I see many programs using a menu strip similar to the folowing: My grey menu style just looks ugly... I guess I should not use the image as background, because XP has other style menustrips, so it must be some sort of menu strip. How can I make a menustrip with that style?
I use a menustrip as the main navigation for my program. Currently I have separate code for the menustip on each page. Recently I found that I could create a form template using inheritance and include the menu strip on the template. The problem I run into is that when I open another form using the menu strip the original form is still open and my references to me.close are no longer active. Is there a way to close the form that the user is leaving?
I am adding items to a context menu strip from a list of items in a database when my form loads. This all works fine until I come across the issue of 'How do I react to the user clicking on one of these menu items?'

I'm using VB 2005 .NET and I wanted to make my applications look better.I found lots and lots of applications for win XP that look like Vista. For example like Windows Live Messenger.
i compile my form with the below code when i run it on vista work fine without any problem but when i try to run in on XP cant run... that happened with any XP machine.[code]when i run my exe to other Vista machines work fine... but on xp NO.
my application has "picked up" the old style button design. In Vista the buttons have a slight shadow / 3d effect, however, my application appears not be using the default style and instead applying the older XP, Win98 typ appearance. At first it didnt bother me, however, not its annoying and rather than rip all my code out and apply it to a new project, i would prefer to remove the offending code call.
Its a long shot, but i thought i would see if anyone here knew what might be causing it?
I would like to include a menu system like the control panel in win7 with the large 48 x 48 icon, a title and a link for the navigation like this: What is this style called? and are there any free versions I can include as a DLL to my project?

What I want to do is write a number of subs, so that each time a menu item is clicked a sub is called. I'm a little confused there dosn't seem to be a click event for individual menu item ( vistamenuitem ) . I know that there is a an event that is called for the overall menu, but this doesn't help because I want to execute a different subs depending on which menu item is clicked.

I need to write a program in VB 2008 express that takes an user entry from a textbox and strips out all the spaces, changes it to either all upper case or all lower case then checks to see if it is a palindrome. I must also include a loop structure and a decision structure. I have seen bits and pieces of code but I do not really know how to put them together. Basically I need it from the button click to the end. ?
es anyone know the Hex value of the Size Menu Item? If you don't know what I mean (I wouldn't ), please take a look at this.I want to use its method to remove the Size menu item instead of just the move and close items. Now, I know what your going to say, but, I have to have the Sizable Border Style.
How do I make a menu item on a menu strip link to another windows form (like a menu item that links to an about page already created in the project). I know that every coder knows how to do this, but i've read most of the instructions in the world for Visual Basic coding, but can't find ANYTHING I know coding fairly well, so I can modify it, but I can't create it my self.

I'm trying to make buttons that will open each of the "special folders" in Windows Vista. Here's an example:
Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click Process.Start("explorer.exe", Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.MyDocuments)) End Sub
As you can see in the above code, the button will open the Documents folder. My problem is the only folders this method can open are the documents, pictures and music folders, while I also want to open these folders below:
Downloads Videos User folder (aka the folder that has the user name on it) Computer (aka My Computer in XP)

I am trying making a form to apear in the corner when a timer goes off. I have a loading function that loads all the times into arrays and sends it to a thread that runs a loop till todays date = date time. I am learning VB at the moment and i'm planning how i'm going to make a simple quiz style web application. I want to have a series of questions, one per panel, that a user can select from multiple choice and proceed to next question with at least one option needing to be selected before going to the next question. At the end users get their score out of X.
Forgetting the validation and other bits i need. My thinking is to use a series of panels that have my questions in, so one panel per question, and by default they are all set no invisible bar the first question. Then as the user selects the question the next panel is revealed and the previous hidden, and so on etc.
