I have a project with about 30 forms and each form has about 30 labels from DotNeBar (its a controls suite). If in the future I decide to change that suit for other, how can I replace the DotNetBar labels with the ones of the new suite? In other words, how can I replace a bunch of controls for others automatically?
I find that 98% of the time, any work I do with a Control on a From, I do within the form's class. Visual Studio automatically declares all of those controls as Friend, but there really isn't a need.Is there a way to have Visual Studio automatically declare all controls as Private and I can expose any controls as Friend as needed?
Is there any way in c# or VB to automatically move the controls in a panel when the window is resized. I do not want the Anchor property, which only resizes the control. THe use is that controls are added at runtime to the form, and when the locations/values are loaded on a computer with a larger monitor, they are in the incorrect positions.
I have a form containes some controls (buttons) how i can make the program auto-scan these controls one by one automatically and whenever the mouse on a button the button select for a time and I can press the enter key to click this button otherwise the mouse will go to the next button and so on.
In the early generations of VB.NET visual studio, I used to see an automatically generated region named "Windows Form Designer generated code" that includes the code that generates the controls at the surface of a form. But what happened with VS 2008, I can't see that region any more ? Where are the lines of code that are automatically generated that create controls and set there properties ????? 1. I want to know:Why the VB2010 always tell me make some mistakes when I use the control:AxMSFlexgrid1 the control:AxMSFlexgrid1 ? Should I define it as a kind of Controls? 2.I want to know :Is there any controls can replace the control:AxMSFlexgrid1 used as Text Array ?2. Also,I want to know :Is there any controls can replace the control "AxMSFlexgrid1" used as text array?
I am rather irritated at this. I have no clue why looping through controls on a form and in groupboxes leaves out 75% of the controls.
Here's the code I have:
Dim settings As String = "" Dim gbControl As Control Dim gbbox As Control
....
I want to have setting save all settings to an ini file, and not have to reprogram the saving routine when I add a group box or control. At random times, any number of controls can be disabled, checkboxes can be checked and unchecked, radiobuttons can be checked and unchecked. Regardless of the state of the control, I want the control to show up in the loop. But they don't. Only controls that are enabled and only checkboxes that are checked, every other control state is ignored. That's crap, and is definitely not what is needed by any programmer of any type. We're capable of determining if a control is enabled, hidden, checked, visible, and otherwise.
How do I get the controls to be included in the loop regardless of their state?
The file reads in parameters and two of the parameters used to be in Date Format YYYYMMDD but will now permanently be in format YYYY-MM-DD. This change, I believe, is stopping the import of the file from working. I would like to replace the new format YYYY-MM-DD back to YYYYMMDD in the code. If possible I'd also like to see some output so I know that the old format has been replaced with the new format. The code is below. I added the two rows with .replace code in green in expecting that to be enough but it is still not working.
Public Sub Main() Dim R1, O1, P1, C1, strDateFrom, strDateTo, strRunDate As String
I am trying to cycle throught the lables on my form but it would appear that I am missing quite a few labels... I have a total of 69 lables on my form and I only get 5 hits on the msgbox.
Dim ctl As Control For Each ctl In Me.Controls If TypeOf ctl Is Label Then
I'm working on a timekeeping application in Visual Basic 2008 and am having trouble formatting a timespan for display. Here's how I want to the information:If a positive number my Label will be: lblTimespan.txt will show as "12 Hours And 15 Minutes" This works fine.If its a negative number I want to display it as "(12 Hours And 15 Minutes)'[ in red. The problem is that I can't get rid of the minus sign.
Thr Replace doesn't seem to want to replace the "-", can anyone suggest what to do?
I have a bunch of object variables which are all initialised in their declarations such that:
Private _myObject As New ThisObject("SomeString")
where ThisObject is one of a number of object types, but all are initialised using a string.
I would like to use the Visual Studio Find/Replace dialog box to search for "As New" then replace everything from "As New" to the first set of speech marks with some text such that:
EDIT
My original example could be solved using other methods. This example is more representative of the actual problem:
Private _myObjectA As New ThisObjectA("SomeString") Private _myObjectLongName As New ThisObjectLongName("SomeString")
I am trying to filter out all unwanted characters from a string. All I want in the string is letters A-Z, numbers 0-9 as well as comma (,) plus (+) and quotes (").I figured how to do the letters and numbers, but the 3 special characters are giving me a problem. I also tried with the Chr(34) equivelant for the " sign, but no luck, as and " or , messes up the way the code is read. Heres what I have so far, but it only works for A-Z and 0-9:
This code is working fine, but now I want to replace two times and I want to use the replace function twice. Something like this, but it is not working . Can anyone tell me how to use Replace function multiple times?
I'm making a program that uses a rich textbox and when you format the color of the richtextbox I want it to replace all instances of a color except black to have text on both sides of it.Example:If the text color is blue the text would look like this:
Blue Text
Where it says blue text that's where the text is blue. and if the text was red then instead of it saying color=blue, it would say color=red.
I have a replace function in text files where it replaces all the vbTab with ';' betweens the columns. Sometimes it may be that some fields have more vbTabs and then there is lot of empty fields. How do I via a smart and simple way to replace all vbTab with ';'. That is, the field has more than one vbTab will they just be replaced by a

How do I code a program that when I enter an input like 5, will will automatically generate 5 buttons on a separate form and transfer the values of another input to the buttons?
I have started to use VB .net (Visual Studio 2008). I made a small program which starts with form1. This form1 automatically loads form2 and the form1 should close. But when it closes form2 closes as well.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub LC_Load (ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.Show() Form2.Show() Me.Close() End Sub End Class
I have developed a vb.net application which gets a folder as input with n number of .txt.When there are say 5 .txt files the application executes and produces the excel output. When there a n numpber of .txt files say 30, the application takes a long time and exits without producing the output.
I have a class called 'Box' which inherits 'TextBox' and has one string property.I've added multiples of the class to the Form, and I want to then display each of the strings in each 'Box' in textbox1.Obviously, each new class is called, Box1, Box2, Box3 etc, so I know I can access the string with something like: textbox1.text = Box1.text + Box2.text + Box3.text But, if I start adding more 'Box'es to the form, how can i automatically 'address' the nex 'Box'es?
I want thee program I'm writing to automatically download word.txt file from my site, place it in the directory the program is running from, and if there is a word.txt already in it's directory I want it to automatically replace it. How would I go about doing that?
I have made updates to my programs, including a large update with the fonts on my forms. The only problem is this font is not found on vista or Windows XP and must be downloaded. The program is completely ruined with its looks without it. Is their a way so that both Windows XP and Vista could download these fonts, On startup of the first form, Form Load maybe? Even if the user says that he or she would like to see the program with the fonts? I just don't want to take the many hours i wasted resizing with the new fonts, ect. If it would be easier I could ask the user if they are using Windows XP, Or Vista?
