I need some info how to design/code a form, that only refreshs some parts of the content. Like a frame inside a webpage, that's loaded with AJAX, and the rest of the page maintains the same aspect.I know an application that acts exact the same way that i'm trying to do, but i don't know if i can refer the name.I want my form splitted in three, the top (unchanged), the middle that changes with the options of the user, and the bottom.
I have just started using VB 2008 Express i couldn't find a forum for this version. Im having trouble working out how to open my form in design view rather than code.
I had a project converted from vb6.. now I'm replacing old controls with new ones.. but when I delete the control off the form.. the form generate code still shows it.. I didnt think I was supposed to monkey with that code and remove anything..
I assume there is a way for the code to regenerate from the actual form design ?
I tried rebuild project.. but that didnt do anything.. I'm a tad new to vb.net..
I was working on a project in vs 2005 and decided to see my project's form in microsoft blend, the form did not show and i closed blend and saved no changes. The next time i open my project in visual studio, my form1 design mode shows me some code for the windows form designer. How can i get my form back as i need to add more controls and change the orientation of some others?
Something happened to my project and it got all messed up. I am not sure what happened, but the form I was working on only shows the code and not the project itself(where you design it). I am working in VB2008 Express Edition and do not wish to start over. What happened to my form?
I seem to have reached a limit on the size of the form. I cannot make the form longer and I need to add more fields. Is there a limit on how many fields can be included in a form?
I have a question regarding the manipulation of a form at runtime. Let's say I created a simple form in the form designer before runtime containing a couple of buttons, text boxes and labels. While the program is running, I would like to change properties of these controls, while having the ability to move them around, along with the addition of newer controls, say a listbox.
After the form is 're-designed', I would like to save the new settings of my form, in either a database or settings file. Whats the best way to implement this?
I often get this problem. I open a form in design mode and the form is not in view and scrollers can't get to it. Sometimes it's cut in half and the other half is outside the window but there's no way to move the form inside the design space to see the form in full. Sounds like a lame problem but I can't find a way to properly open the form
I am using Visual studio express 2008. I was working on a VB project for a few hours. Then I did something,(I think I just double clicked the form ) and I cannot open it in design mode. By Design mode I mean so you can see the controls, and ad buttons and stuff. The form still runs, if I run it. I see the form in the Solution explorer. From solution explorer, if I show all Files , then open FrmMain.Designer.vb, I can see my code. If I go to the project menu item and insert New Windows Form the new form works like I expect it too, I can see it. I need to be able to see my form.
how to add a MainMenu to a form in VB 2008 Express using the design window. I only see MenuStrip in the toolbox. I can add a MainMenu programatically, but not visually. The reason I need a MainMenu and not a MenuStrip is for owner-drawing. None of the MenuStrip items seem to have an OwnerDraw property.
How come when I design a form it isn't displayed properly on certain computers in the fact that buttons near the bottom go of the bottom of the window. I beleive this only happens with Windows XP however it might be due to screen resolution, I haven't troubleshooted it much.
Im having odd problems with how my form is displaying at runtime...if you look at the 2 attachments you can see at runtime the labels disappear under the check box's, but at design time they are positioned perfectly.
This always happens to me in Visual Basic. Whenever I save a project from one day and open it again using that same VB version the next day, I can never see the form design. But if I click on Debug, I can see the Form design and only use it as if it were a program.
I have created a custom Combobox and added it to my toolbox, and it works well. Now I have added a custom ListBox to the same file as the combo box, but it does not show on my designer when I place it. I can however add it at runtime. ''ComboBox <DefaultEvent("SelectedIndexChanged"), _ ToolboxBitmap(GetType(System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox))> _ Public Class ProjectsComboBox Inherits ComboBox ''My Customization [Code] ..... I have tried removing the "DefaultEvent..." and still no dice.
why i cant see the Form Design?and when i double-click the Form1.vb on the Solution Explorer i got error:does anyone here encounter this probz before?how to fix this.. (should i reinstall vbnet?)
I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a form with some text boxes on it. There was some code on that form which was giving errors. So I deleted the whole code. Now the problem is, I cannot see the form Design mode button to view it in design mode. But when I hit F5, I can see all the text boxes (in Run mode). I want to add some more controls on form. How to resolve this problem?
I'm having some problem with VB project in visual studio 2008, when I open or create a new project in VB only code is displayed in the design tab but no GUI and toolbox is greyed out.
In teh MVC design pattern, Controller is strongly related to the view (GUI). IN my application i need to generated a new BrandID, i used stored procedure to retreive the highest BrandID from teh DB (The model calls the stored procedure and sends the retreival value to the Controller), then in the controller increments the BrandID by "1" to create a new brand ID. SInce, controller is strogly related to "view", should i include this "brandID increment" part in teh controller or in the model classes?
Is there any keyboard combination out there that I could just press to show the Design of the form while viewing its code? I just find it a pain to right click then pressing the icon.
Have never used this website for such questions. Need to create a resume/ Have researched, but have had 4 resumes rejected from a design perspective. Cannot be just a normal resume. Background can be created in Photoshop, Logo in Illustrator.Think I have that one okay. More a problem with the background and design in Indesign.
I booted my computer today and tried to load my project. All I can find is the user interface.vb with all my code. The program runs fine, but I cannot find Form1.vb. How can I retrieve it?
i have created my own custom propertythe property is of type collection ,it displays a form which allow the user to add a list of images and strings,it stores the data in a collection ,my problem is , i have noticed that after adding items to the collection at design time , there is no code generated in the .Designer file of the form and there for when i close the for / save it and reload it , all the items that i added to my custom property are gone.my question , what did i miss here ? how do i make my custom property generate code at the .designer file for the items i have added to my property?
One of the problems that I constantly see with Winforms applications is that the GUI thread is stuck while a long-running task is running or just plain stops refreshing (yes, I know - needs threading). Is there a code template/design pattern I can use when reacting to mouse clicks or button presses? Should there be a processing thread always running in the GUI app? Basically, how do I write a great Winforms Application that is easy to maintain and doesn't have any quirky refresh bugs?
i m trying to develop a billing sw using vb.net as front end and ms sql as back end. i 'll need two tables for this. So, how can i design avb.net form for this purpose.... means what tools should be used for item entries
I was loading my project when my computer rebooted suddenly. After it came back up, I went to load my project again and got an error about "an error occured when loading in the design view..this has been disabled" - sorry I did not get the exact message but it was something like this. Then when my project opened up, I now cannot see my form in the design view anymore. It still run's fine, but there is no code displayed and the form itself does not display in IDE anymore. I can see the code for the form only on the form.designer.vb mode.I have continues backup installed, and restored several versions of the class files for the form, but yet still no luck.
