I have a form which won't open properly under certain circumstances if a particular Button is set to visible = false. Under the same circumstances if the Button is set to visiblbe = true the form does open properly or if the line of code at a certain place where it is set to either visible = true or visible = false is commented out or not there then the form opens properly. If any one of the 5 phases on my form are turned on then the problem doesn't ever occur but if none of the phases are on then the problem does occur. I just found a fix for the situation but I still am not clear about what exactly is going on.
I have a question regarding the manipulation of a form at runtime. Let's say I created a simple form in the form designer before runtime containing a couple of buttons, text boxes and labels. While the program is running, I would like to change properties of these controls, while having the ability to move them around, along with the addition of newer controls, say a listbox.
After the form is 're-designed', I would like to save the new settings of my form, in either a database or settings file. Whats the best way to implement this?
I need some info how to design/code a form, that only refreshs some parts of the content. Like a frame inside a webpage, that's loaded with AJAX, and the rest of the page maintains the same aspect.I know an application that acts exact the same way that i'm trying to do, but i don't know if i can refer the name.I want my form splitted in three, the top (unchanged), the middle that changes with the options of the user, and the bottom.
I often get this problem. I open a form in design mode and the form is not in view and scrollers can't get to it. Sometimes it's cut in half and the other half is outside the window but there's no way to move the form inside the design space to see the form in full. Sounds like a lame problem but I can't find a way to properly open the form
I am using Visual studio express 2008. I was working on a VB project for a few hours. Then I did something,(I think I just double clicked the form ) and I cannot open it in design mode. By Design mode I mean so you can see the controls, and ad buttons and stuff. The form still runs, if I run it. I see the form in the Solution explorer. From solution explorer, if I show all Files , then open FrmMain.Designer.vb, I can see my code. If I go to the project menu item and insert New Windows Form the new form works like I expect it too, I can see it. I need to be able to see my form.
how to add a MainMenu to a form in VB 2008 Express using the design window. I only see MenuStrip in the toolbox. I can add a MainMenu programatically, but not visually. The reason I need a MainMenu and not a MenuStrip is for owner-drawing. None of the MenuStrip items seem to have an OwnerDraw property.
I have just started using VB 2008 Express i couldn't find a forum for this version. Im having trouble working out how to open my form in design view rather than code.
Im having odd problems with how my form is displaying at runtime...if you look at the 2 attachments you can see at runtime the labels disappear under the check box's, but at design time they are positioned perfectly.
This always happens to me in Visual Basic. Whenever I save a project from one day and open it again using that same VB version the next day, I can never see the form design. But if I click on Debug, I can see the Form design and only use it as if it were a program.
I have created a custom Combobox and added it to my toolbox, and it works well. Now I have added a custom ListBox to the same file as the combo box, but it does not show on my designer when I place it. I can however add it at runtime. ''ComboBox <DefaultEvent("SelectedIndexChanged"), _ ToolboxBitmap(GetType(System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox))> _ Public Class ProjectsComboBox Inherits ComboBox ''My Customization [Code] ..... I have tried removing the "DefaultEvent..." and still no dice.
why i cant see the Form Design?and when i double-click the Form1.vb on the Solution Explorer i got error:does anyone here encounter this probz before?how to fix this.. (should i reinstall vbnet?)
I have a VB. Net App where I want the user to open a modeless form which contains reference information about items in a select box. If the user double clicks the item selected in the list box a modal form is opened to edit the item.I want the previously opened reference form to remain active/enabled, that is, I want the user to be able to click on it, move it, etc.I was able to get the form to at least show up on the task bar by setting it's "ShowInTaskBar" property to true, however, when it comes to the front the user can still not move it to the side to view all of the Edit Forms information.
I'm new in .Net and I have an application with windows form "LOGIN" When users enter the user and password and click "ok", then if user passes validation then I have the code Show(MDIMainMenu) (I'm trying to open an mdi form), but I receive the following error: "Form that is already visible cannot be displayed as a modal dialog box. Set the form's visible property to false before calling Show. Error Number 5"
I have a small program that works just fine on my desktop (23 inch monitor). I programmed it on this computer as well. My laptop (17 inch monitor) works fine also, however, on a 15 inch monitor the picturebox's are off and not where they were when I programmed it. Also, some forms you can not see the entire form and the bottom is cut off.
I have a form that is currently being displayed in a split container with panel 1 holding a treeview and panel2 holding the form. my code for this is here. This is when selecting a item from the treeview.
[Code]....
When I view this in action however it cuts off about a quarter inch from the right of any form I use.
When a user clicks the + button on the binding navigator, I want to set the displayed item of acombobox to the value displayed in a label. The combobox is bound to a field in the table. Theproblemis that when the user clicks to add a new record the combobox is cleared and they forget to select a value before they click save.
I have a section of code in which I want to display a messagebox after a form is displayed... as the form loads. me.show messagebox.show If I don't use me.show first, the messagebox appears before the form is displayed. If I do use me.show first, the form appears, but is not always complete before the messagebox appears. Is there an easy way to poll the form to see if it is done displaying without using a timer?
I am looking for a code snippet which opens a image, creates a clone of this bitmap in memory disposes this opened image so that all handles are closed.
Usually we can open a bitmap using this[code...]
the following code however keeps the Image File locked until the application is running, any suggestions how to dispose it properly. (So that no handle is left open )
Things i already tried: use dispose method of bitmap <= doesnt work (need to write implementation) Using Block also doesnt work.
Even i have use the "BringToFront" keyword for the childform but its not working. The buttons on the main form are still displayed above the childform. But when i open another form from the childform, it is displayed properly
Am migrating VB6 to VB.Net and am stuck once again. We use App.HelpFile in vb6 to set Path and Filename of current help file.Current help File can change depending on which form is displayed. How do we assign help files in VB.net?
I have a parent form, which can lanch a dialog box. A wrong selection in the box launches a message box with an error message. When the message box pops up, the dialog box disappears, so the messagebox is sitting on top of the parent form.Once the user clicks "OK" in the messagebox, the box disappears, and only the parent form remains. How do I make it so that the dialog box remains when the messagebox is displayed? And also, I want the dialog box to remain when the user closes the message box. The user should have the option to make the right selection in the dialogbox once the messagebox disappears.I tried to hunt for a property for the dialog box to achieve this, but couldn't find any.
Here is the code in the parent form to lauch the dialog box, and to also launch the messagebox, when the user has made a selection in the dialogbox:[code]Am I having this problem because all the code to launch the dialog and message boxes reside in the parent form? If I put the code to launch the messagebox in the dialog box, would that make the dialog box persistent when the messagebox is launched? I am putting all the code in the parent form because it can process the DialogResult.
I have a windows form with listboxes, buttons and a checkbox. It works fine at home but when I take it to school it doesn't display properly. I have been given full privileges and the .NET framework V3.5 is installed. I have all my buttons/checkboxes on the right hand side but they don't display like they aren't even there (there is no extra blank form space either). The form sized wasn't locked
I have a help file which is in html format and is displayed in a form containing a web browser. I initially want this to be copied to the output directory so that it will be there when the programme is installed and i can then use the file path of the output directory to display the help file.
Can anyone advise how i would do this, and also if when the user installs the program, they decide to change the default output directory how i would i get my application to know where the helpfile will be?
