Saving Data From A Data Grid To An Access Database (2008 Express)?
May 18, 2010I'm trying to create a simple Data Grid that will automatically save changes. So far I have a data grid connected to a MS Access 2007 Database that reads the data. I can create new fields in the Data Grid, but I need to program to save the data automatically to the database on update (or on close).

May 31, 2011I used to be a web developer in vb.net 2008 , now i get involved in some projects with application development. Which is the right way i mean the proffesional way to connect to database , syntax a query and bind the result to datagrid?I see 2 ways , the first is using the wizard i mean drag to the form the databinder from the toolbox and follow the wizard step by step , the second way is the same way i used in web development i get the connection string from app.config , syntax a query inside my code and follow manually steps to retrive the data from a database.which way to use for a large application projects?

Mar 15, 2009At moment iam trying to fetch some data out of a mysql database.hope i can explain well what i try to do.Okay i made a form with some text field and a combobox.What i want is at start when the form loads that all the last name will get catcht out of the mysql database. all those last names should go in the combobox.now i have a few textboxes like adress phone number living place go onWhat i try to do now is when all those lastnames are in the combo box when i select a nameand press the button to update that it will catch the info from that user out of the mysql database and puts the info in the right textfields.What i got so far is a succesfull connection to the mysql database.
How do i know that my login to the application is also connected to the database and that one works fine ;)the only thing i cant manage is to take the data out of mysql and put it in the textfields.i made a form called test to testthis out so far this is what i have on code

Mar 18, 2011I have a simple form with about 40 textboxes bound to an access database.I simply want the data entered on the form to be written to the database.I have search extensively but i am getting more confused.I dont want to use the binding navigator to do the record adding just a button.From what i understand the data has to be written to the dataset and then the datbase updated.But how do i get the form data into the dataset ?

Jan 22, 2010I am working on a project that stores data on animals. I am trying to make updates to data already stored there, through inputs on a VB form. A form where all the data is populating the fields shows up and the user can change/update any field. Once they are finished, they click update and the DB is supposed to reflect those changes (Theoretically)However, I wrote the code to do that, but when it runs nothing in the database is changed and nothing gets done, as it seems. No errors appear and nothing goes wrong with the program. It just doesnt change the data in the db.

Apr 14, 2009I have two forms in my program, Form1 has ListBox which contains names from the Database.Form2, has textbox and add button to get a new name from the user.but when I click on add button.. i return to Form1 to view the names in the listbox by clicking on view button: ALL NAMES ARE DISPLAYED WITHOUT THE NEW NAME.when I close my program and click on View button all names including the new name that was entered before are displayed ! is there a way to display everything in the database without closing the program??I need a way to refresh or something.

It is an inventory program I am doing on the side just to keep track of a small number of supplies, I want to be able to enter a barcode and have the program see if it already is in the inventory database, if not, it will allow me to enter information and add it to the database (That part works - Thanks to member on D.I.C.) If the barcode exists, I want it to fill the form with all the data from the database and allow me to update fields such as date used and used definition

The problem i am having is on my new customer form I cannot get the data in my text boxes to save into my database table at runtime. I simply have 4 textboxes and a save button the code for my save button is as follows:

Feb 27, 2012i'm using a timer to open a database and drop in a few fields of info, such as date, time and 3 traces.
the timer interval is set to 1000msec, but after its been running for a day or so, i've looked into the data and i can see there are periods where no info has been logged. sometimes its as little as a couple of seconds, and other times its upto a couple of minutes.

It's an appointment scheduler and everything works except two things: I can't edit existing appointments and it only records the current time, not the timeslot I click on when I add a new appointment. If I try to edit an existing appointment it doesn't get the row data, just shows me blank text boxes. I assume I have to have those text boxes read the info from the database, but I don't know how to do that. This is how it looks:
