VS 2010 Create Event For Programmatically Created Object
Feb 17, 2011I'm creating a textbox at runtime, which works fine, but now I need it to have a selection_change. How do I do that?

View 9 RepliesSay I have an object that I dynamically create. For example, say I create a button called "MyButton":

I have code that refers to controls like buttons and labels and textboxes (obviously), but i want to create them programatically, how can i create a button or label that is on a form that has also been created programatically. Here is what i have:
Dim frmIndashone As Windows.Forms.Form
Dim vscPage As Windows.Forms.ScrollBar
Dim lblPageNum As Windows.Forms.Label
Dim txtVector As Windows.Forms.TextBox
Dim txtPageCode As Windows.Forms.TextBox
I am asking because i have a With statement that assigns different values to the different things that looks like this below:
RaiseEvent Load(frmIndashone)
With frmIndashone
.vscPage.min = 1
[code]....
But i am told on everyline of the second snippet that vdcPage, lblPageNum, txtVector and txtPageCode are not members of windows.Forms.Form, How can i make them members?
how would I create an event procedure for something not yet on a form?
View 3 RepliesIf you want a instance of an object to be created when a form loads or another class is created, you have two options:
Public class example
private IAmAObject As IAmAObject
public sub new()
[CODE]...
Or like this:
public class example
private IAmAObject as new IAmAObject
public sub new()
[CODE]...
I always use the first one. It's more type work but I think it's neater. How about you people and is there any real difference between the two?
I have to create controls for inputting info to create people objects in the program, because I don't know how many people they are going to input, I have a button that they can press to add more fields.
I need to add a doubleclick event for these dynamic controls (text boxes), how can I create an event for them if they haven't been created yet. Also, as far as I know you cant make a variable part of an object name while declaring it. I need to do something like
Dim dynamicText & (Append variable counter each time a box is made)As New TextBox
dynamicText &variable counter. Name = "TimeTextBox"
dynamicText.Text = "SdgsdG"
dynamicText.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(100, 100)
[code].....
Also is there a way to like copy and paste a group of controls via code instead of having to code each individual one like if I had to do a text box along with a combo box and a lable all at once, can I throw it into something so I only have to recreate the container?
I am creating an Excel Add-In using Visual Studio 2010. I would like to run some code when users clicks a combination of keys.Here is the code I have got
Public Class CC
Private Sub ThisAddIn_Startup() Handles Me.Startup
EnableShortCut()
End Sub
Sub A1()
[Code]...
The Add-In when installed shows an error on clicking the short cuts. It says the specific macro cannot be found.The code under the Sub EnableShortCut() works well when it is in an excel vba module. The same won't work when it is added to an Excel Add-In created with Visual Studio.
If I create new textboxes, or any objects, based on user input, how can I create methods that use those new textboxes (objects). For instance,

After searching Google, and finding only answers to XML indent, "just use Visual Studio's auto indent" and "that would be crazy to write your own auto-indenter" I've decided to come to the good place: StackOverflow.Question:
1. How do I add an 'indent' to a programmatically created file?I would be generating the files via the System.IO class / streamwriter, unless someone can tell me of a better way, I just want to generate a file from my asp.net page, a windows app or possible a batch file (well, maybe not this last one)... to generate a class file, such as Employee.vb OR EmployeeDAL.vb

In my program it detects if there is more than one monitor connected. It then creates a form on each monitor screen and you just click on the screen that you want the program to run on.
Here's where I'm having a problem. Everything works great, but when I load my MAIN form how would I call those programmatically created forms? I can't just do frmYou.close.
Here's the code I use to create the forms.
Public myScreen As New Point
Public ScreenReady As Boolean = False
Public sX As Integer'holds screen x width
Public sY As Integer'holds screen y height
[Code].....
Here is my code to programitically create a textbox on the fly
Dim a1_box As New TextBox
Me.Controls.Add(a1_box)
In another method I need to read the value entered by the user, but, a1_box is not a know item.
how to connect a SQL Table to a DataGridView that was previously created programmatically. Basically, at run-time the user names and creates several empty SQL Tables and DataGridViews. After that the user selects from a combobox the name of the SQL Table and DataGridView that they want to import data into, then clicks a button named "Import"...after clicking "Import" the user navigates to an Excel file, chooses a worksheet, clicks a "Continue" button and then the code successfully connects to the Excel import file and SQLBulkCopies the data to the SQL Table...next I need the imported data in the SQL Table update to the DataGridView...this is the part I can't figure out.
The challenge is the datagridview isn't hard coded it was created and named programmatically at runtime. So now the user selects the name of the SQL Table the data resides in and the name of the DataGridView from the combobox "moduletableCB" and I need the code to update the datagridview.

Now everybody knows that creating GUIs that have lots of repeated elements that are evenly spaced by hand is for chumps; all the cool kids use loops and add them at runtime. Given that being one of the cool kids is one of my top priorities I decided to give this a go - as my current project involves creating a grid of check boxes and then chunking them together under one event handler. In my experience - an nice effective way of dealing with grid like structures (2D arrays if you will) is to use nested loops such as:
For intY = 0 To 9
For intX = 0 To 9
Dim chk As New CheckBox

I have programmatically created a listview in n # of tabpages to display information gathered from an SQL database.Once created, i want the user to be able to select an item from any of the listview's. How can i reference the selected item?[code...]
All i want is to know that when a button control is clicked, which item is being selected in which listview?
I hope the question makes sense, anyways. I'm looking to know if in VB.NET, when we call an object's constructor, is there some kind of a reference that points back to the caller? I'm interested because of a corner case where I want the object being created to first be able to validate the existence of some data in the caller before it allows itself to be created. If this validation fails, I plan on throwing an exception. This corner case will never happen at runtime unless the object being created is used improperly by a programmer. The object being created is not inheriting the object I want it to validate, so I can't do anything with the MyBase qualifier.
It's bit of a "future-proofing" issue that I have a (bad) habit of doing. Not critical -- I can always leave stern comments behind as a last resort. Wanted to know if this was possible.
I have programmatically created a new project from a windows application. I now want to programmatically add a form to this project that already has some data bound controls on it.
View 4 RepliesI have a drop down menu, and based on which item is selected, I call a web service and then dynamically create some text boxes.The first time I drop down the menu and select an item, it works perfectly, and the text boxes are created and populated dynamically. However, the next time I drop down the menu (after the first postback), and select something different..fter the second postback, the original values remain in the textboxes.
View 2 RepliesI don't know if I stated what I mean in the subject correctly, but I'm making a parsing engine similar to XML so I can implement it in my programs. What I need to know is how to make a new thing like how with XML you can declare a new XMLDocument, like
Dim XDoc as new XDocument
OR:
Dim NPoint as New Point(10,35)
With my parsing engine, I'll have a document type called EDocument and I want to be able to declare string as an EDocument like this
Dim MyDoc as New EDocument()
hey guys i need a code that shows me how to make program create an object in run-time...(if this line is clear enough dont read next cause i did even confuse what i want)
the best example i found is dividing procedures..lets assume i did a calculator which also can show the calculating in a picture....when a user use dividing a line has to appear between two numbers(like: ___) and how can i create that line in run-time...
. i was using visible property to do that but when theres a lot possiblities ... its easy to that in run time but i dont know how..
I am trying to create a NodeAdded event for a treeview. Is this possible and if so, where would be a good start point?
View 7 RepliesI'm creating 10 web browsers at runtime, they are all in WBS() array and i need "navigated" event for all of them with ability to identify sender. Either 1 event for this array or event for all web browsers and then i would just check it they are the ones from array.

I am creating an Excel Add-In using Visual Studio 2010. My intention was to add a context menu to a cell and perform some action on the selected cell or cells. Here is the code I have got as of now

If I declare my object at the beggining of my page class, and instantiate it in a dropdownlist selected_index change event. Shouldn't this object be available thru out the entire page and also persist thru a postback? I lose the object in my selected date change event in my calendar.

I know how to handle a single objects property changed event very easily. I want to handle a objects property changed event that is part of another object.
Given Object:
[ObjectY = Y]
+ Public WithEvents X As ObjectX
I would like to do something like:
Private Sub XPropertyChanged() Handles Y.X.PropertyChanged
Right now I need to create a object that equals the object inside that object and then handle this variable pointers property changed, but that is just annoying.
I would like to know how can I invoke a event on a control? By e.g. I have an user control (myUC) that I drag on a panel (myPanel). When the user MouseClick s myUC and drag it I would like to send the MouseClick Event

I am writing a VB.Net app that interacts with an Internet website via a browser control. Basically, my VB.Net app fills in some textboxes, makes a selection in a listbox (<SELECT> <OPTION>...</SELECT> construct), then hits submit.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use a single event handler for several controls in an ASP.NET web page. I would like to add the event handler at runtime if and only if it doesn't already exist. In C#, I would write it as seen below:
if (myTextBox.OnTextChanged == null) myTextBox.OnTextChanged += DoTextChangingValidation;
Likewise, I know I can remove the event handler as follows:
if (myTextBox.OnTextChanged != null) myTextBox.OnTextChanged -= DoTextChangingValidation;
