VS 2008 MDI Parent, Menu Item Form Shifts Position?
Jun 2, 2010
I've made a project with a menu. This menu is placed in a form which i use as a MDI Parent, and all the other forms are opend in this parent form.Everything works ok.
When I open a menu item (eg form A), the form display's correctly. But when I minimize the procject to the taskbar, and maximize it again, Form A shifted position a bit lower.
How do I make a menu item on a menu strip link to another windows form (like a menu item that links to an about page already created in the project). I know that every coder knows how to do this, but i've read most of the instructions in the world for Visual Basic coding, but can't find ANYTHING I know coding fairly well, so I can modify it, but I can't create it my self.
well i successfully docked a perpixel alpha form with the main form(form1). but the perpixel alpha form always appears at the top left corner of the screen and when i move the main form the form(perpixel alpha form) inside it dosen't move it stays at the top left corner. ALWAYS. to dock the perpixel alpha form i used
How can I position a MsgBox to be in the center of the parent form? I am currently using this code to position other forms in the center of the parent form (no matter what the parent forms current position on the screen):
In Form2.vb
Public Class Copying Public Sub Copying_Load(ByVal Parent As Form) Dim LeftPos As Integer
how to fix the child form position from parent mdi form in vb environemnt ?? i seek from several forums and articles on internet still can't find .. Currently i have 5 child form in a parent when i click on it frm the 1st frm till the 5th frm the child form position will coming down...
I'm writing an MDI app in vb.net vs2010. The MDI form has the default MDIMenustrip menu with several menu items. Each has some subitems. None of the child forms have a menustrip defined. I thought it would be easy to call a public subroutine in the MDI that would disable or enable the MDIMenustrip items. If I execute the routine from the MDI form, the menu items disable/enable just fine. THe problem I have is when I call the routine from a child form. How can I control the MDI menu from a child form?
I have created a parent form and 2 child forms. Each of the forms have menustrips. When i run the application the menu strip appears on the parent form but not on the child forms. I have the menu strip set to visable.
I have a Windows form application with a MenuStrip at the top (File, etc...) and a TabControl directly beneath it with 8 TabPages arranged horizontally. The tabpages vary in height. The form's autoscroll property is set to True to allow the user to scroll down for those tabpages that contain more content. This all works fine.
What happens at runtime, though, is that when the user clicks on some of the tabpages that are greater in height, the scroll bar automatically scrolls down slightly, which obscures the menustrip at the top of the form. This behavior is undesirable. on how to modify it? I have compared the properties of the form itself, the tabpages, and included controls (table layout panels, etc.) but cannot figure out what distinguishes the tabpages that "jump" down when clicked upon from those that do not. I suspect that there may be a property that eludes me.
Second, I have added a ContextMenuStrip to the form to enable actions upon right-clicking within each tabpage. Even though I have assigned it to the Windows form and each tabpage, it does not appear at runtime. One can right-click all over the place within the application, but it never appears.
I have a visual basic 2010 project that has a menu item hidden (visibility). there is a second form (child window) that you can popup and hit a button to show the menu item. I am having trouble finding the right commands to do this. I am use to C and the API where you can get the handle to the parent windows menu, and do it that way. But I have been unsuccessful in VB.
Public Class Form1 Public Const WM_SYSCOMMAND As Int32 = &H112 Public Const MF_BYPOSITION As Int32 = &H400
[Code]....
and i get an error:
PInvokeStackImbalance was detected Message: A call to PInvoke function 'WindowsApplication1!WindowsApplication1.Form1::GetSystemMenu' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. So what I want to do is for each text file that is in a folder, my application makes a menu item to load them. Can someone give me some example code on how I would do that please?
I have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.
When creating a menu, there is a large gap to the left of the entry. This is where the icons usually go. Is there a way to remove the space if you want a menu without icons?
how can i add an item to the windows explorer context menu, that will only be enabled when the user right clicks a .zip file? also, how do i handle that items click event?
i want to show context menu on drop down menu item right click...As an example,Suppose we add bookmark in mozilla & when we right click on that item..context menu is showing
Code: Private Sub MenuAddToFavorites_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles MenuAddToFavorites.MouseDown If e.Button = Windows.Forms.MouseButtons.Right Then
(VB.NET 2008 )How can I make taskbar's group menu item to be disabled? For some reson ,I have to make taskbar's group menu item to be disabled.(ex. close group item)
I've got a right-click menu that comes up in a treeview - with an option to ADD to that parent node or delete a child node.
Currently I'm using the SELECTEDNODE - but what I really want to do is change the "selected node" when the right-click occurs. But I'm having a hard time seeing how to do that...
How do you use this event properly??
Private Sub CapabilitiesTreeView_MouseClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles CapabilitiesTreeView.MouseClick Me.CapabilitiesTreeView.SelectedNode = End Sub
For some reason, the Add New Item command on the Project Menu is hanging VB on my Vista based machine.but now, it hangs. By that I mean the the little circle cursor spins and spins and spins... This happens even when all I do is start VB, start and new project. and then try to add something, eg. another form, a class, anything except "existing item".
Regarding my college project. i'm working on a sales system . i have a form which consist of all the following information( item code , item name , item price , quantity of item ) which is display using a data grid . data input by user using text box and all this information will be stored in a database(sales database) i'm using ms access 2007. the grand total will be displayed in a text box . and amount paid will be input in a text box too , my major problem now is how to i create a reciept that will have all this information of the purcase. i have a reciept button . what the next step ? i dont have any idea how to get the reciept done.
I need to know the proper way, or maybe I should say, the different ways to call another form from a parent or preceding form. I am currently using ex: formname.showdialog() to call my next form, but I am uncertain if I should be using that in every situation. [code] Whats the difference between these different methods? (ex: .showdialog() , .show() )I tried both of these to open a temporary form to retrieve a persons name from a database, so as the users progresses through my training program they can keep track of their scores. But, I also call other forms as I branch through my program, from the main page, to a secondary page, to a testing page, to a results page and then back to the secondary page
i have 9 different picture boxes and one context menu assigned to all the 9, this is so because the functionality of the context menu remains the same except to display which picture box was selected
im making a 'program' and its a Head form. with 3 Subforms in it. Well. i added a Menustrip. As soon as the forum starts i have a Load timer. (see Image 1)
1.Thats how it needs to be. Also when the Subforms are loaded. But, Now the problem. When the forms are loaded. The Menustrip ends up wrong placed and Resized?
2.How to work this away? The menu strip needs to stay On top of all the others. and the Menustrip goes back to normal as soon as i click one of the Title bars of the Subforms?
I want to use the same menu shortcut keys in a MDI child as in the parent...the problem is that the parent seems to receive the Event first and is calling his menu entry. The child (though it does have the focus) does never receive any event whatsoever...I can bypass this behaviour by adding a Textbox to the Menu, and the moment that one has the focus the menu shortcuts are working as expected (child gets it first, after that it's passed through to the parent).
Ok So I am trying to save text from a textbox to a rtf file. The Saves Text would come from the active mdi Child. However I can not figure out how to Save using active child just calling the actual form name. Below is my code so far.
Private Sub SaveAsToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveAsToolStripMenuItem.Click Try
Any way I can set parent of the MainMenu control? I don't want to use other controls because there is no windows 7 or vista style as in picture. Other controls have just ugly blue and white color. When I add MainMenu it sets position on top of the form. I want to set MainMenu Parent to one Panel. Other controls have just ugly blue and white color.
I am trying to set a form position before it shows but i cant get it working.Form Name: ColorCentraling.vb
I've tried: Private Sub ClickNPC_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ClickNPC.Tick

are 2 integers which represent a number which does not need to be explained. There i've made a DIM as the form but new! I've tried settings its location but its not possible for me.I know this is possible because: I've visited many VB.NET 2008 Programs that do this
I have a "Please Wait..." form that I show when doing some long task. This works quite well. But I cannot seem to control the opening position of the form. Currently I am using:
and this is just being ignored. The window opens at random locations. If I change it to CenterScreen, that works! But I don't want it center screen, I want it centered on the parent. Can I manually set the location? I am using VB 2008 Express and the wait form is a plain windows form.
