I can't seem to get this to work so I need a fresh set of eyes on it! I have a combobox dropdown with some names. When I select a certain name from the list, I want it to change the textbox property.I tried :if combobox1.selecteditem= "edward" thentextbox1.maxlength= "2"
I have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.
title is a bit vague. Is there any way I can tell if it's the user or the code that's altered a combobox? I want certain things to happen when a combobox is updated, but I don't want them to happen when the code is altering the combobox at runtime, only when the user selects something out of them. Unfortunately, if I use the 'Selectedindexchanged' option that triggers when I change the contents in code too. I've tried disabled the combobox while I update it, but that doesn't seem to work. Any way to detect user input only? My combobox is drop-down only by the way, so it's only if they select an option - they can't type anything.
Can I use LINQ to return an item in a collection that is the same TYPE as the items in the collection? I am a LINQ Noob trying to avoid looping.
Dim mostRecentlyCreatedQuestionnaire As ParentQuestionnaireItem = CType((From P In questionnaireCollection Order By P.Metadata.CreateDate Descending).Take(1), ParentQuestionnaireItem)
I get an "unable to CAST" error when I include the CTYPE function. I kind of expected that error, but I imagine that if I coul dnot do this, LINQ's usefulness would be diminished and therefore assume that there must be a way..
I have an issue with getting a null value. I created a conditional statement that would response to each function. If the value is 0 it will respond to this function "GenCodeAndSendSMSNotRegistered" and if its not a null value, it will respond to this function "GenCodeAndSendSMS". The problem is, if i get a null value, the script will juz do nothing. however, if there is a value, the script will work. I dont understand of whats happening here..
Dim objectsList as List(Of Object) = GetAllObjects() ' Filter from Objects just Persons ' Dim peopleList as List(Of Person) = ???
What is the most efficient and effective LINQ expression to do it?
EDIT
1 Dim selectedObjects As List(Of Object) = GetAllObjects()
2 Dim selectedPeople As IEnumerable(Of Person)= selectedObjects.OfType(Of Person)
3 Dim people As List(Of Person) = selectedPeople.ToList()
Error on 3:
Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable(Of Person))' cannot be converted to 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Person)'.
I want to bind a column of a strongly typed dataset to a combobox. But the problem is i have to get only the distinct values from the column and also when a user inserts a value into that column the new value should be showned in the combobox at the same time. And also i want to make the first row of the combobox to be unselectable..[code]how to make this column distinct values
I have 2 table in my dataset i want to add both table column names to the combobox.. how can I add the other table to the datacolumncollection?
'gets column names from typed datset and uses as combobox in datagridview Dim columns As DataColumnCollection = DataSet1.Tables(1).Columns Dim column As DataColumn
I am designing a form to Enter new City Name list where i accept following fields
CityName, District, State, Country, Pin.
because a State names and Country names can be retrived from earlier entries, i want to allow user to select desired name from a list in combo box or a list in Auto Complete Custom Source for text box, to do this i have added a Table Adapter to underlying DataSet having Query "SELECT DISTICT STATE FROM CITY ORDER BY STATE".
Now, how do i use this Table Adapter to fill the ComboBox List without binding
I got picturebox and 1 combobox with pic 1 (red) and pic 2 (blue) and if i take pic 1 (red) will the picture show at the picturebox and i if i click pic 2, the blue pic will come =)
I need to be able to change the connection string of a strongly typed dataset at runtime. I have gone into the settings.vb page and written this code:
Namespace My 'This class allows you to handle specific events on the settings class: ' The SettingChanging event is raised before a setting's value is changed. ' The PropertyChanged event is raised after a setting's value is changed. ' The SettingsLoaded event is raised after the setting values are loaded. ' The SettingsSaving event is raised before the setting values are saved. [Code] .....
The way the code is suppose to work is that when a user logs in, the application gets the user's site ID (gvUserSite), then uses that to set the connection string. But when I log on with a SiteID of "21" it always uses the Case Else value. Also when I set breakpoints in settings.vb the application never stops on the breakpoints I set during runtime. As if the breakpoints were never set. Also if I put any code in the "MySettings_SettingChanging" in settings.vb I get a runtime error "The debugger cannot continue running the process. Process was terminated.
I am a beginer in vb.net. For a school project, i have chosen inventory control as the subject. WIth help from videos, i have developed some basic forms with adding/updating.
The product table design is like this:
Name Type Size
[Code]...
Now, i am designing the purchase/sales screens. I am showing the items name, qty, price in a datagrid. From the products table, I am able to select the 'ProductName' by giving it a combobox . I want the ProductSellingPrice also to appear in the next column of the grid.
I have two drop down. SelCurrentManuf and selCurrentModel. I want the option in selCurrentModel to change depending on the option selected in selCurrentManuf. How do i do it?
This is how i am currently populating selCurrentModel
Public Sub PopulateCurrentModel() Dim mySelectQuery As String = "SELECT * FROM Model where ManufID = "+ selCurrentManuf.Text+";" Dim myConnection As New MySqlConnection(Session("localConn"))
[Code]...
but it only populates the first selected manuf, and doesnt change after
Private Sub selCurrentManuf_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles selCurrentManuf.SelectedIndexChanged PopulateCurrentModel() End Sub
I have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:
Private Sub cbMaterialType_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles cbMaterialType.DrawItem If MaterialTableAdapter1.GetData.Item(cbMaterialType.SelectedIndex).InStock = 1 Then cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Green Else cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red End If End Sub
I've never worked with any form of color in comboboxes before and this is my first attempt at the drawitem event.
I'm having a problem with combo boxes. I usually use Java and it's been awhile since I used VB but I never remember having this much difficulty. My application is using an SDF file. From Data Sources, I drag the details on one of my Tables to my Form to get all of the fields. Three of them are comboboxes. Each of the three is an INT64 and each corresponds to a primary key in a different table. I click the tasks button on a combobox and for data source I select the appropriate table that has the data to go with the combobox, for display member I select the field that I want users to see, and for value member I select the primary key. Then I run a quick test and start the app, open the form, and add a new record. When I select a value from the combobox the selection won't validate because it doesn't think it's an INT64 like it should be. It seems to be using the display member as the actual value instead because if I change display member to the primary everything works great.
I have a form in my vb.net application used to take the data about the returned stock. The form contains two comboboxes. One, named combobox5, contains invoice numbers and the other, named combobox3, contains party codes. Both the comboboxes are pre_loaded using sqldataadapter.
Now what i want is to change the party code in combobox3 when the invoice number is changed in combobox5. Elaborating it further, When Stock is issued the party code is stored along with the invoice number to keep track of to which party was the stock issued. Now when stock is returned i want to keep track that which party has returned the stock and i want that the party code should be automatically selected when the invoice number is changed and it should be what is stored in the database against that particular invoice number....
I'm using the following code for doing so:
Private Sub ComboBox5_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox5.SelectedIndexChanged ' defines a new connection to the database Dim con As New SqlConnection("Data Source=TAHA;Initial Catalog=ADT;Integrated Security=True")
how do i get my code to load into a combobox and once i select an id from the combo box it then displays the next field in a textbox that goes with the combos id record?. This is the code thatg i current use to connect to the database.?
code
Imports System.Data.OleDb Module Module1 Public myConn As New OleDbConnection Public myCmd As New OleDbCommand
IT STILL GIVES A MSGBOX IF I SELECT THE CHECKBOX BOX OR NOT ....My code below will redirect to Google in both conditions: If the user selects the checkbox, then it will redirect to www.google.com, but if a user forgets to check the checkbox then it shows the msg box with an ok button. When I click on ok it should redirect to www.google.com
I want When a user forgets to check any of the checkboxes to show a msgbox with an ok button and stay on the same page. Otherwise if user selects any of the checkboxes then redirect to google
I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.
What Im making is like a face book and tagged login from my app
1. I have Combobox with 3 urls in there ( Facebook.com Tagged.com and Bebo.com ) 2. I have a Form2 with webbrowser 3. I have a Button when clicked it should open up my form 2 and preview of the website which I selected in my combobox in form1
All I'm trying to do is when I select lets say facebook in my form 1 and click load it should open up my form 2 with facebook website in it.[code]Now when I click my button in form 1 it will load Form2 ( named Explorer1) but my form2 is not showing me facebook or tagged page for some reason
