VS 2010 'code Library' Launching Multiple .exe Files From One Form?
Apr 22, 2012
I am trying to create a sort of code library in visual basic where the form displays a list box of certain project files in vb that i have made in the past and when clicked, launches the .exe files of those visual basic program project files.I know it does not work the same way as writing/ reading text files to vb and it seems as simple as 'on click, launch .exe of selected string "vb program 1" and so on. I am having trouble getting started on this one. Im sorry I cannot provide any starter code bc I only have a basic understanding of in/out text files which wont work the same way with .exe
When I click a button to Shell something, instead of having to specify where the exe (or whatever file it might be) is, i was wondering if I could combine it with VB to make it something like this. Shell ("Internet Explorer.exe"). Also, have VB save the file so anywhere I take that single exe file i made with VB, the exe file I want to shell goes with me. So that way I can launch multiple files from just one exe file and not have any directories to worry about.
I had a weird series of errors involving e.Graphics.DrawString() when painting a panel.I am using a barcode font [Code 128] with a library that converts text to the proper format for Barcode readers. That's fine, however, when I draw it to the panel, that's where things stop being fine:But, here's where things get funky. When I put it into a TextBox instead of drawing it via Graphics.DrawString(), everything is peachy:In fact, the TextBox one looks much better than the Graphics.DrawString() one! Am I doing something wrong?[code]
I'm attempting to create a little library to encrypt and decrypt Files with AES. There are loads of examples of how to do this on the internet so coding is not a problem. There are however a few questions regarding cryptography and AES in general.
#1 Does the IV need to be kept a secret like the key ? #2 Can I just hash a string with SHA512 to make a key for AES ? or do I need to use PasswordDeriveBytes ? #3 In the case of me using PasswordDeriveBytes Do I need to keep the salt a secret ?(or do I need to keep it at all) #4 Can I generate the IV from the same password that the Key is derived from ?(if so How ?)
I have a dual-monitor setup. When I launch the main program, I need to make sure that it always launches in "Screen 1". I have a button within the program that launches another fullscreen window and I need this to always launch in the next available screen (read: not covering the main program window)I am using the System.Windows.Forms.Screen class to try to accomplish this and have have had about 80% success. I can successfully test for multiple monitors (which enables the button). When they click it, I can get it to always launch in the second screen. The problem I'm encountering while testing is the main program is launching in Screen 2, so the second window covers it.
Here's what I'd like to accomplish ultimately: I would like to always launch my program in Maximized stated (and disable resizing, minimizing/maximizing is ok, just not double-clicking titlebar to resize) in the primary monitor (where Taskbar is being displayed). Then, when the button within the program is pressed, it launches the new window in the NEXT available monitor in Maximized stated.
I'm using VB.Net to launch multiple command line window (same exe file) through Process.StartInfo. I would like to have those windows running at background without hanging main UI thread that launch them and at the same time able to get the output of those external window to show progress at progress bar. Here is a summary of what I'm trying to achieve but need further advise which way is feasible
- launch multiple exe command through Process.StartInfo
- don't want the external exe to hang my main UI thread
- need to get feedback from external exe to update progress bar which is placed at main UI thread
I would like to be able to parse vb.net code files, so I can examine the collection of Subs, Functions (and their contents, including comments), private variables, etc. I can be open the actual source code files. So for example, if I have:
I have this code so I was wondering how do you put in multiple files: E.g: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If System.IO.File.Exists("C:fileiwannadelete") Then My.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteFile("C:fileiwannadelete") End If End Sub
This started happening randomly yesterday. When I press F5 to test my project, an old build of the program (circa yesterday afternoon) launches. No changes (and I've tried in a few different files) are reflected in the project. However, and this is truly perplexing, if I go to Build --> Build from the Menu bar, the output .exe in the /bin/release/ directory DOES include all the recent changes.
I am trying to create a program that can upload many files at a time to an FTP site. I don't want to use a dialog box. I want to be able to specify a certain requirement in my code (for ex. all files that begin with "abc_"). I was able to find a lot of code online for uploading a single file, but all the code that I found for mulitiple files were either very lengthy or done by bringing in a new library
I'm trying to create a DLL with some useful methods and subs for my use. But when I tried declaring an object for Form or using the keyword Screen, Bitmap, etc.. gives an error saying that "The type 'Screen' is not defined" and like that..
I have a project that will need several forms with a similar structure - a Data Grid View control, a few buttons and some textboxes. They are not similar enough to use just one form and change things programatically so I would like to create a "template" and add several copies of it into my project. My first attempts have failed miserably, ending up with lots of "conflicts" and "duplicate items".
So, how should I save a form from my existing project in such a way that I can then load in multiple copies (giving them suitably different names) without having name conflicts?
I'm new to the .NET platform (old-time ASPer) and for a project have a simple pair of .aspx scripts that take some querystring data and process it. They both make use of the same Subs, Functions in them, so naturally I'd like to move the code to a common resource.vb file. Having done some reading, it looks like my options are a Code-Behind type setup, and placing the Subs, Functions in a .vb file and placing that file in App_Code.So, the Code-Behind model doesn't seem to make sense here, as the functions are shared by both files. Placing the Subs and Functions in /App_Code/resources.vb and I am getting the following error when trying to call any of the routines:
Wondering if it is possible. It works on the idea that all files share common code. The program would ideally analyse the source file and compare it to the reference files. It would then find common parts of the code and write it to a rebuild file. At the end the rebuild file and the reference files would then be able to rebuild the source file without it being present.
Public Function CompressFile(ByRef file As String, ByRef destination As String) As String 'Make sure user provided a valid file with path If IO.File.Exists(file) = False Then
[code]......
But I can't manage to ZIP more then one file! I've tried using an arraylist.
Just after some quick advise. I have a console application that I've written, its basicly a script that uses arguments passed into it. I have also created a form application which creates pre defined links (.lnk) containing the arguments. I would like these to both be a part of the same exe. So if the are no arguments passed in.
I'm trying to move some Subs from my form file (Form1.vb) to a seperate class file to keep my Form1 neat. To complete my application, I plan on creating several more classes that do different things, but that will also be used by Form1.My problem is that even when I add the Inherits command to the seperate class file (Inherits Form1), the Form1 part of the inherits command is underlined in blue along with the names of all the controls I'm using on that form. When I hover my cursor over Form1 in the inherits command, I get the following error:Class 'EmailSample' cannot inherit from itself.I've never been able to get working with seperate class files right, even when I do it as shown in tutorial videos, if it's not an error like this, it's "btnSubmit is not declared" or something like that..
My current code is Imports System.Net Imports System.IO Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click# Using wc As New WebClient() wc.DownloadFile("http://link.com/1.swf", Path.Combine("1.swf")) End Using End Sub End Class
And that work's like a charm, however say there was swf's from 1 to 2700 or so, how would i go around making it download each of those files one at a time or all at once? I could do a loop but I'm not the best in Visual Basic 2010
I'd like to convert a VB6 application to .Net. It downloads multiple files at once and the progress is shown in a Listview. I'm using the Winsock control in a Usercontrol. Every time I start a new download a new instance of the Usercontrol is loaded. This way I can easily download 25 files at once with very low CPU usage.
I looked into the WebClient Class to download the files, but I noticed it only downloads two files at a time. Other downloads won't start unless one of the first two downloads are finished, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.
1) What's the best way to download dozens of files at once? It must be possible to resume the downloads. 2) How do I keep the downloads apart (index number?), so the Listview can be updated accordingly? I don't need help with the Listview itself.
I'm using a WebClient to download a bunch of small files from a website, but doing them one at a time takes a long time, approximately 20-30 minutes for all of them. Is there a way to download multiple files simultaneously, to shorten the time it takes?
I just started playing with VB, so please excuse my ignorance. I've been trying to find an answer in existing threads, but all the stuff there is very confusing to me.I wonder if somebody could create a complete code for me and paste it in an answer to this post.
Basically, what I need is: In VS 2010 - Windows form.
1. Click a button.
2. Grab all files from specified folder on my computer (different extensions = html, txt, bat and some other).
3. Load all the files to specified folder on FTP server replacing existing files without prompt.
4. Display confirmation if succesful or error message. (a progress bar would be handy, but this isn't crucial).
The folder on my computer is always the same folder The folder on the ftp server is always the same folder[URL]..I need to specify username and password for the FTP server
This should all happen without any input from the user - simply click and message saying 'it is done' once all the files were uploaded.
I'm trying to make a "Simon" game with four buttons labeled 1-4. The game is supposed to read the numbers out loud, but i have a problem with that. I have 4 wav files from google text-to-speech, each named 1-4. I made an number generator that can return like this "42331", and the game is supposed to play 4.wav, 2.wav, 3.wav, 3.wav and 1.wav.
Here's what I got so far. Public Class Form1 Dim rnd As New Random Dim i = 0 Dim level As Integer = 5 Dim nums As String [code] ..... It only plays 1.wav (the last in the sequence).
I have an application which has multiple files .rtf I open it on a rich text box.
Here is my code for print preview PrintPreviewDialog1.Document = PrintDocument1 PrintPreviewDialog1.ShowDialog()
I press the button for preview and it shows me the preview. But if I change the content of the rich text box with another file, the print preview shows me empty. How I can send it to a new preview?
I'm downloading 3 files from the server using wClient, which goes ok, but I was wondering if the progressbar% is correct.
vb.net Private WithEvents wClient As New WebClientPrivate WithEvents w2Client As New WebClientPrivate WithEvents w3Client As New WebClient wClient.DownloadFileAsync(New Uri("http://...w2Client.DownloadFileAsync(New Uri("http://...w3Client.DownloadFileAsync(New Uri("http://...' progressbarPrivate Sub wClient_DownloadProgressChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
I'm trying to implement Bandwidth Total calculation into my little desktop monitoring program using 2 *.txt files. Everything else is working great except for the writing/reading part of it. I had put this together originally without the intention of bandwidth monitoring, but I've decided it would be a good thing to have.I want to have 2 monitoring types: Windows Session Bandwidth Total & All-Time Bandwidth Total (since the program was 1st run on the machine). The counter is on a Timer (2nd of 2), and I want it to write and add the label values each second into the file, then when Form3 is opened, to read the text file and show the results.
