Error Writing To OLEDB File From SQL Table - VS2010

May 12, 2011

I use the following code to write to a Foxpro DBF. The SQL table I am reading from has 9500 rows. When I loop through the following code, I get an error after about 940 rows. There is nothing wrong with the SQL data. The message I get is 'Variable Q940P65 is not found'

Public g_OLEDB_ConnectionString As String = "Provider=vfpoledb;Data Source=N:;Collating Sequence=machine;"
dim strSQL as string = "INSERT INTO STATEUSR(DATEFIELD, STATECODE, MINAMOUNT) VALUES(?,?,?)"

Change The Delimiter When Writing Access Table To A Text File?

Nov 2, 2010

How can I change the delimiter when writing my Access table to a text file? I was hoping it would be as easy as adding a similar option like we do for HDR=No; maybe Delimiter=|

Dim AccessConn As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=|DataDirectory|mydatabase.mdb")

AccessConn.Open()Dim AccessCommand As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT * INTO[Text;HDR=No;DATABASE=" & userPath & "].[" & fileName & "] FROM tblMyTable", AccessConn)
AccessCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
AccessConn.Close()

Writing To A File Error?

Jul 30, 2011

I had one semester of vb.net in college and it was lacking at best. I am trying to write a few lines to a file on my desktop. When i implement the program it will actually find a file in a network share but the concept should be the same. I am basically writing a program to combine multiple csv files into a single file. I have the entire program written except combining the files. this is my code so far. it's incomplete but after i can figure this issue out the rest should be pretty easy. i will later on add parameters and all that fun stuff.

Public Sub writeFirstLine()
fileWriter = New System.IO.StreamWriter("cusersmyusernamedesktopforktruckfile.csv") 'the error happens at this line

[Code]....

I have a file already on my desktop with this name. in the actual program i will have to create it or delete it and all that fun stuff but for simplicity at the moment i just need to find the file.

at the moment it gives me an error that says directory not found. it seems to be looking for a file in the project folder instead of on my desktop. how can i get it to look at my computer instead of the file the project is held in?

Error While Writing Into Access File?

Sep 10, 2011

What i've written opens an Access database and one can read and write into it (on a table called Journal)It does indeed work for newly made Access files. However it doesnt work with a specific Microsoft Access database (again .mdb) which was made with a very old Access, like Access 2000 or something.The error message is: Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.Inside the zipped file below you will find the source code of the program, along with an access file that the program CAN read, and the one access file that i NEED the program to reed but it cannot!

To see what i mean run the program one, try to add a new line to the database. you get an error!now rename the Journal.mdb to "journal.bak.mdb. And the journal_working.mdb to Journal.mdb try to add a new line to the database again without altering the source code at all. it succeeds now!!

NOTE: the program can READ data from both files. but it CANT write data to the old access file

this is the code:

Dim cb As New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(da)
Dim dsNewRow As DataRow
dsNewRow = ds.Tables("AddressBook").NewRow()
dsNewRow.Item(1) = txtFirstName.Text 'or .Item(1) =

Error With Creating Then Writing To A Txt File

Nov 28, 2011

I am trying to create a countdown to a date that the user can enter. I think I got most of the code in the button that saves the date. It gets the date the user entered in comboboxes, creates a txt file, then writes all the information to that txt file. I tested it out, but it didn't work. It created the file, but when it tried to write to it, it errored. The error says "The process cannot access the file 'C:Countdown.txt' because it is being used by another process." This is the code.

Dim enteredmonth As String = monthcb.SelectedItem

Writing Log Alerts And Error Messages Into TXT File?

Aug 30, 2011

For testing purposes, I write a lot of alerts and error messages into a .txt file (some 15 entries per second). At the end of the day, the txt file becomes very large. I am now getting confronted with data loss in my application (threads indicated as being busy). Could it be that my entries in the Log.txt are slowing down my application to the point that the latter becomes unstable ?

VS2010 .NET And Windows 7 Access Denied On Writing To Or Creating Files In Project Files Folder?

May 22, 2012

Ok I know this question has been asked to death but I still have not seen a good answer. I have created an application in VS2010 using VB.NET. In my application I have an error log that is an XML file located in the Public gstLocalErrorLogLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "ErrorLog"that gets written to in the event of an error so I can trouble shoot application easier. My application also downloads files from our FTP site and puts the files in Public gstLocalDownloadLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "download"So I have files that get read and written to as well and created and deleted all in the Application.StartupPath which is either "c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" or "c:Program Files (x86)(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" depending on 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.

After creating the setup I install it on my test machine that have both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.Everything in the application works great till I have to write to, delete or creat a file in those directories above. I know it is an access issue and the UAC. This will get installed on numerous systems so the options I have seen to change file or folder permission on the computers manually is not an option.What has to happen is after I install the application it just works like when you install it on XP. Some post have suggested that you us a user with administrator privilages or group which is all fine and dandy but the user I have used to test the application has all of that.

So what I am asking is how do you create an application with VS2010 in VB.NET that after creating a setup package and installing on Windows 7 will just work with out "Access to the path c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File) is denied." If I have to install this on 100 Windows 7 computers it has to be a concreate no manually doing anything just install and work like when we installed on XP.

Reading A Sql Table And Writing To Another Sql Table?

Aug 22, 2010

i need to read a sql table and insert all the records into another sql table in the same schema. It sounds dead simple but I've spent weeks trying different methods with no success.I'm using a datareader on the source table and a dataset on the target table. The program errors on the second iteration of the loop saying "@FunderAgreementNo" has already been declared. This is because I have the Parameter mappings contained in the loop (I think). I've tried moving this code elsewhere but then get different errors.

VS 2010 : Establish An OLEDB Connection And Return The Values From The Selected Table To A DataGridView?

Apr 16, 2010

I am unable to load the dat into the data Grid. Here is where I keep getting stuck.

dgvOleDb1 = table.Select
dgvOleDb1.DataSource = DataGridViewEditMode.EditProgrammatically
dgvOleDb1.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)

I am confused; I am using VB2010, IBM.iSeries.DB2 on an as400 V5R4. I am trying to establish an OLEDB connection, and return the values from the selected table to a DataGridView. I had one of the admin's make me file named GARBAGE, in the Rprtaccess catalog. In the past, I have been able to connect via access and an ODBC connection. My project is too big for access, and the SQL middleware we have is clunky and not user friendly. This is a program that will generate the SQL statements, specifically the WHERE: clause and populate the datagrid with the selected criteria. In essence I am making a user friendly striped down program, that has variables that are manipulated by the end user, and the rest, referenced tables and libraries are coded.
