Making A Form Resize When A Picturebox Becomes Visible?

Feb 8, 2012

The basis of the program is that the user enters info into to text boxes then hits a button, when the button is clicked and all the parameters are met, the visible property of a rather large picture box becomes true. What I want to do is have the form start off small, just big enough to hold the labels, text boxes and buttons and then resize when the picture box is made visible.

Making Controls Resize With The MDI Child Form

Jan 23, 2011

Does anyone know how to make the controls on an MDI Child form resize along with the form itself? I inherited a project from another developer and I was asked specifically to make the form resize. With advice I received on this forum I now have the form resizing as expected. It will minimize, restore and maximize as well as resize with the mouse pointer.

The problem is that when I increase the size of the form all I get is more blank space on the screen. The controls to do change at all. Although I thin this is normal behavior for a Windows form my bosses all seem to think that the controls resize on every other widows for they see. I wondered if anyone had successfully accomplished this. I was already advised to write a FormResize handling subroutine and this unfortunately did not work.

Resize A Form On Load To Fit To The User's Screen

Apr 7, 2009

I'm trying to figure out how to resize a form on load to fit to the user's screen. Many of my users are on laptops, or split screens between laptop and monitor..I remember in VB6, it was something like form.height = screen.height (or something of the sort)... but I can't find this functionality in VB.NET 2008. I'm also trying to wrap everything (multiple screens/forms) into one app, so I wanted to know if anyone was aware of any tutorials on form parent/child relationships... I don't want to keep opening and hiding forms individually without having them packaged in one work area....

Resize A Form , Its Controls According To User's Screen Settings And Physical Monitor Size?

Nov 19, 2010

I am creating an application for a company and this CD will be distributed to hundreds of people. Many users will have different computer screen size and different screen settings such as their resolution set to 1024 x 728 and their monitor size 17" inches.

I noticed when I loaded the application on a different computer with different settings the application was to big for the screen and did not work. I notice that lot of other programs from microsoft resize their controls and text but never knew how they did it. How can I resize the form and control according to the user's setting.

VS 2008 Making A User Control?

Sep 1, 2009

I am trying to make a user control for information received from a database but i get:The class WFUserControl can be designed, but is not the first class in the file. Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.

Do i make the user control directly and add the code? Because thats what i did.. Or are there steps to do first before creating it?

VS 2008 Form Will Not Resize?

Jan 9, 2010

This just started happening recently...If I resize the form, the contents do not change.(All controls on the form are docked in such a way that resizing the form resizes the controls). If I make the form bigger than what it loaded at, the contents stay the same and the extra room is black. If I make it smaller than original, then it just cuts things off.Any idea what could be happening here? It is a standard System.Windows.Forms.Form. Nothing special handled on Resize, ResizeStart, ResizeEnd, or SizeChanged events.

WPF - Making Databound ListViewColumns Resize When Adding Item

Dec 4, 2011

I'm making an WPF-application that has a databound ListView. When loading the application, the width of the ListViewColumns will auto-resize, but when adding or changing an item it doesn't auto-resize. I've tried refreshing the listview, setting the width of the column to auto, -1 or -2 in both xaml and VB-code and I've tries changing the itemssource to nothing before refilling it with items.

This is the xaml code:
<ListView x:Name="lsvPersons" Margin="5,5,5,35" ItemsSource="{Binding Persons}">
<ListView.View><GridView>
<GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}" Header="Name"/>
<GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Gender}" Header="Gender"/>
<GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Age}" Header="Age"/>
[Code] .....

After pressing the button, a window will open to add a person. After the window is closed, the item is added to the listview with following code, which refreshes the items in the listview:
lsvPersons.ItemsSource = Person.getPersons()
So, what do I need to do to auto-resize the columns of the listview when an item is added or edited?

The size of the new window only sizes the newly opened on and will not resize the ones that are already open. I will give an example of my subroutine.Note: Because of the nature of my program, I am not allowed to take any code out of the work zone and so I will be summarizing what I am doing rather than showing the actual code.

VS 2008 Form And Controls Resize Using Anchor/Dock

Mar 7, 2010

From this forum I saw some discussions about form/controls resizing issue with different resolution screen setting. Most suggestions are using Anchor/Dock. My application's form has 10 group boxes and some buttons. In each group box there are 5 Text boxes and other more controls. I tried anchor and dock but couldn't make it work. My questions are -

1, How to re-size form and all individual controls as well?

2, If anchor/Dock are suggested, do i have to use both of them or just one? it seems to me there is no big difference between them.

It functions fine but there is a border appearing between the tiles and I can't figure out why. The source image is 32x32 in size.
