We need to start implementing verbose runtime output to assist with debugging on end users machines. If the executable is launched with a particular parameter, we need this to kick in. This is not necessarily "error" logging, but runtime logging to see exactly which lines of code have been executed. We literally have to add an output line after each line of code in every function. Without question, this is extremely tedious.
I was hoping there might be a better way at doing this, such as possibly using reflection at runtime to somehow output which line of code in which module just completed.
I am using this to capture output from the command line: url...Is there a way to modify that, so I can get the results as they are updated? [code]Is there a way to capture that output every time it is updated so I can change a text box as it get updated?
If I am debugging from within Visual Studio, if an exception is thrown, the stack trace includes the assembly, method name and line number from the source code where the exception was raised. After running the installer, none of this information appears in the stack trace.
How do I get more verbose stack trace information in an executable created from an installer? I have set the Solution Configuration to Debug in Solution properties and defined a Debug constant in the project Compiler Advanced Options.
I am having an issue with naming buttons based on the line output. I can a message box to pop up with each line, however I would like to have each button named different lines of the output.
vb.net Private Function nview_run() As Boolean Dim nview_runProcess As New Process() Dim nview_runStartInfo As New ProcessStartInfo()
I have a program that runs a command line and retrieves the output, but the output I receive is unorganized and run-on. Since 3 processes are being run, I'd like each process results to be listed on a different line.
Here is the code: Dim viewteam = Page.Request.Form("viewteam") Dim arg As String = "/c net localgroup hglocal-" & viewteam & "-gold" Dim arg2 As String = "/c net localgroup hglocal-" & viewteam & "-rw"
This isnt the first time i have posted about a graph, last time i was posting about which way i should do it, now that i have created the graph (by drawing individual lines) i was wondering what the easiest way to actually get data from a SQL database and output it as a line on a graph. here is a picture of what the graph looks like (bottom of the page) [URL]
I have 2 VB programs that I would like to communicate with each other, but I want them to be separate EXEs. Anyway, the easiest way I figured would be for me to call the one program from the other and then return a result. How do I get this result into another program?
Here is how I want it to work:
1. Start System Information Program (easy)
2. Call a video test program, and send a couple arguments (see below)
3. Receive arguments from the video test (I do not know how to do this, I do not know how to send from the video test or receive from the system information)
For example the user has typed a list of names in a text field (1 on each line)
jerry mark mark93 ewji84 fjkewo93
the program will auto fill this in the submission form jerry
when it finished the first registration now moves on to the second string: mark
and so on....
I already made the multiline text boxes and the main functionality of my bot, all I need now is the program to submit multiple keywords from user input and it should be 1 keyword in the field per submission.
what i need to do is open a txt file, read line by line, decode each line into an array and display. Now all works ok apart from one line.
sTextLine = objReader.ReadLine() <-- Value of string cannot be converted.
full code here ------------- Dim objReader As New System.IO.StreamReader(sOpenFile.Text) Dim sTextLine As New ArrayList() Dim sText As String = "" Dim i As Integer = 0
So what happens is. I have this JAVA Code which i am making out of a vb form to help me develop quicker in that. So, when i click "Button1" a formula enhances and gives an output "TEXT" Which i want to choose what lines it shows on my "MultiLine Textbox".
Basically, How do i make it so when i click a BUTTON a text is written in a MULTILINE-TEXTBOX which i get to choose which bits of the text goes on which line.
the example is: ("this goes on line 1") ("this goes on line 2") ect.
I am getting a "NULL VALUE error in the output line in the sub displayArray. I'm told it is because my array isn't set up to increment. I took a stab at incrementing it but not quite sure how it should be written. Also, the sample program I started with displayed array contents in a messagBox. I need to display in my label box.
Public Class MainForm1 Dim gender As String Dim grade As String
I need to out each line of text to a seperate textbox. or label. Im not sure about a string. Can a string hold a value like, "192.168.1.1 2302"? If so, then how would i output it to a string. If not, textbox or label please. Please keep it simple as possible, since I will probably be needing to repeat this process 500 times, like, a different string for each line, i will have a lot of lines. Dont care about the textbox limit, as long as all the lines are outputted to each textbox.[code]
how to redirect outputs from console to a window form text box,but the console application I'm using is always running real time, thus my .net application hangs until I close the program that is read real time. The code displays the application to a 2nd form with a textbox multi line. Until I close that my entire program hangs and the console application monitored runs.
How do I code it to:
1. Run real time without hanging the entire program.
2. the console app must run at all times. (figured how to hide/ and no window created for it)
Sub Console() Form2.Show() Dim myCon As New Process myCon.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
I am trying to read in a TextBox line by line and take the first 7 characters of each line and output everything in another TextBox.This is what I have so far.
Dim line, lines() As String lines = TextBox1.Text.Split(Environment.NewLine) Dim i As Integer = 0
My project is similar to JM's Manipulating GDI+ Drawings and NickThissen's Shape Editor. I haven't used their code though, I've written my own similar code. My shapes are custom controls.
All the shapes are working fine. But I'm having trouble with line control.
1. I've tried my own line control. But to resize/move I need to write separate code. The common code that works for all other shapes is not working.
2. I've tried VB Powerpack 3 Line Control, but moving/resizing it in runtime is too much complicated. It is NOT a real control. (I guess) It is directly drawn over a "ShapeContainer" control. So, i have to write custom code for this too.
I have this code which creates a picturebox during runtime and displays line graph but I always get an error in this line: gr1.DrawImage(pic1.Image, -m_Dx, 0) 'it says Value cannot be null. Parameter name: image
code Public Class Form1 Private Const m_Dx As Single = 1 Dim data As Integer = 1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim pic1 As New PictureBox
I'm trying to read a file line by line into an array but It skips the item at index:3 I have it msgboxing just to make sure and it wont even touch it.
Dim Btn As Button = DirectCast(sender, Button) Dim path As String = Application.StartupPath & "Libraries" & Btn.Text.Replace(" ", "_") & ".ipt" Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim lines As String() = IO.File.ReadAllLines(path)
Is there an easy way to consume xml to access any of the nodes directly without reading line by line? Here is a sample set of the xml working with. It contains two records of data. I am trying to find a way to load it so if I wanted to get say PostalCode and say Site SID value quickly.
HTML <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><MainSite><MainSites Found="201" Returned="20" Status="0"><Site SID="123456"><Relevance>0.985</Relevance><Title>JDoe</Title><DateModified Date="2010-01-29T01:05:00">1/29/2010</DateModified><DateCreated Date="2010-01-29T01:05:00">1/29/2010</DateCreated><PersonalData><Confidential>0</Confidential><Name><First>John</First><Middle>
I am using WebBrowser1.DocumentText to get a websites source code, and then parse a string. I am trying to view the source line by line, and doing it as follows:
[Code]...
However what is displayed is each character from the source code, rather than the line. I am making the client log into a website, and the needed value from the source code is then parsed, so I need to use the WebBrowser type to get the source code.
I am developing a program where i will download and save an xml file from a url as abc.xml. I open the abc.xml in a datagridview with a dataset without problem.I am confused how can i read raw per raw the datagridview and assign the data in a database table? i am using vb 2008 + msde2005 express.I show the whole content of the xml file in the datagridview with the following [code]I dont know how to create a loop where i can read the datagridview line by line save data in variables (ex.strings) and save it in a databese table?
I have a couple of VB6 programs which work 100%, however not under W7, so I need to upgrade them to Visual studio 2008 pro which I own a copy of.The VB6 software used to open a file, read in a line of data and process it then save it in a new file, before going on to the next line input.I need to convert this process to VS2008 pro and can't get my head around it..... getting old you see.I also have a few other needs to do with file handling, but I may be able to sort them myself if I get a start with the above problem....
I have a list of random numbers in my text file.I read it like this.
Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C: est.txt" Dim TextLine As String If System.IO.File.Exists(FILE_NAME) = True Then
[code]....
How can I separate that in to 2 listbox?In my ListBox1 I want add lines with starting number like this ( 0905, 0906, 0915, 0916, 0917, 0926, 0927 ) And in my ListBox2 is with numbers start with this ( 0909, 0910, 0912, 0918, 0919, 0920, 0921, 0928, 0929 )How can I compare lines by multiple choices like that?
Dim sFileName As String Dim srFileReader As System.IO.StreamReader Dim sInputLine As String sFileName = "D:UsersArbenDesktopSerieA.txt" srFileReader = System.IO.File.OpenText(sFileName)
[Code]...
under the code I pasted at the top, but I get the text on line1 in all labels, like all labels become 1, while the text should be 1, 2, 3 and so on. So anyone can help me do that, each label gets the value of the next line in the txt file
To read any form's text (except RichTextBox) line by line I've always used this splitting
Dim Lines() as String = Split(TextBox1.Text, vbNewLine)MsgBox(Lines(0))This code just works perfectly. But whenever I try this code on a RichTextBox like this:Dim Lines() as String = Split(RichTextBox1.Text, vbNewLine)MsgBox(Lines(0))The message box appears with the whole lines.I think maybe the RichTextBox1.Text() returns another new line character (means not vbNewLine).
