VS 2010 Write Multiple Label.Text's To *.txt Files?
Feb 8, 2012
I'm trying to implement Bandwidth Total calculation into my little desktop monitoring program using 2 *.txt files. Everything else is working great except for the writing/reading part of it. I had put this together originally without the intention of bandwidth monitoring, but I've decided it would be a good thing to have.I want to have 2 monitoring types: Windows Session Bandwidth Total & All-Time Bandwidth Total (since the program was 1st run on the machine). The counter is on a Timer (2nd of 2), and I want it to write and add the label values each second into the file, then when Form3 is opened, to read the text file and show the results.
I am trying to create a program which will read the files that exist in a directory, and then write in a text file the specific information (full file name, date created)i have found several code in the site but i cant make it work, the machine i am running the code is XP and i am using VB2008.The code i have found is the following:
I would like to know if there was a way to loop through all the checkboxes on a form and if the checkbox is checked then I need it to copy the text from the checkbox and the label. Thera are 23 of these labels with two checkboxes for each.I need to be able to paste this in notepad and have it formated as such
i would like to be able to double click on a label for a text box and write a value into the .tag property and then change the color surrounding the label.for example.. if the user double click the default label..(which looks like the stardard label) then I would write a "1" to the tag property for that label, and at the same time, change the line color surrounding the label to red(maybe even changing the thinkness of the line).
when the user would double click the label again.. I was see that it was already selected and change the setting back to the default.
I want to read a text file and write the lines on different labels. Is it possible to generate labels?
I tried with four labels with label1, label2, label3, label4 names but I don't know how to create a loop to read every line of the file and write it in every different label. First line in first label, second line in second label etc.[code]...
Need to enter characters into a label box as input that should display wingdings as output in a text box.How do you write code in VB to convert characters (ABC) from a label box to wingdings in a text box?
its noobish question but i didnt find any solution for it here is my problem : i want to write bites from 2 seprated file (1.txt + 2.txt) into 1 single file(3.txt) but i cant
In previous versions of VB, you could click on a label to gain the focus, and then type multiple of lines of text. In VB 2008, clicking on the control does not open up the control for editing. You can use the text property, but can only enter a continuous string of characters. How do you insert blank lines between paragraphs?
I'm having a problem adding multiple dynamic controls. the problem is that I can add one no problem, but when I try to add more it only adds one with the label's text = the last file name in openfiledialog. [Code]
I am trying to write a form with 6 text boxes that when the update button is pressed it will add the text from each textbox to a text file and the each one separated by a comma on one line. I know how to read/write from a file to a text box and vice versa but I cannot figure out how to add 6 textboxes to the file in one go.
I am busy doing a little project for myself, but seem to have hit a stumble block, and i have been on the net for days, but cant find something that works, so hopefully someone here might be able to assist me. I have a windows form, a xml document and a label on the form, i want the <description> node of the following xml document to populate that label, if needs be, i can change the label to another control.
I wanted to have multiple color for text in single label controller
e.g.
label1.Text = " $ 480.00 "
What I want is character $ in Red color and other digits or character after $ in color blue. $ 480.00 I cannot use separate labels for digits and $ due to limitation
Im creating a server for a type of application on a mobile platform. When a user sends a message a sub in my server is called through WCF. Anyway from the sub that gets called when a user sends a message I add my ProccesMessage sub to a threadPool with the actual message as argument. In ProccesMessage sub I want to write the message to a log. I have Implemented this by directly writing the message to a log from the respective threads. Now since only me is testing this there is very little chance that 2 messages will arrive at the same time
So I'm working on an app that needs to create files on the end user's computer to store info in (mainly text files and HTML files), and I'm trying to figure out the best location to write these files to. I've been reading various articles @ this online all afternoon, and the advice I've read so far seems to be "all over the place".From what I understand, if the end user is not logged into Windows as "admin", then there are a limited number of locations where files can be written to their computer, without them having to deal with UAC popups, etc.I would like my end-user's to have to jump through as few hoops as possible (none, preferably ), so should I only write my files to these specific locations? when I write the files to the end-user's computer, I have 2 different types of info that needs to be stored...
Info "A" is temporary data that only needs to be stored/accessed while the end user has my program open (and this data can be safely deleted each time they close my program).Info "B" needs to be stored somewhere where it never gets deleted, so that it can be accessed by my program for as long as the end-user has my program installed on their computer.So would it be best to store info "A" in the Temp folder, and info "B" in the App Data folder?And for any files that I store in the "temp" folder, do these files get automatically deleted when the end-user turns off their computer, or do I have to programatically delete these files every time my program exits?
i need to code a program to help me in my everyday job, i own my own business and this will help me with my sales. its a very simple program, and i cant figure out how to get my multiple textboxes to write to a new .txt file. i can only get it to do 1 line at a time. I have textboxes. named txtDate, txtCarrier, txtLocation, txtDateEmpty, txtDestination, txtQuote, txtPhone, txtFax, txtEmail.I want the "txtDate" textbox to be autofilled with the current date and time of the user input, which is started on the next textbox.the rest of the textboxes are going to be user input. then when the user is done entering data into the multiple textbox's they would click a button "add" or something to that sort.then those text box entries including the "txtDate" would be written to a new .txt file.in this format, Quote"Date - Carrier - Location - DateEmpty - Destination - Quote - Phone - Fax - Email "all on the same line.and when the "add" button is clicked, the multiple textbox fields clear all the data previously entered.and is ready for another user input.
after the 2nd set of user input is entered, and "add" button is pressed,it would add(append) another line to same txt file previously written. example: Quote"Date - Carrier - Location - DateEmpty - Destination - Quote - Phone - Fax - Email " "Date2 - Carrier2 - Location2 - DateEmpty2 - Destination2 - Quote2 - Phone2 - Fax2 - Email2 "
then the previously filled text boxes would be empty again, and ready for input 3. and with this you would be able to add countless lines over and over of user input.ok, also when the program launchesI want a msg txt box to pop up and ask. "Where is the Load Origin?" then the user would input data and click enterAnother Msg box would pop up and ask "Where is the Destination?"Next "Pick Up Date" then "Deliver Date" and last would be "Notes" and all that data that was entered into the msg box's will Be at the top of the txt file like a header .
I am a new to visual basic 2010 and I am creating a small game program that will have players names and keep their scores in a text file. I placed the text file in debug folder for debugging purposes. The code below has been simplified for demonstrating purposes only.
I'm fairly new to VB.NET, and I'm working on a text editor with a tabbed interface. I deal with large text files. Should I have each tab / text document open up in a new thread or a process? I basically want the entire application to always run fast as the text editor is just one part of it. If I have several large text files open I don't want the rest of the application slowing down a bit.
I want to be able to take some user inputs and then using the 'filesave' write a vb code file which I could load and get the program to execute. At the minute changing 4 text boxes on the main form to 4 values entered on the values form (where the save button is). I've tried this code;
How do you write config files for vb programs? Like .xml files, Seen some examples but didn't fully grasp them. Say I had a program that launched programs and I wanted it to save the:Program Name, Program Location, Program Site, etc..So I am guessing the xml would looking something like:
how to load the settings from these configs. The reason I want to write it to an external config is because I plan to add an updating feature and I want the configs outside of the program.
I need to write a small program to get a certain task done, but I have zero experience in manipulating text files. how to write the following program:The program should take all the text files in a folder, and add the data in a csv text file, with columns:
Text file Name, Content of text file Easy as that. I'm sure this cannot be that hard, please give me a start on this.
i am very new to VB and have been trying to make a hangman game. I was wandering if there is a way to add multiple label boxes to a form based on the size of an array. For example a user inputs the word h-e-l-l-o in a input box that word is then split and put into an array(arrword) then i want the main form to appear with 5 label boxes each one containing a letter that from the array(arrword)
i am trying to write to a label via a loop incrementing the label number on each run .The Labels are part of a "windows form" if that makes any difference .The code bellow is an example of what i wish to do [code]
