Textbox Entry On One Form To Change Text Output On Another Form
Apr 10, 2012
I am having trouble getting the Student Name entered in the Student Name Form to change the Text titles of the GroupBox's on the Main Form and Schedule Form. I understand the logic of what needs to be done to some extent, but I am having trouble coming up with the correct coding.
Below is a snippet of the Student Name Form code that I tried most recently just to see if I could get any change to happen to the other 2 Forms when the Accept Name button was clicked. As of yet, I cannot get a change to happen at all in the groupboxes of the other Forms.[code...]
I just want to open a form based on a users input into the textbox
Public Class MainForm
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TagBox1.Click Form2.Show()
[CODE]....
I already have it opening the form2 based on a click from the picture, but decided aginst that design. Also any design on form2? (below) I am storing values for tags inside the forms....
Public Class Form2
Private Sub saveButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles saveButton.Click My.Settings.SaveTitle = TextBox1.Text
I cant seem to find any link or topic regarding my problem. I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.
send the text from a certain line in the hidden console window to a textbox in the form, but I need this output while the console application is still running in a hidden window. Since I am going to have multiple instances of this console application running, I have assigned their processes to an array and each have a separate "hidden" console window. After I launch these applications (with different arguments assign to them), they require no input and will run until I ".kill them" using the GUI.The console application was written in the old C and it's source code scares me.
I am creating this GUI "bolt on" application for it in VB.NET 2005 to clean up desktop space (save me from 30 console windows) and to be able to start, stop, and monitor them from a single clean GUI.Attempted solutions:I have reviewed the information [URL]But again, that just tells me how to capture the output of it after the console application has exited, which I already know how to do and I do not wish to kill the application just to see a certain line of it's output as it would obviously interrupt what it is doing.
I was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? I dont want to use several global variables b'coz I might need multiple validations as above. Please help me on this.
how to redirect outputs from console to a window form text box,but the console application I'm using is always running real time, thus my .net application hangs until I close the program that is read real time. The code displays the application to a 2nd form with a textbox multi line. Until I close that my entire program hangs and the console application monitored runs.
How do I code it to:
1. Run real time without hanging the entire program.
2. the console app must run at all times. (figured how to hide/ and no window created for it)
Sub Console() Form2.Show() Dim myCon As New Process myCon.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
I need to change the Text property in several menu entries, for example to display several of the last files that were opened in my App.
I save the names of the last files opened, in the proper sequence, in a file that is called when my App starts.
When the App starts, the names stored in the file are assigned to the menu fields, such that the user only has to click on the desired file to load.
When the user opens a file not listed, the new name is added at the beginning of the list, and the file names are re-assigned to the Text property of the menu entries.
This works fine in VB6, but when I re-assign the string in the Text property, some menu entries are updated, but some are not.
I have a form with over 100 textboxes that are set in multiple groupboxes and that number grows as I continue working. I am trying to get an event to fire if there is a keydown on any one of the textboxes. other than individually adding all 100 textboxes to the handler, is there a way for me to create a single event that handles all textbox.keydown events on the form?
I want to run something like the code below every time a textbox on my form changes. The code rules out text boxes within groupboxes that I don't want to fire.
If TypeName(SplitContainer1.ActiveControl) = "TextBox" and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP1Payoffs") = 0 _ and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP2Payoffs") = 0 and InStr(ctrl.Parent.Name, "GroupP1LoanDetails") = 0 Then
I am trying to change a property of a data bound textbox on start up of a form and each time a new record is navigated to. I can't find the a good event to attach this action to.
Hey everyone, if Im using an instance of the same form 2 times, how can I change the text of the form? Ex: If I run the first instance of the form, it would say form1 in the top left hand corner... the other form, say form2?
In a piece of code I am writing I am trying to change the text of a label in my form based on a timer. I have MANY other labels that are all updating in their own subs and when I try to add any new labels(in any sub) to update it wont. I am using Label.Text = counter where counter is a string that is changing. I have tried refreshing the form, Label.refresh() Label1.Update()....The only thing I think it could be is that the redraw is being held up by other calculations on the cpu. How can I make the label text change and update properly?
When in design view I can change the text displayed in the banner of the form(next to the icon) but when I build the code and test the form doesn't have the text displayed? I'm using VB express 2008
I have a form used to display records read from a dB. The record fields are displayed in textboxes to allow editing. When the form loads, it reads all records from the table and loads the first record to the form - very straighforward. I set the Textbox.Readonly = True after loading the data. I have an "Edit" button that sets the value back to false so that editing can occur.
All fields display correctly apart from the first field textbox where there appears to be no text displayed. If I press the "Edit" button and set the cursor into the textbox and use the arrow key to move left, the text is there. In other words, the text is loaded to the textbox but somehow it is hidden. Now if I move to the next record the field information displays correctly. The problem only occurs when the form is first loaded and the first record is displayed.
Now for the strange part. If I delete that (first) textbox from the form and then re-create it, the weird behavior moves to the next textbox control and the first textbox behaves correctly. I have checked all the properties for the textboxes and made sure they are all the same. I have had this problem before and found the only way to overcome it was to regenerate the entire form again. Does anyone have any clues on what is going astray?
Suppose I have a parameter query called FillByStatus in my "Customer" DataTable and I want to fill the CustomerTableAdapter On Form_Load using this query. So I can do that by using the following code:
Private Sub Form2_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.OrdersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.CustomerOrdersDataSet.Orders) Me.CustomerTableAdapter.FillByStatus(Me.CustomerOrdersDataSet.Customer, "Active") End Sub
Using this tutorial How Do I: Create a One-to-Many Data Entry Form? as a reference Suppose I have a parameter query called FillByStatus in my "Customer" DataTable and I want to fill the CustomerTableAdapter On Form_Load using this query. So I can do that by using the following
Private Sub Form2_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _ Handles MyBase.Load Me.OrdersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.CustomerOrdersDataSet.Orders) Me.CustomerTableAdapter.FillByStatus(Me.CustomerOrdersDataSet.Customer, "Active") End Sub However, when I do that my related DataGridView (orders) is empty, how do I make it so that doesn't happen?
I'm using VB 2005 and have an Edit - Entry form with Textboxes and several Comboboxes. I populate the Comboboxes with Arraylists as shown below. I populate a datatable with the Employee data from my SQL Server. I assign the BindingSource1.Datasource to my Datatable then add Databindings to the ComboControls. The (Fields.STAFF_MGR_ID.ToString) is from an Enum. When all is complete my textbox fields Bind and move with the MoveNext.. no problem, but the comboboxes display nothing.

Im new to this forum and VB Programming. I have installed Visual Basic Express 2008 and SQL Server. The first thing I did was create a new project and within that project created a new sql database. The database I created is to keep a list of clients and I have fields such as client_ID, Firstname..etc The next thing I did was create a data entry form for all the database fields using textboxes. Also 2 buttons named save & cancel. So when the user fills out the client info and clicks on save I want the data to be written to the client table. I know the code has to be written within the save button but I don't know where to start like opening the connection, writing to the database and closing the connection.
I need to create a program that requires password entry. I was thinking of having a form that the user uses to set the password that only opens once (unless a button on the main form is clicked to reset the password.) once the password has been set, the form closes and another opens to enter the password and for each and every time the program is run. Another thing is that if the password has been entered wrong 3 times, the program gives a message box and closes on the ok button.
I have a table and i have a form as belove-studentid:...stuentname:..sex:....dateofbirth:...when i type the studentid if it has late the program select the data to fill all text box on form

I have a Form with a TextBox, and a Save button that saves the text as a .rcp (txt) file. Now I want to add a button that browse for an image that accompany that txt file, and load it into a Picture Box. When I click to Save the txt file, I want it automatically to also save the loaded image With the txt file as the same name as the txt file, without needing to save the image and text separately.
I have this code for my save button: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click SaveFileDialog1.CreatePrompt = True SaveFileDialog1.OverwritePrompt = True ' Set the file name to myText.txt, set the type filter [Code] .....
I am a rookie in VB and have been trying to show in form2 only the records in table2 filtered by the value of a textbox shown in form1 which is a value from table1.So far I have not been able to achieve this and I have seen so many answers to similar questions but when I try there is always something wrong.
Im new to VB programing and Im using VB 2008 Express. I have set up two forms (Main and Edit) and I have a datagrid set up on each form. I can make changes to he DB on the edit form, close it, and the main form is updated with the new info. All is well except that Im also trying to enter data directly into the cells on the DataGrid on the main form and I cant. I can select the cell and it highlights it but it wont accept any characters.
