View 9 RepliesI have a form with over 100 textboxes that are set in multiple groupboxes and that number grows as I continue working. I am trying to get an event to fire if there is a keydown on any one of the textboxes. other than individually adding all 100 textboxes to the handler, is there a way for me to create a single event that handles all textbox.keydown events on the form?
I want to run something like the code below every time a textbox on my form changes. The code rules out text boxes within groupboxes that I don't want to fire.
If TypeName(SplitContainer1.ActiveControl) = "TextBox" and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP1Payoffs") = 0 _
and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP2Payoffs") = 0 and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP1LoanDetails") = 0 Then

one of the apps that I wrote a couple months ago is getting to be rolled out to my production floor; one issue tho - It works great as a standard executable (you double-click, it starts and waits for data), however, I cannot get it to start as a system service.
I've already done a little bit of research for how to create a system service, but most of the information that I've come across is point to VC# or Visual Studio 2010 - I'm not finding much for VB 2010. Additionally, I'm only using VB 2010 Express and I'm pretty sure that I don't have the Windows Service application template's on my PC.
My application does have a "UI", but there isn't any user interaction; it starts and just sits minimized in the system tray polling a directory for the existence of a file - i.e. the windows form is not required.
In VB10/win forms project, when I change the forms font size the form and all the controls on the form get larger or smaller, OK great! The problem is the combo boxes then appear with their text highlighted. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong, simple example..

I'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why.

Ok, so I know I have to change the labeledit to true but that doesn't change the selected node to be able to edit, so how does that work?
Along with renaming I have it set to that a user can add a node. So once the node has ben added how do I let them rename it as it is being added and without being a prompt or inputbox? So lets say I cam clicked on a parent and they click add node, it adds it to parent but I have it so it is default "New" but I want them to edit it as it is added. I think it will be along the same lines as clicking on one and rename but I have to start some place.
well i successfully docked a perpixel alpha form with the main form(form1). but the perpixel alpha form always appears at the top left corner of the screen and when i move the main form the form(perpixel alpha form) inside it dosen't move it stays at the top left corner. ALWAYS. to dock the perpixel alpha form i used
Me.toplevel = false
Me.parent = form1
I am having trouble getting the Student Name entered in the Student Name Form to change the Text titles of the GroupBox's on the Main Form and Schedule Form. I understand the logic of what needs to be done to some extent, but I am having trouble coming up with the correct coding.
Below is a snippet of the Student Name Form code that I tried most recently just to see if I could get any change to happen to the other 2 Forms when the Accept Name button was clicked. As of yet, I cannot get a change to happen at all in the groupboxes of the other Forms.[code...]
In VB 2008, I have a Parent form with a combo box on it. There is a child form also with a combo box on it. I want to be able to change the values on the child form based on what the user selected from the main form. The user launches the child form from a toolbar on the Parent form. The following code is run:
[Code]...
What I want to do is if the Parent's combo box has "Red", "Blue", "Green" values and the user selects "Green", the child form's combo box(With the same values) will also change to "Green". (I do not need to change the Parent form if the child form changes.) I've tried changing the Child's combobox from the combobox's change event on the Parent form, and the code runs, but nothing changes on the child form.

View 3 RepliesI have one main form, and i want to dynamically change it's content, via pressing some buttons.Let's say i have a button "New user" and "Login", and if I press new user, i don't want to make new form + show, i want all labels and buttons of new user to be displayed right in the main form. And if i press login, the main form content to change to some labels and textboxes? All I can now, is just make new forms and show them to the user via .Show() command.

View 5 RepliesI have a RTB (RTB1). I have a "change font" button which allow the user to change the font of what ever text is selected in RTB1. It works just fine.Now I have added a second RTB on the same form. Of course that original "change font" button does not work because it works on RTB1, not RTB2. I know I could put a second button to change font in RTB2, but I would like a more elegant solution. How can I tell which RTB box I was in when i clicked on the "Change font" button?
