Do Until Loop - Adding Text (as Integer) To A Textbox
Mar 7, 2011
I am trying to understand the do until loop when adding numbers along with a variable to a new line in a textbox, incrementing each time. My current example is very simple but only returns the first value. I require the output to be incremented automatically, so I thought a do until loop would be best.
I am new to vb and need some help with this change program. The idea is that we are given a certain amoun of change and then telling how many dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles and pennies. I thought I would convert the decimal to an integer and then use a while loop for every text box, i.e. dollars, quarters, dimes, etc.., to show how many of each, but the while loop is confusing for me in vb, but to tell you the truth I don't know if I am on the right track,
I have a text file (*.txt) with a name in each line, like this:
Joe Dane Lisa Kelly
Now I want each name added with a number from 1 to 99.
Like this:
Joe0 Joe1 Joe2
[code]....
I have folowing code:
For n As Integer = 0 To (numbernames) - 1 strContents = objReader.ReadLine() For i As Integer = 0 To 100 - 1
[code]....
With this code all happens ok and a new text file is created with the desired name-list with added numbers.The only problem is that the last name doesn't get a number added from 0 till 99 but for example 0 till 17.
I am new to Visual Basic 2010, but I have been trying to make a line reader with an imported text document into a RichTextBox through an internet source.
I want the RichTextBox's line zero (the first line) to really be line one, but without changing the text in the TextBox to show the change. In other words, I want that change to happen in the background of the program.
I have tried... taking the text from one TextBox and putting it into another, while subtracting an integer value of onean attempt to use a timer to copy the text from one TextBox to another to read the line properly.
I have tried a couple of other things too, but most of them were much more complicated and I could not really explain what each thing did.[code]...
Windows Forms, VB application... Forgive me in advance for this very elementary question but I am overlooking something really simple here. I would like to have a label show the current value of a variable as the for each loop runs.. I created a very simple Button Click event to figure out where its failing. As it is right now the value does not display until after the for each loop finishes running, which it should actually display the counter value each time it runs through... I know this is possible and really simple because I did it years back but for the life of me cant figure out why I am missing the bar as it should constantly update the label to reflect that?Test Sub is as follows:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim counter As Integer = 0 For x As Integer = 1 To 200000
I have a richtextbox and I am adding text to the rich text box programmically using RichTextBox1.AppendText(Environment.NewLine & "The red fox jumps over the" I have a variable called "myvariable" How can I program my button to type the text above and then insert variable's value in one line? Example: Let's that myvariable = "moon" How can I code my button to say "The red fox jumps over the moon"
Private Sub Add_Click Dim tbox As New TextBox tbox.Location = New Point(12, 244)
[Code]...
I added a textbox dynamically during runtime. How will I add the text in the textbox to my database? The name property of the textbox cant be change. What is the name property of the texbox created during runtime?
I have a function which iterates through the TextBoxes in my form (and its child controls) and adds each TextBox's name and text to an ArrayList using a structure I called valTxtBox.
Here's a snippet of the VB.NET Public Structure valTxtBox Public nome As String Public texto As String End Structure [Code] .....
Now, the problem is that if I call Clear() for valsTxtBox in the getctrls() function, not all the elements get added to the ArrayList. However, if I don't call Clear() it works just fine. BTW, I'm using VS2008 express which might be relevant.
In one page 10 no. of hyperlink present. If I click one of them then the text which is written in links that will be displayed into textbox dynamically. For example, <a href="hello.html">hello</a> If I click hello. Then hello will be displayed in textbox.
I have written a function that gets the alexa ranking of a given url, now this function works perfectly but I want to loop through a ListView of urls and grab the alexa rank of each item (url) with my function.The code works great if I put a MessageBox in the loop to test that the function is returning a value but when I remove the MessageBox the loop does not work.I need it to loop through adding each result without a MessageBox stop in each loop.
vb For Each Item In ListView1.Items Dim result As Integer result = GetAlexaRank(Item.Text)
See asteriks ***below for the problems: There is text in CStr(rdrPlayers("PlayerName")) and the textbox for loop is 15 so why the extra textbox's 6 thru 15 (1 to 15 then 6 - 15 under them 6 is visable others are out of panel display I shortened my code below
Can a VB.NET For loop be constructed that mimics this C# code?
TimeSpan oneDay = TimeSpan.FromDays(1.0); for (DateTime d = startDate; d < endDate; d += oneDay) { // some code }
Obviously you could do it without a For loop (i.e., with a While); I'm just curious if there's a certain syntax to construct a VB.NET For loop with a non-integer increment that I'm not aware of.
I'm looking for a way to calculate an average from a input integer within a loop. When the user enters something like -90, the average will be calculated using the previously input numbers.
The problem is trying to update and add a number to a summary label each time a math problem is answered correctly or incorrectly. As it is now, it will only add + 1 to correctNum and incorrectNum regardless of how many times I press the button.
This is the entire code, but I bolded the button I mentioned.
Public Class MainForm Dim answer As Integer Public Sub MainForm_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
For a project my teacher requires me to write a program that will do simple math on two integer arrays. User inputs up to 30 digits in two text boxes and I have to put that into two separate integer arrays.
'Big Integer Project Option Explicit On Option Strict On
i have data in an array list called txtarray which contains numbers, how can i loop through the array list and convert the values from into a integer variable?
I am saving scores form my game in to a dadt base but the game involves answering questions mid game that pop up in a seperate for so I have two scores a question score and a game score and at game over i want the two scores to add up and be displayed in one labe wich appers on the game form when my count down hits 0 so I tryed to add them
heres is the game code
Public Class frmplay Dim score As Integer Dim total_score As Integer
[Code].....
so I want to add correct answer to score and display it in a label thatwill show on my game form
Operator '+' is not defined for types '1-dimensional array of Byte' and 'Byte'.How would I change the assignment statement in the code below so that each indexed byte position gets assigned the converted integer value in the for loop?
Dim byteArray As Byte() Property Data_Out() As Integer() Get[code].....
I've made a program where a picture of a bee buzzes around the form in random movements (using random number generator code) and have put it in a while loop so that whilst the bee is visible on the form (hasn't flown off the sides) it moves randomly:
While (picBee.Top > 0 And picBee.Top < 725) And (picBee.Left > 0 And Timer1.Enabled = True) Application.DoEvents() For i = 1 To 3000000 Next picBee.Top = picBee.Top - 2 + 4 * Rnd() picBee.Left = picBee.Left - 2 + 4 * Rnd() End While
So far the bee does stop moving when it meets one of the four edges of the form but I need to code it so when the be reaches the edges and stops a message box appears declaring the game over.
I have a parent panel with child panels that contain images. I am looping through the panels to save the images in the order the panels appear in the parent panel. [code] I can also re-arrange the panels via mouse. The problem is that when they are rearranged, they do not retain their order when saved.. They simply are saved in the order they were added to the parent panel.So my question is, does the for loop use the index set when adding the panel? If so, how can I manipulate the index in runtime while arranging the panels via mouse.
I have this fully working with a massive wall of code and validations, but I want to dynamically add new datatables to shorten my code massively.I am pulling out rows from a database for quotations which are separated into batches. So each batch bring out its quotations and a photo. As I said, I have this working find, but I am not happy with the code.
For Each arow As DataRow In dt.Rows Dim counter As Integer = 0 While counter < batchmax
What I'm trying to do is write a program to store my sports cards collection. Basically, just a forms based program that stores various data into files. Where I am stuck at the moment is I have a piece of code that opens a form to add card brands. It has a text box, and ADD button and a CANCEL button. What I want to do is be able to type a brand into the textbox and have it store it in a array when the ADD button is clicked, then allow another entry for another brand and have it stored into the array when the ADD button is clicked and so on until the CANCEL button is clicked. Then I would like for the data in the array to be written to a file. Where I'm having the problem is I can enter a brand name into the text box but the loop keeps adding that same brand name into the array.
Imports System.IO Public Class AddCardBrand Private CallingForm As Object Private Sub btnAddBrandCancel_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddBrandCancel.Click Dim form As New StartScreen() [Code] .....
