I am once more having throuble linking my visual basic code to the acompanying database. this current error is when I'm trying to add a new record to the database, using an OleDb dataAdapter: Whenever I run it, I get the error "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement."
I am suddenly getting an into statement error and can not seem to figure out why When I try to update a .csv file I get: syntax erroe in INSERT INTO statement When I try an update a textfile I get: The INSERT INTO statement contains the following unknown field name: 'SellingPrice'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and try the operation again.
I use the following code to write to a Foxpro DBF. The SQL table I am reading from has 9500 rows. When I loop through the following code, I get an error after about 940 rows. There is nothing wrong with the SQL data. The message I get is 'Variable Q940P65 is not found'

The idea is to detect if the cell of the first datagrid column is null and display the message. However, the code is not detecting the cell as null and the table adapter is throwing the OleDb exception.

I have a script that checks a version table from one mdb (server) and compares it to the same table in another mdb (user folder), if the version number is mismatched it needs to replace that file from the server, to the user folder. The problem is, how to get the OLEDB connection to the user folder since, the folder destination is E:Configurator & UserName & Detail2004.mdb How to set this up?
Here is my code: Dim UserName As String = Environment.UserName.Substring(Environment.UserName.LastIndexOf("") + 1) Dim connectionString2 As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" + "Data Source=C:Configurator" & UserName & "Detail2004.mdb" Dim con2 As New Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionString2) Dim cmd2 As Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand
basically i am doing a golf scoring project in vb.net express 2008 and im trying to update a specific row in the table depending on the user i am updating. however it doesnt work and the error message that appears says that there is a syntax error in the update statement but i have no idea where the error is. msgbox(sql) shows that all of the variables are what they should be so i dont think its that.
I've run my program on one computer fine, however when I run it on another PC which has high security settings I have a OleDB permission problem, can I access my DB another one which will avoid the IT department getting to involved to much? (they just very busy right now)

I have a rather perplexing issue. I am using VB.net and SQL for my project.I have a database, to which the connection works. I also have a data table and data adaptor, both of which I know work.I am trying to update something in the database, yet it isn't working. Assume everything listed is declared correctly. What am I doing wrong?
Label4.Text = Label4.Text & " " & TextBox1.Text is this code correct to add value to label4 from tetxbox1 at run time?so that the label content should look like this 45 56 67 89 .the should be appended in the label4 whatever i enter in the textbox1.Also these value should be added in the database as list of items in the single field.so that i can retrieve these values in a listbox that is in the another form .
I am trying to update table to access database in vb.net after changing password. I've got a problem whereby I get Permission Denied while accessing a database via OleDB. I know how to unlock this but i'm not permitted to do so. I was wondering if ODBC would work? I'm not sure on the settings around this on my the PC where I'm going to use this application but wonder if this has less security around it. your thoughts until I can test this next week. Or is there another way you may know that I can use a database. (access)
I keep getting the error shown in the screenshot below. To me it's saying that I haven't established the "UpdateCommand" property for the DataAdapter. However,I have established it as well as the "SelectCommand", "InsertCommand" and "DeleteCommand".All of these are created within a Class Module.I created a Class for the "tblControl" table that is is referencing. This class contains all the properties for this table as well as calls for "inserting", "updating", "selecting" and "deleting" records.I have attached a class.vb file so their is a clearer understanding. The highlighted line of code below is where I'm receiving this error message.[code].....
I'm receiving this message while trying to add a NEW client record as well as a NEW client Address record to the database. This portion works fine. I get the error message when I try to UPDATE the tblControl table with the new ClientID. The below code is where I do the inserts and update.By the way, I actually execute the "control.ControlOleDbCommands()", which establishes the adpControl DataAdapter Commands, when the program starts.[code].....

Why this code doesn't work? It doesn't print the label with the correct thing.
title is a bit vague. Is there any way I can tell if it's the user or the code that's altered a combobox? I want certain things to happen when a combobox is updated, but I don't want them to happen when the code is altering the combobox at runtime, only when the user selects something out of them. Unfortunately, if I use the 'Selectedindexchanged' option that triggers when I change the contents in code too. I've tried disabled the combobox while I update it, but that doesn't seem to work. Any way to detect user input only? My combobox is drop-down only by the way, so it's only if they select an option - they can't type anything.
