Hey everyone, if Im using an instance of the same form 2 times, how can I change the text of the form? Ex: If I run the first instance of the form, it would say form1 in the top left hand corner... the other form, say form2?

I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.
View 13 RepliesI am having trouble getting the Student Name entered in the Student Name Form to change the Text titles of the GroupBox's on the Main Form and Schedule Form. I understand the logic of what needs to be done to some extent, but I am having trouble coming up with the correct coding.
Below is a snippet of the Student Name Form code that I tried most recently just to see if I could get any change to happen to the other 2 Forms when the Accept Name button was clicked. As of yet, I cannot get a change to happen at all in the groupboxes of the other Forms.[code...]

View 5 RepliesIn a piece of code I am writing I am trying to change the text of a label in my form based on a timer. I have MANY other labels that are all updating in their own subs and when I try to add any new labels(in any sub) to update it wont. I am using Label.Text = counter where counter is a string that is changing. I have tried refreshing the form, Label.refresh() Label1.Update()....The only thing I think it could be is that the redraw is being held up by other calculations on the cpu. How can I make the label text change and update properly?

I have a form which contains a large number of textboxes covering numerous panels/tab controls and I would like to have the user only have one text box visible at a given time and when the user clicks on the screen to another label with a corresponding text box I would like that to appear and the other currently open to disappear. Currently I have the following loop that goes through and changes the visibility of the appropriate controls unless it is the name of the control I am looking for:

My form holds a group of textbox's that get data from a dataset, it also has a navigator on it to nav the records.I'm trying to have the "title" or text of the form itself change with the contents of the dataset, I can make it change using the nav button events, but I have to put code into every single event (bindingnavigatorMoveFirst_click, movenext.... etc) and the title does not show when the form first loads that way.

I'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why.

I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click.What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.

everyone! I've been at this for a while, and I'm not sure how this issue can be resolved:I'm working on a project in VB.Net, and I have a form with a rich text box. I have a groupbox with 4 radio buttons inside that are intended to change the font color of the text. Coincidentally, I have to repeat this same functionality for a 2nd set of radio buttons that would change the text font family.
At any rate what I've only been able to do is the following to successfully change the font color of whatever text I highlight in the rich text box:

Is there a way that I could write a sub (I'm assuming I would use a sub, since I don't think I need to return anything, thus eliminating the use of a function) that would handle the action of changing the selected text color in the rich text box without having to use a separate sub for each radio button? My application appends incoming report data onto a RichTextbox control. In VB 2008, I have a Parent form with a combo box on it. There is a child form also with a combo box on it. I want to be able to change the values on the child form based on what the user selected from the main form. The user launches the child form from a toolbar on the Parent form. What I want to do is if the Parent's combo box has "Red", "Blue", "Green" values and the user selects "Green", the child form's combo box(With the same values) will also change to "Green". (I do not need to change the Parent form if the child form changes.) I've tried changing the Child's combobox from the combobox's change event on the Parent form, and the code runs, but nothing changes on the child form.

What I would like to know is how, if there is no text selected inside the rtb, to make it only change the text that is typed after the change. I have already made it so that a selection can be changed independently but cannot make it change only text that is going to be typed if there is nothing selected.
