I'm trying to create a zip file though vb.net and move files into it using the built in windows zip utlity. so far I can create the zip, but not able to move any files to it.Here's my code:

View 1 RepliesWondering if it is possible. It works on the idea that all files share common code. The program would ideally analyse the source file and compare it to the reference files. It would then find common parts of the code and write it to a rebuild file. At the end the rebuild file and the reference files would then be able to rebuild the source file without it being present.
For Example.
source file code = xxyyzyzyxw
ref file 1 = xyxxzyzxwyy
ref file 2 = zxxwyzzywxx
The program would then analyse these files and make a rebuild file like the following
source(0,1) = ref1(2,3)
source(2,3) = ref1(10,11)
source(4,7) = ref2(5,6) + ref2(5,6)
source(8,9) = ref2(2,3)
Thus you would be able to build the source file using these instructions and the reference files.
This is driving me round the bend. I'm a long time VB.NET forms developer, quite new to ASP.NET and completely new to MVC. I'm creating vbhtml pages that use the VB.NET razor syntax, and I seem to be constantly fighting against the UI which is trying to indent my code incorrectly. Take the following example, based on the template page for a new Razor view:

I am creating a kind of 'lightweight' visual studio IDE, basically a text editor for VB or C# code files, or in other words: a visual studio IDE without all the fancy stuff like actually running projects, debugging, form designer, etc. The idea is that you can view and edit code source files quickly and easily without having to start visual studio itself. I often find myself opening source files in notepad when I just want to take a look at something quickly, or to type some code that is intended to be posted on this forum. I find it too much 'work' to fire up visual studio on those occasions, but it would be nice if I had some basic syntax highlighting (already have that), Intellisense and such.
What I'm trying to do now is parse a VB or C# source file to extract information such as the types/classes in a file, and the members (as well as their parameters and return type) in those classes.I was going to do this manually but I doubt I could pull it off efficiently (if at all), so I started thinking about it and thought maybe .NET has some built in functionality already. I don't know much about this stuff, but I do know that you can compile source code by feeding it a string that represents the code. So if it can 'compile a string', then surely it should be able to parse it as well? With the difference between compiling and parsing (I'm not sure if I have this terminology correct) I mean:
- compiling: reading the source and converting it to the CIL so it can be run
- parsing: reading the source and extracting classes/members info, so that the IDE can do some basic error checking (undeclared variable warnings etc) and display the members in a class (in those comboboxes at the top of the code editor for example).
I don't need to compile the source (I'm not going to run the application), I only need to parse it.I would assume that I could call some function that would return a collection of types (Type), and from that I could figure out the members (MethodInfo, PropertyInfo, etc) and their parameters, return types, etc. And all I should give it is the source code as a string.
I have a .exe in the mix with my .vb files in visual studio 2010 and I can't figure out a code to run it. I added it through the add existing if that means anything.

I know this is out there and probably illogical but I was wondering if it was possible to take multiple picture files and compact them into one file.... and then retrieve them from the program later? Way to combine any amount of image files into one file

I am trying to retrieve file details from files in the Program Files folder. I receive an error while trying to retrieve file details.

I receive file not found error at 3rd line. But if I change the path from "%ProgramFiles%Windows DefenderMSASCui.exe" to "c:Program FilesWindows DefenderMSASCui.exe" it works fine.
What should I do if I want to retrieve file details from the path which includes a "%" character?
I am trying to create a sort of code library in visual basic where the form displays a list box of certain project files in vb that i have made in the past and when clicked, launches the .exe files of those visual basic program project files.I know it does not work the same way as writing/ reading text files to vb and it seems as simple as 'on click, launch .exe of selected string "vb program 1" and so on. I am having trouble getting started on this one. Im sorry I cannot provide any starter code bc I only have a basic understanding of in/out text files which wont work the same way with .exe

I have the files playing as they are being downloaded but i can't see how long the file is or seek reliably. i was reading that the AVI headers are in the last 512kb of the AVI file *why would't they put it at the start* lol so my question is is there a way to download the last 512Kb of the file i'm downloading. i have the Bytes Read and Length of the file while its downlaoding i'm just not sure where to go from there, or how to do it atleast. If i had the length in time of the Avi file i could set the trackbar to be able to seek properly. or if someone has an idea how i could get the time of the video by using fps and some math i could prob do it that way too but idk how i would tell how i can find how many kb are in the fps i'm sure it changes so think that way is't going to be reliable. how to get the last 512kb would be the best option not sure if it can be done even.

But i dont want to replace any of the files in the recycle bin i just want a code to move one file out of one folder and into another. So if there is a code for this then great.

However, if I try and increase the limit to about 10000 kB, it doesn't work and accepts files only upto 4 MB in size and I get an error saying that the connection to the server was reset. I referred: [URL]..but when I modified the web.config.comments file, nothing happened. Where am I going wrong?
Also, I wanted to know how this would work when I deploy it on the web server. I'm asking because in the code behind, I'm still giving a hard coded value for the path where the file is to be uploaded. How does this work?

The problem is that when I actually download the file from my source, then upload it to my destination. The only thing in the file is a piece of text that says "System.IO.Streamreader" What am I doing wrong here?

We won't write your code for you (we may offer suggestions on code you've already written).You need to build a collection of filenames you find and then use a for each loop to do what you want.

I'm maintaining a WinForms application which was not written using any development patters conducive to localizing the classes in the project which were not directly associated with forms, or the code-behind partials of the forms.Thus, there is MessageBox() code with English text in it in almost every code file. I'd like to find a tool which will "scrape" those strings from the code, insert the strings in a resource file, and substitute a call to the resource with the substituted string in a comment.
