In class the teacher mentioned that textboxes return string. If I am asking you to tell me how many hours did you work, and if you say 2.5 I would like to have the integer 3 stored, because I have to pay you for any fraction of an hour as a whole hour.
I remember seeing someplace that it would be changed into a double and then take the ceiling of that double and then change it into an integer.
Something like intHouresWorked = cint(celing(cdouble(textbox.text)))
I'm reading a text file that has a single line with the number 70. I want to convert this to a number (decimal or Integer). The following returns 7 - what am I doing wrong? [code...]
I get some funny display errors when I attempt to pop a fraction into a text label.[code]Do I get 33.3% here? No, but I get 33.333333333333 - etc - depending on how big my label field is Plus I also get an error message trying to add the % sign at the end.how to round off and display fractions and percentages in a Label.Text field?
I understand the concept of rounding I guess, all I know is math.round(), but I need a break down of it so I can round a number like this: 14.789543 to this: 14.8 because after the 7 there is an 8, which means you would round the seven up. Can anyone tell me how this is done? And some more detail, I need to round to the nearest tenth.
Is there any prebuilt items to roundup a number to set fraction size or do I need to build a routine to do this? If I have to build this any thoughts on the way to go about it? I was thinking I need to strip the decimal places and then compare them to a dataset of numbers a make a choice?
With the following problem which I want to round up the "TotalVolume" and "AvgHL" with 2 decimal places. However, my ListView2 is still showing as the following example.
Example: ID --------- Average H/L ----------- Average Volume 12 --------- 1.230000 ----------- 4251.230000 17 --------- 0.560000 --------- 12345.560000 23 --------- 0.320000 --------- 2345.010000 54 --------- 1.230000 --------- 122.550000
Dim conn As SqlConnection conn = New SqlConnection(Source)
The problem is that the numbers seem to round after the decimal point, so if I entered a login-time of 8.15 and log-out 9.30, instead of showing 1.15 as the difference, it shows '1'. is there a way around this?
Is there any difference between these two ways of declaring a Integer and setting the value to zero? vb.net Dim x As Integer = 0' or...Dim x As New Integerx = 0 Is one way better than the other in any situation?
I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.
Searching this forum and google turn up things which seem too complicated(more then 4 lines of code), but maybe it needs to be that way.I have two text boxes. A 1 byte hexidecimal value would be entered in to each of them (0-FF). How can I add those two values together to come up with an integer?I have tried this several ways. At one point I got it to work but only for numeric characters.
I am new to Visual Basic 2010, but I have been trying to make a line reader with an imported text document into a RichTextBox through an internet source.
I want the RichTextBox's line zero (the first line) to really be line one, but without changing the text in the TextBox to show the change. In other words, I want that change to happen in the background of the program.
I have tried... taking the text from one TextBox and putting it into another, while subtracting an integer value of onean attempt to use a timer to copy the text from one TextBox to another to read the line properly.
I have tried a couple of other things too, but most of them were much more complicated and I could not really explain what each thing did.[code]...
I am new to vb and need some help with this change program. The idea is that we are given a certain amoun of change and then telling how many dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles and pennies. I thought I would convert the decimal to an integer and then use a while loop for every text box, i.e. dollars, quarters, dimes, etc.., to show how many of each, but the while loop is confusing for me in vb, but to tell you the truth I don't know if I am on the right track,
I am trying to understand the do until loop when adding numbers along with a variable to a new line in a textbox, incrementing each time. My current example is very simple but only returns the first value. I require the output to be incremented automatically, so I thought a do until loop would be best.
ive got some simple problem i cant understand how to solve.
str(1) is an array and integer(or double, tried both) a(1) is an array and integer (or double, tried both) a(1) = a(1) + 1 Label1.Text = str(1) + a
the big part is where i get: operator '+' is not defined for types 'integer' and '1-dimensional array of integer'.why do i get that message and what does it mean? how do i make the code do what i want?
I'm trying to create a linked list of an array of integers. Why is the following implicit conversion required?
When I run the code that contains that conversion, I get the following error.
As a real-time data acquisition user control data (a packet of an array of bytes) arrives every second, is converted into an integer array and inserted into a linked list.
The most recently arrived data is painted as coordinates on a grid at the right of a PictureBox using Graphics.DrawLine (pen,X1,Y1,X2,Y2).
The oldest data (arriving 120 seconds ago) will be drawn at the leftmost portion of the Picturebox.
Why a linked list rather than a list? To display 120 views of time sequence data, the draw routine the most recently inserted node to a node that points to Nothing. How do I limit the length of the linked list to 120 nodes and always ensure that the last node points to Nothing?
Do While Not item Is Nothing item = item.NextItem Loop
I am a newbie in VB and I got a piece of code which can display the current running program. I need to use that in VB2005 and I got the below error message. Can anyone help how to fix it?[code]
I'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer
I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String)) Passed = 0 FailedProducts = Nothing
this is for a BINGO game final project that I already turned in but this just bugged me that I could not get the sorting figured out. I am trying to get this to sort the random numbers in to columns under the correct letters but I keep getting the error Operator '>=' is not defined for types '1-dimensional array of Integer' and 'Integer' under the line:
I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID) Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists Where g.EventID = _id Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?
Why doesn't CDate(integer) work where integer has format of YYYYMMDD ?and why won't this stupid site let me submit such a short question when I have nothing else to add except some waffle at the end
i need to take two integers from two text boxes and put them into two separate integer arrays then add them right to left carrying if over 10. here is what i have so far but just looking for the addition i think i can figure out the rest if i get the addition working...
