VS 2008 Integer Division And/or The Mod Function?

Mar 18, 2011

coding a shipping application where it adds .75 for every 100.00 dollars it would look something like this

0.00 to 100.00 = .75
100.01 to 200.00 = 1.50
200.01 to 300.00 = 2.25
300.01 to 400.00 = 3.00

and so on where the equaled value goes up .75 everytime i think i could use integer division and/or modulus

VS 2008 Too Many Arguments To 'Public Overridable Overloads Function Fill(dataTable As TetrisDataSet.tblTransactionDataTable) As Integer

May 14, 2009

I'm following this tutorial: [URL]..except I'm connecting to my own data source - a MS Access database.This is the query I have setup with the dataset:

SELECT Terminal_ID, SUM(Transaction_Quantity) AS Total
FROM tblTransaction
WHERE TransactionType_ID=3 and Transaction_DateTime>[@fromdate]
GROUP BY Terminal_ID

The debug fails immediately because it needs the extra parameter so I change the code from:

Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'tetrisDataSet.tblTransaction' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed.
Me.tblTransactionTableAdapter.Fill(Me.tetrisDataSet.tblTransaction)

[code].....

The error I get on build is:Too many arguments to 'Public Overridable Overloads Function Fill(dataTable As tetrisDataSet.tblTransactionDataTable) As Integer

...I gave it the extra parameter, so what gives? Something special I need to do as it's a datetime field?

.net - Function That Always Returns The Next Integer In A Sequence

Feb 10, 2012

I need top create a function that gets the next integer in the sequence of 1 to 60. Each time the function is called, I need it to increment from what the last value was and return the next number as the result. It also cannot return the same integer in 2 consecutive calls. When the count gets to 60, the sequence needs to reset back to 1. I would like to function to have no parameters.

I have created a function that does this using the cache to store the last value that was returned, but I am worried that with concurrent calls to the function that it might not work as I expect and 2 calls could get the same integer.

Is cache blocking the correct method to use in this instance or is there something other method I am not thinking about?

Also, stuck using .Net 3.5 and this is a web application.

I just wrote this function based on using SyncLock. Any obvious problems with it that I don't see? I am using the Cache to save the last value that was returned.

Private Shared Function GetNextNumber() As Integer
Dim o As Integer
Dim r As Integer

Check Password As Integer Function?

Function CheckPass as Integer
Dim
blnContainNumber As
Boolean
Dim
blnCotainNonNumeric As
Boolean
[Code] .....

When I compile this code...it gives me a Messagebox error that I wrote.."Password Invalid" even though I type the password that meets the criteria. I think the problem is that I don't have..."if atleast one numeric then" and "if atleast one non numeric then"...

Dec 31, 2009

This function doesn't work if I change the input argument 'pdu' from a string to an int.Would someone please help me figure out what to do here so that the checksum does not add the ascii value of the int argument but rather the actual integer value?I took out a few lines of the actual function but it adds the input argument to a packet sent out via TCP protocol.This function shows the integer value just fine in the string that gets encoded as a byte array. the checksum is wrong.!

''Public Function buildpacket(pdu As Integer) is what I want.

Raise Events - Generic Function For Sorting Integer Arrays

Aug 26, 2010

I am very confuse over a Raise Events example and using delegate as a function pointer: I am clear with this function pointer example program below which creates a generic sort function for sorting integer arrays without changing the main sort function.
' Returns True if need to swap
Delegate Function CompareFunc(ByVal x As Integer, _
ByVal y As Integer) _
As Boolean

Here are two alternative target methods for the delegate - one for an ascending sort and one for a descending sort:
Function SortAscending(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Boolean
If y < x Then
SortAscending = True
End If
End Function
Function SortDescending(ByVal x As Integer, _
ByVal y As Integer) As Boolean

But while using oledbconnection these statements cause error. My code samples are below:

Approximating The Result Of A Division?

I've got a problem approximating the result of a division that should give a sharp result:

I use this code:

pListPrice *= 100 / (100 + VATPercentage)

where VATPercentage = 20D is declared as Decimal type. pListPrice = 25.2D is declared Decimal too.

The result should be: 21.00 sharp!

Instead I get 20.99999999999999999999D

Bug On Rounding On Division And MOD Of Integers?

Feb 11, 2012

I have a group of 25 labels named Label1, Label2, Label3, ... Label25 in a square of 5 per row, 5 per column and I wanted to assign the backcolor to all of them on a loop and assign a value of "True" or "False" to a matrix of 25 boolean values representing them.

But I was getting errors on the pattern created.

My approach was to use a substring containing a number copied from the label names:

Num = Val(sender.name.substring(5))

And the subindexes of the matrix:

p = (Num - 1) / 5
q = (Num - 1) Mod 5

The values for the lower corner of the matrix were rouded to 5 instead of being 4. Instead of (4,0) ,(4,1), (4,2), (4,3) (4,4) I was getting (5,0),(5,1)...(5,5)

So I solved the problem by creating two single variables "A" and "B", doing the divission and MOD operations on them, finding the floor of them and then converting to integer:

Private Sub Label1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles _
Label1.Click, Label2.Click, Label3.Click, Label4.Click, Label5.Click, _

Using Modulous And Division In An Exercise

Mar 6, 2005

This exercise says :"Write a program that inputs one number consisting of five digits from the user, separates the number into its individual digits and prints the digits separated from one another by three spaces each. For example, if the user types the number 42339, the program should print
4 2 3 3 9 Use the command window for input and output. [Hint: This exercise is possible with the techniques discussed in this chapter. You will need to use both division and modulous operations go "pick off" each digit.]"

Here is what I have learned in Chapter 3:

If/Then Statements
Console.Write()
Console.WriteLine()

[Code]....

This exercise I have yet to start, and don't think I will be able to do much, because I have no clue how to "Pick off" the numbers using division and modulous operators. I know what the mod operator does, but I do not know how to use it and division to do what this exercise is asking me to do.

VB 2010 - "3x3 Magic Square" - Use A Function That Returns An Integer Value?

Mar 16, 2011

I have a project to make a "3x3 magic square" and I'm not quite sure how to begin. A magic square is a 3x3 table of 9 values where the sum of the values along any row, column, or either diagonal all add up to the same value.I have to use listboxes to create a form displaying a table of 3 rows and 3 columns whose elements can be individually updated. The solution should have the following features:

- a procedure that initializes a Listbox to hold the value "?", representing the value "undefined", in each of its locations. The number of locations should be provided as a n additional parameter.

- a procedure that will update the contents of a listbox by replacing the currently highlighted entry with a value provided as a second argument. The program should at most have at most one entry among the listboxes highlighted.

I am trying to use a Function that returns an integer value: -1 if not all the elements on the table contain values, 0 if the rows/columns/diagonals don't sum up to the same value, or the sum common to all the rows columns, and diagonals is returned if everything is alright.The user will enter a 3x3 set of numbers. The program will monitor the status of the table as values are entered and displays the status in a textbox that describes if a magic square currently exists. If not all the entries have been made to the table, then the textbox should display a message indicating so.
