View 3 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how to resize a form on load to fit to the user's screen. Many of my users are on laptops, or split screens between laptop and monitor..I remember in VB6, it was something like form.height = screen.height (or something of the sort)... but I can't find this functionality in VB.NET 2008. I'm also trying to wrap everything (multiple screens/forms) into one app, so I wanted to know if anyone was aware of any tutorials on form parent/child relationships... I don't want to keep opening and hiding forms individually without having them packaged in one work area....

View 2 RepliesI have a Mdi form and I need to put a control on the form which the user can resize. Now I need a container can be dragged by user to increase it's size. The split container will not work in my case as I have childforms and stuff. I want a container whose size can be increased by dragging it on one side.

View 1 RepliesI want to disallow changes to two comboboxes unless the user first clicks a LOCK symbol on the screen. I pop a Y or N into the tag of the picture box when they click it...I've got this - combobox is called LanguageTo
Private Sub LanguageTo_Enter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LanguageTo.Enter
If Me.languageLock.Tag.ToString = "Y" Then
MessageBox.Show("Click LOCK symbol to allow changes to the Language Pair!", "Language is Locked!", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation)
[code]....
How do I "cancel" the attempt to change that combobox?I don't want to ENABLE=FALSE the combobox - as I don't want it's image to visually change. I want to allow them to attempt the change and then abort it if they didn't unlock first.
I am creating an application for a company and this CD will be distributed to hundreds of people. Many users will have different computer screen size and different screen settings such as their resolution set to 1024 x 728 and their monitor size 17" inches.
I noticed when I loaded the application on a different computer with different settings the application was to big for the screen and did not work. I notice that lot of other programs from microsoft resize their controls and text but never knew how they did it. How can I resize the form and control according to the user's setting.
I want at runtime the user can't move the form. How can I achieve this please?
View 5 RepliesI have created a custom control in visual studio 2005. It contains a picture box with and image in it with 2 text boxes on top. I want to be able to resize this image by selecting the edge and clicking and dragging it.
View 1 RepliesI had a project which will have a function to resize the images in the picturebox..i've seen some code snippet in resizing the images. The code works fine but it automatically resizes the image when i run the program..what i need is that the user will be the one who will resize the pictures..does anyone knows how to do this? i'm using vb 2008.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to resize various datagridview objects at run time, using the following subroutine
Sub GridHeight7(ByVal grd As DataGridView, ByVal highest As Integer)
Dim jr%, w&
With grd
[code]....
It appears that that only the top property is passed to the subroutine, that is, rowcount and the others appear to have a value of zero. Using ByRef makes no difference.
I found this code (Class) on Net for resizing controls at runtime by user on GUI as we do it design time.
HTML
Public Class ResizeableControl
Private WithEvents mControl As Control

I would like to resize a panel at runtime using a mouse.I only need Vertical resizing. So, I have panel1 and docked a label to the bottom of the panel, this will be the drag bar.Now I'm thinking I need to use the mousedown event and capture the Y coordinates of the mouse? On Mouse up set my panel height to those new coordinates? Also, I'm pretty sure my panel won't redraw itself when this is going on. Should I set the panel height while I'm dragging?
View 3 RepliesFocus and Resize the Control at Runtime I want to focus and re-size the controls like text box or label at run time using keyboard and as well as mouse. I have attached the image that has control and it is focused and it could be re-size. In that image, background it has grids. I need that kind of grids in my form. From this position of control, I need to convert it to .txt format and print it to the pre-formatted paper.
So i need 4 requirements,
1. Focus and Re-size the controls
2. Grids control (not a data grid view)
3. Data's convert it to .txt format
4. Data's Print to pre formatted paper.
I have a user control which contains some textboxes, buttons ,labels and comboboxes . I used that control in a form and inside a split contaier.Splitter can be moved by the user. User control is docked as fill.
Now when user move the splitter the user control size is changes as it is dock fill but the inner controls used in that user control looks like fixed in a single place .It are not moving nor resizing .How to do this .Is there any property to perform thisI already know about anchor property but sometimes it causes overlapping of controls so I can not use it.
I have a Form1 where i can add usercontrols during runtime. I draw their appereance in the OnPaint event using the GDI+ engine. The greate part is that i want to be able to resize these images during runtime wich goes pretty well now cause i draw points in percentage of the control. Unfortunetly it is very difficult to draw nice images/drawings ect with the GDI+ engine. Is there any other way in doing this?

I need to resize Rows and columns dynamically in TableLayoutpanel..I achive this but it's not perfectly come in some times.. View 2 RepliesI've got code to allow the user to import an image to the document they have opened, however right now, the image displays at it's default size, and well, if it's a large image, the document stretches and looks like crap. I want the user to be able to select the image after they insert it, and have the handles show up on the corners so they can resize it, and would also like to have it allow them to move it around the document if possible. View 1 RepliesI am converting my company's VB6 program over to VB.net and I have hit another stupid little roadblock.
The old program had a ListView docked to the left side of the application screen. The user could place the cursor over the right portion of the ListView, the cursor would turn into the SizeWE arrows, then they could drag it, which would resize the ListView.
I am trying to recreate this. As far as I can tell there is no Property called "Resizable," or at least nothing is popping out to me. I do not believe that it is being done in the code.
Is there a property I am missing? If not, is there an easy way to do this within the code? (ie. is there a event that would make my life easier)
I am using Visual Studio 2008.
Edit: I see how how it was done in the previous program (you always seem to find it once you ask the question, don't you?). The old program had a invisible picture that was only a few pixels wide that when hovered over would change the cursor to SizeWE. You could then drag that invisible picture and that would hit an event that would then change the size of the ListView. This seems rather convoluted. My question still stands: Is there a better way to handle this dragging and resizing?
I'm trying to allow users to resize columns of my datagridview, but it's not working. I have this line:
DataGridView1.AllowUserToResizeColumns = True
I want users to be able to resize columns the same way they would if in excel.
VB6 had a feature for it's datagrid where the user could use the mouse to drag the row divider in a datagrid and when the user released the mouse button, all the rows in the datagrid would resize to match the one the user resized (Excel does the same thing if you have all rows highlighted).
View 11 RepliesI want to write a vb program to allow user to draw rectangle. User can click on a point as starting position and drag on the screen. A rectangle is drawn with the current mouse position and the starting position. The user then release the mouse as end position. When the rectangle is drawn, user can resize the rectangle by drag the border of the rectangle.

View 3 RepliesWhat is the best way to resize & move a form using just VB commands? I have a form that I need to set the Height and Top props, problem is that takes two calls and there is a noticable flicker. I tried using SuspendLayout/ResumeLayout, DoubleBuffered, swaping the top and height calls around, etc, but nothing seems to help. The test forms only have one small listview and one or two buttons. View 2 RepliesI've got a RTB that I use to display some info for a user. Scroll bars on the right to move the data visually up and down.
I don't want to allow the user to alter text in the RTB - it's for display only.
How would I go about that without using ENABLE=FALSE?
How would i make so when the user resizes the form the controls on the form resizes to what ever(ex: form become full screen textbox is full screen.
