I have a text file, with several lines of comma delimited data. The easy part is that each item fits into the same field, so I can use a 2 dimensional array. I would like to use .net classes to do this, not the old file handling functions I was used to.How can I take the text file and load the data in the text file into a 2 dimensional array.Here is example data in test.txt
1,1,1,2,2,2,1,1,1,3,3,3,4,4
2,3,4,5,1,1,1,2,3,4,5,1,1,1
2,3,4,5,6,1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4
So this would go into a (14,3) array.I would like to make sure, that the array is automatically sized to the size of the data also.

I'm trying to get my Applications title bar to change the text once the user loads up a file. So far I have gotten it so it will load up the File name into the title bar, but I would like it to show MicroText - OpenFileName... OpenFileName being the name of the file that was opened.

I'm trying to read and load the content from the attached text file to a arraylist with the code bellow.
but what is happening is that not all the lines from the text file are loaded in to the arraylist, the reading jumps from one line to other in the text file.
Dim FILE_NAME As String = ((My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath).Substring(0, (My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath).LastIndexOf(""))) & " est.txt"
Dim lista_barras As New ArrayList

I need to load a large txt file that is in a fixed width format. There are over 45K lines, so speed is important.I need to load one of the fields into a dropdown box and have another field (label) display the text of another field in the related line.I could import the file to an access db if needed, but would rather not as i also want the txt file to update from a link on a regular bases. So having it in a DB would be more work to process that part.[code]
View 1 RepliesI'm doing an error log in my code and I'm trying to output the errors to a text file with a specific date/time in the title so they can differentiate. I've tried things like

But I get this msg "The given path's format is not supported." all the time.

I am creating a Pizza Order program as part of my coursework college. why something isn't working.
Quote:
lblTotal.Text = Val(Form2.lblPizzaTotal.Text) + Val(Form3.lblDrinksTotal.Text)
The code above is what I am using to add the Value of Label 1 (Pizza Total) and Label 2 (Drinks Total), however it seems that in the final total it doesn't appear to add the value of Label 2.
I am wondering if there is a way to extract a file's title name from the FileName property.VB6's Common Dialong had "FileTitle". That seems to be gone. I have a small window app that does not have the room to display the full path as part of the window title.
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone know of a solution using the internal webbrowser, to grab a sites <title></title> tags?
As for now I have in my browser something like:
Me.Text = WebBrowser1.Url.ToString

I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click.What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.
Here is my code.[code..]
I cant seem to find any link or topic regarding my problem. I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.
View 13 RepliesBefore I begin I would like to mention that I am not a noob in VB, it's just I've never had to do anything this complex before. Basically what I want is to have a program that you can load a txt file in, have it copy key words, and paste it in a textbox so I can use it later on. So in this text file, there is a bunch of info, but I am only needing a certain part. Here is an example of a text file (actually a .dat file, but is easily read):

I want to load a csv file (A comma delimited text file) into a datatable. I found the OdbcDataAdapter Class which looks perfect, but it says it is supported only in version 1.1 of the .NET Framework.
Is there a better way to import a csv file into a datatable? the first line has the column headers.
I am using Visual Studio 2008, using version 3.5 of the .NET framework
Why the attached code will find only the first line from the text file.
