1) Is it possible to allow a vb 2008 program to run at computer startup. Meaning, one the computer is turned on, it will load up with all the other startup programs so that it is ready to use.
2) I also would like to know if it is possible to have the program minimize down to the tray where all start up programs usually appear. So that instead of it cluttering up the task bar it will be in the tray and when they clcik or double click it, it will open back up.

Is the StartUp form of a program saved in a variable (i.e. from the name space My) ? I guess I can catch it during startup by using an Object Type variable during Load time , but I wonder if it is already defined anywhere else .

I am trying to get my program to run at windows startup. Not just load the VB project but to run it.
So that the user just turns on the computer and the project is up and running.
I have seen and tried lots of code suggestions (all different) none seem to work!

I am using VS2010 VB.NET, working on a solution that has a number of projects. I have been developing on it for a while now, and in an attempt to debug a custom class inherited from ObservableCollection (which by the way would not load symbols when debugging even though it was apparent that the breakpointed line was being called), I changed the startup object for the startup project to a different WPF window which I had a couple of controls that I set aside for debugging.Immediately I was confronted with 'Sub Main' was not found in . I tried changing the startup object back to the normal startup window, but now the Startup Object dropdown only has "Sub Main" as it's only option. I changed the StartupURI back in the App.xaml, to no avail.

I have been searching online for an answer for this question, but cannot find anything useful in my case. I added deployment to my project, but I want that deployment to copy JavaScript files to a certain dynamic location. The only way I can think of is having the deployment call my function that I can write in VB.net.

I am using vb.net 2008 i have been using a mdi form which is the startup form for my prog. and i have a main menu on that form. now i would like to shift to tree view as my client has asked for it. whenever a node is selected i can select the form corresponding for that particular code. everything is fine till here. but when the form is loaded the tree view is coming on top of the form the tree view is docked in a pannel. now i have tried everything treemenu.sendtoback and the say the form to b called is taxtypemaster then taxtypemaster.bringtofront but still the tree view is coming over the form
I have tried the following :
Dim mMenuSelected As String = e.Node.Name
Select Case e.Node.Name
[CODE]...
Even the visible doesnt work as it seems after the .show it makes the tree view visible again. how do i hide the treeview pls. someone guide me at the earliest. i feel it is not the prob. of treeview but something to do with the mdi form am i right ?

I am developing an windows application in VB 2008, My requirment is such that I have to change the applications Splash and Startup object on the basis of "Custom Constants" (Compilation Constants). As far as I have .Net idea it should be done in Application.Startup Event (guide me if i am wrong)Now, in Application.Startup_Event when I write the code
Private Sub MyApplication_Startup(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.StartupEventArgs) Handles Me.Startup
My.Application.SplashScreen = SplashScreen2
[code]....
The application dont work as desired, instead it starts with Form2 (which is OK), while in case of Splash it doesnt changes the splash form.

I'm currently developing an application for a POS Terminal using VB.net. Our project is approaching the last stage of development and I've been tasked to create 2 installers. 1 for Initial Installation, and the other for upgrade installation.
The project is composed of several elements. These are:
1. The application executable
2. Common DLLs that we developed
3. some resources (.resx and XML)
The requirement for the upgrade installer is that only those files with modification should be installed. (i.e. if only the xml or resx files are modified those are the only items that will be reinstalled, since the size of the upgrade installer is a consideration so we cannot reinstall everything).
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 for my deployment project but I'm a bit confused about how to set the properties of each file in such a way that during the upgrade, only the files that were modified would be updated and the rest of the files will not be removed since I'm setting RemovePreviousVersion property to True. I have a hunch that I need to do something with the custom action but I haven't been able to figure it out. The upgrade installer setup is almost the same as the initial installer except that all files are excluded.I tried to acquire a copy of Phil Wilson's book (The definitive guide to Windows Installer) but its not available in our local bookstore and it would take too long to order it.
Basically while tinkering with the settings/properties there are instances where the dll was not updated and there are also times when the application exe was removed.
I already verified that the Product code is the same for both installers and that I'm sure that the version number is being incremented for each upgrade.
If I will be redoing both installers from scratch, how should I go about it?
I'm also confused about the Condition property and the transitive property.

Triying to use the built in Visual Studio 2010 to install a couple of files and after that is done to run another installer package (3rd Party Installation Wizard).

i am trying to make a app that loads a keyboardhook from a module on startup, but the problem i am having is unless i load the keyhook from the form, the app just closes immediately.
what im trying to accomplish in the end is the module will will check a 'user settings' file, depending on the settings it will show a form or load the keyhook. but this is where my problem is, if i set the keyboardhook to load from the sub main in the module the app will just close immediately unless (as far as i can tell) i am always typing something
if i set it to load from the form it stays open, ive tried creating a second module and loading the keyhook from their but it still closes i uploaded a copy of the keyhook module if anyone want to test it / check out the code... all it does right now is pop up a msgbox on every keystoke, for testing purposes,

I want to create a windows installer package using visual studio. It is my understanding that there was a simple way to do this in vb6, you could add an installer like you can add a new form.
How can I do this in vb.net? I downloaded and installed the Windows SDK from [url]... because it said somewhere that it could create installer packages and had tools to do so for .net

Im making a small tool that helps gamers keep track of their kills and deaths, and their kill/death ratio.I calculate ratio on startup of the program, straight after kills and deaths are loaded off my website.Dim ratio As Decimal ratio = Val(txt_kills.Text / txt_deaths.Text) At the moment, kills = 172 and deaths = 145. Ratio results in 1,1862068. How can I round this number up and turn this into a number with 2 integers after the dot? ( 1.19 ) I tried a hundred things so far but I cannot figure this out.
