VS 2008 Remove The Space In A Menu Item?

Oct 30, 2011

When creating a menu, there is a large gap to the left of the entry. This is where the icons usually go. Is there a way to remove the space if you want a menu without icons?

Remove A Context Menu Item?

May 21, 2009

how to delete a item from the context menu.. i can add a item with this code:

Private Sub Button7_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button7.Click
ContextMenuStrip4.Items.Add("delete file")
End Sub

no problem there. and to delete this item, i figured since it is the 4th item in the contextmenu (and i can't type the "delete file" either w/o error) it would delete it by index, with this code:

Private Sub Button8_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button8.Click
ContextMenuStrip4.Items.Remove(3)
End Sub

the (3) is giving me a error "value of type 'interger' cannot be converted to 'system.windows.forms.toolstripmenu'".. i think that means that the context menu does not support indexing.

MenuStrip.Items.Remove - Add Item To Dropdown Menu Upon Creation

Feb 8, 2011

I have my program set up to read the contents of a Directory, and then populate a drop down menu with the names of the files in the directory. (I am using the MenuStrip). Inside my program, it is also set up to create a new file in that directory, and I wish to add this item to the dropdown menu upon creation. The list is entirely created and populated from the code, and the contents of the list depend entirely on what's in the directory.

I have tried using MenuStrip.Items.Remove(menuItem1). Now, when this command gets executed, it does remove the top level Menu, however when I go to repopulate the menu, I end up with duplicates of my files listed in the drop down. I am stuck with how to clear these out as well?

VS 2008 Working In VB 2008 Designer View - Add Another Item In The Menu

Aug 5, 2009

I have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.

[2008] Treeview Right-click Menu Must Select Item Moused Over

Remove Empty Space From A Large String?

Oct 5, 2009

I try to remove empty space from a large string, using replace(), and using regex.

the replace method:

replace
Do While (stripped.IndexOf(Space(2)) >= 0)
stripped = stripped.Replace(Space(2), " ")
Loop

and with regex using its replace with : "/ss+/" - regular expression.

but I am still stuck with empty strings such as :

temp ""String

these string have lengths ranging between 3 and 8, so I have tried to adapt the replace function with something like this:

replace 2

Do While (stripped.IndexOf(Space(4)) >= 0)
stripped = stripped.Replace(Space(4), Space(1))
Loop
