Apr 14, 2009I am extremely new to VB but i have most of the basics down fairly well. I can create buttons and move objects with arrow keys, for example. I am using VB Express Edition 2008. What I am trying to do is make a very basic game. So far it was going great until a little problem stumped me [see title to see where i am going with this]. Before i added buttons onto the form i was able to move my little circle man with the arrow keys up, down, left and right. When i added buttons it no longer allowed me to do such things. Now moving the arrow keys only allows me to select buttons without the mouse. It is really frustrating because i have been working very hard on this and a problem this small could ruin everything! ;)
I was wondering if there is a way to move objects with arrow keys and use buttons on the same form and if so, how do you do it?

Mar 3, 2012I have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

Feb 5, 2010What I would like to do is to have four different buttons (e.g., buttonA, buttonB, buttonC and button D). I wanna give the following instruction to the people: press these buttons in the following order: first buttonA, then buttonB, then buttonC and last buttonD. If they obey this instruction then a picture will be displayed, for instance a happy face. All the other combinations will not activate this picture to be displayed, or in other words, there won't be any consequence. I would also like to save this data using windows note pad e.g., writeline (1, xxxxxx). Is there any chance I will make it?

Move From 2005 To 2008?
Mar 1, 2010I do have a application created by VB.net 2005 and the version is 1.0.0.70.
I'd like to migrate the application to VB.Net 2008 in order to use the chart function which 2005 does not have.
This is what I am going to do.
1. Open Visual Studio 2008 for Visual Basic
2. Open a file for the application
3. It will try to backup current file and convert to 2008 from 2005.
4. The project version is still 1.0.0.70.
Can I deploy this project from 1.0.0.71 on same folder that I used with 2005 or Shoud I deployee as a new project as 1.0.0.1 on different location?

I jumbled the order, anything that's last will appear instead which I think it's because of the For Each. I tried a do while loop but I do not have any conditions i can think of to use for it. Aug 31, 2010I have a next and back button to switch in between my tabs. There are 7 tabs on the form. My problem is that if I am on Tab 1(the first tab) and I keep clicking the back button that it keeps subtracting the the number (next_CurrentIndex) and I got to press the next button that many times in order for it to go to the next tab. Example: Lets say I'm on tab 1(first tab) and i click the back button 5 times. I then have to click the next button 6 times in order for it to proceed to the next tab which would be tab 2. This happens if im on tab 7 and continue to hit next also. [code]

Sep 4, 2011I want to use an image to some buttons . I know I can set the Image property and select an image file . My problem , however , has to do with the fact that the image in the file is always shown inside a gray contour . I mean the image itself (i.e. an exclamation mark) is shown correctly , but though around it there is nothing (not even a gray surface - just nothing) the image is displayed with gray color filing everything else . Back in VB6 I had no such problem ... I could simply select my image and it was shown correctly .
