Combobox Change - Distinguish Between User And Code Update?

title is a bit vague. Is there any way I can tell if it's the user or the code that's altered a combobox? I want certain things to happen when a combobox is updated, but I don't want them to happen when the code is altering the combobox at runtime, only when the user selects something out of them. Unfortunately, if I use the 'Selectedindexchanged' option that triggers when I change the contents in code too. I've tried disabled the combobox while I update it, but that doesn't seem to work. Any way to detect user input only? My combobox is drop-down only by the way, so it's only if they select an option - they can't type anything.

I have a combobox on a form with the dropdownstyle set to drop down. Users can either salect a value from the list, or type in any value they wish. This all works fine. However, when one particular item in the list is selected I wish to set a different value. Unfortunately I don't appear to be able to set the combobox Text property from within any of the events that fire when the selected item is changed.

the below statment is right 100% but what i need is to change the word mobinil when the user choose another item from the combobox

I have a User Control which is a customer input form.I'm working on a sales system, when generating a sale, the customer data is populated by a Javascript Auto Complete, but when loading a saved sale, I need to paste a User ID into the control programatically.

When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.

I have two combobox in a form: Cb1 and Cb2
When I load the form, Cb1 and Cb2 are connected to a bindingsource.
When I change Cb1, the code (below) changes Cb2 to show only the items according to Cb1
This is working fine.
The problem is when I change Cb1 , change Cb2 and click the save button..... Cb2 seems to be 'lost'...
I'm using VS2008.

I have a barcode scanner connected to a PC that working with a c# program.now i want to distinguish between the scanner and the keyboard which one is sending data to my program.
somebody said this to me in another topic(but i can't do this yet): basically you can configure the scanner to send some characters that basically tell the computer "hi, it's me". When you see those characters in your input stream, you know the information is coming from the barcode scanner, not from something the user typed on the keyboard. Did you check the manual that came with your barcode scanner? It should have more information about this.

I want my to create an explorer like application. What control should i use to show the contents of a directory.I tried listview and listbox. Put a Datagridview on a form, fill it with data. dgv1.enabled = True and dgv1.enabled = False are almost the same look to the eye unlike other controls (textbox,combo, listview, etc ...) where there back color changed to light grey and you can distinguish if that control is enabled or disabled but not for Datagridview.

How do I distinguish copying data and a pointer when using a class?E.g.

I'm getting familiar now with using the Dataset Designer and how it makes for quick and easy updates and query of tables. I use to use the OleDB commands and leave the Connection String as a Global Constant so I can easily change it if the server name changes, or if we have to re-direct the .NET to another instance of the database.
But now that I use the Dataset designer I'm concerned that I maintain flexibility and support in the long run. how the Dataset designer works and where it stores it's connection string info? And how difficult that would be to update. It looks like I modify the App.config file, but I'm unfamiliar with this.
What am I getting myself into? It looks like a standard XML file. Is that it?

The scenario is I would like to be able reference two similar 3rd party assemblies (e.g. assem1 and assem2) which both define a type with the same fully qualified name (e.g. Example.MyType). Is there any way to distinguish between these and refernce them seperately? I believe the answer is no but confirmation or correction would be handy. I have inherited an application that uses telerik controls. This is my first time to work with it and I'm a little confused.I have a RadComboBox that has its values hard coded. When the user selects an item, a RadGrid is refreshed to show the records that correlate with the item the user selects from this combo box. This all works great.I'm trying to create link buttons, so that when the user clicks on one, the RadComboBox value is changed to whatever value I set it to in the codebeind page and the RadGrid is refreshed to show the appropriate records.I can set the value of the RadComboBox, and see what value it has when debugging, but the RadComboBox in the browser does not reflect the change and the RadGrid is not refreshed when I programatically execute the event handler for it.
