I have looked around and cannot find a way to download an image from a webbrowser without reloading the image or webbrowser AKA using the cached image.
I have a weird bug with webclient. I made an app a while ago which uses webclient to download a small thumbnail image.. and I rememeber when I first made it, the first time webclient was used to download the image it always took 15 sec+ to download it, but after the first it always downloaded quickly (in like 1 sec) .. but then the problem went away for me and it always downloaded fine.but now someone else who uses my app is having the slow image download problem apparently around 50% of the time it downloads the thumbnail images. so does anyone know what might be causing this? As I said, I don't have the problem any more on my comp - but I don't know why :s

I am using the code below to download an image from the web. (Please don't say there are easier ways, i know that but i want to use this way) The problem is, is that i think the script is going trough all the 1000000 bytes defined. If i use less than this, the image sometimes comes out half done (like the bottom is gray) and if i use more i get a memory exception. Is there a way to use precisely enough? (So just as much as the image is?)

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?

Ive been programming in VB6 for years, i figured its time for an upgrade. Here's what im doing, and what the problem is:
Im loading a bunch of pictures on top of one image. They are all PNG files, and some of the images have transparent edges, and some semi-transparency within the image itself.
So basically, i need to be able to load these images on top of the other images, and still maintain the transparency.
Is this possible in VB08? This is one of the main reasons i moved to 08 from vb6, more things possible including multithreading.

now here is the weird part. When I save the image the filesize INCREASES..but the picture dimensions are the same Example... TEST.PNG 1.3KB, when opened up via picturebox/saved the image is now 2.3KB

samething with JPG... it actually SHRINKS it evenmore.. example 88KB jpeg.. saved as jpeg is now 47.7KB...

I am trying to read a 16bit binary file (tif image) and pixel values of the image ranges from 1200 to 4500. I tried to use BinaryReader using ReadUInt16 but I get EndOfStreamException Unhandled error. ReadByte method works fine with an 8bit tif file. I do not know how to read a 16bit image file using binaryReader. Shouldn't I use ReadUInt16 since values of pixels range from 1200 to 4500?

For the last months I'm busy with programming a tool for check links, not just normal links but filehosting links like fileserve etc. All fine. But when the tool needs to check more then 5000 links, he will do it very, very slow. He can be busy for like two days. I have built an Updater for my application, It connect to my webserver and downloads a txt file which works fine, But when it comes to download the new exe from the webserver is exceptions saying that the file was not found on the server, But if I copy and paste the address into the web browser it comes up with a file download box.Is this by design for security reasons and is there a way around it or is something wrong? I'm using this code to download a file from ftp server,it works fine but progress bar doesn.'t update, WClient_ProgressChanged is raised only at 100% downloaded.Download time isn't so fast is about 27 seconds for a 17Mb file.
