I'm creating a database backup function into by program which will allow the user to locally backup a database to the selected folder. How do I go about doing this? I realise you cant copy an open database, but I cant think of any other way to do it.

I have two MS Access database; Mydb1 and Mydb2. I would like to do the following:
1. Copy all records in table (MyTable1) from Mydb1 to Mydb2. MyTable1 also exists in Mydb2
2. Move all records in table (MyTable2) from Mydb1 to Mydb2. MyTable2 also exists in Mydb2 which needs to be flushed.

We have an Oracle 11g R2(UNIX) server. A directory was created on this UNIX box for the purpose of uploading/downloading CSV files.I need to access this directory, programmatically from VB.Net in order to search for a specific file (a log file more precisely) and then open it it programmatically in Notepad from my Vb.Net application. I should also be able to delete or copy it to my local drive.I am trying to find a VB.Net code sample that would allow me to implement this: Read/Write/Open files on an UNIX directory.

Why does the code below cause a memory leak when executed? The error only happens when I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 in vb.net language. If I use C # is, there is no problem.
Dim strCon As String = "data source=SRV-10G;user id=Test;password=1234"
dim factory as DbProviderFactory = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("Oracle.DataAccess.Client");
Dim conexao As IDbConnection = factory.CreateConnection
conexao.ConnectionString = strCon

I recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64bit and ever since then I have had nothing but issues with my code attempting to access an Oracle database. I was using msdaora for my connection string however that does not work in 64bit. I changed over to OraOLEDB.Oracle which everything I can find on Google says to use however it fails every time. I have installed Oracle 11g 2 times now and even tried reinstalling VB.net 2010 and still no luck.
Here is my connection string....
Code:
MyConn.ConnectionString = "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;Server=emsp.grhq.XXXX.com;Data Source=emsp;User Id=XXXX;password=XXXX"
And I am inporting....
Code:
Imports System.Data.OracleClient
Yet when I try it says...
Quote:
Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.

I am reading a csv file in to a datatable in vb.net and making a few checks and appending an extra column. I then want to perform a bulk insert using microsofts Oracle.DataAccess (no choice in this) to an Oracle database. what would be the best way to perform this as there is no bulkImport like in SQLserver.

I have installed Visual Studio 2010 and Oracle 11g in my Window 7. Oracle seem to be fine because i can connect to System user, Create user and create database. But the problem is that I can not connect the Oracle to my VB.net project and there is no System.Data.OracleClient Namespace. Do I need to install Oracle Client in my computer even though i have installed Oracle Server?

In my code I have an Oracle command that contains an INSERT statement. Here's a snippet from my SQL:
"'," & "To_Date('" & Format$(dtDateTime_Stamp, "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm") & _
The value of strDateTime_Stamp is #1/19/2011 9:42:22 AM# I'm getting an error ( "ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string") because I don't know how to correctly assign the AM/PM tag on the end -- you'll notice it just says "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm" in my code. I've tried a bunch of different things but nothing works. I also find it odd that if I change the "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm" to "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm" (little m for month) it gives me a 42 for the month value, not a 1. The capital M's fix that but I'm curious to know why.how to I get it to show the AMPM on the end?

I've written several loading programs in the past, but never with VB.NET, always VB 6.0.I need to load a text file (actually, there are 24 per day), into our Oracle database. I have the file open and I can read it no problem, the question is, what's the best way to load it?
In the past, I've always read a record into an array and then passed the array as a variable into the Oracle statement in my code - basically loading one record at a time. I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this, specifically in the new world of VB.NET. Is there a way to load everything at once, rather than running an INSERT statement for every record individually?

I am learning VB for the moment. I want to copy/paste code from a PDF to Visual Basic 2010 Exppress, but if i paste the (structured in PDF) code to VB, i get 1 long string of code and need to restructure it by entering after each line. Otherwise VB gives me a lot of errors. This is a time consuming work. Isn't there a way, VB puts the code in the right format?
