Well, the path of the .zip file has spaces in it and it's not recongizing the path as a valid path. Is there a another way to tackle this problem besides the shell?I can't us pkzip either. Has you can see I had to use progra~1 instead of Program Files.[code]

im planning to do a midi player; I've tried it via the included .NET and DirectX component, both needs a path to the audio file (String)....
how do I get a path from a resource file?
ps.: there's also a way to play via a stream-link/stream-player, where
my.resource.<filename> is enough, as this declares the directstream.... but I really need to get a path.
This is troubling me as the FileExists command needs a full path.
View 5 Replies1. I have a button, and registry entries, each tell me what version and where it is located.
Example : (reg path = HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareTNL)
Path = c:program filesmyprogram
Regan = us
The program its launching is called caw.exe. but it requires diffrent locations in a file named realms.*** file to work properly. Basically if Regan = us, do this, else if regan = eu do that, else if regan = tu do this. I need to basicly erase everything in that file and replace it, the file location is located under :
"PATH"/data/en"Regan"/realmlist.***
The PATH and Regan need to be replaced with correct paths.
2. After it has finished modifying the File it saves it and then Launches
Path/caw.exe
I have a site that has files that i want to list in a listbox.

When opening the file browser over and over, I want it to show the directory I opened a file from last time. But it always goes back to the initial directory every time I open it. How do I do it?
View 4 RepliesI'm working on an application, a GUI front-end for a command-line program. What I need to do is this:-use the OpenFileDialog to retrieve the command-line program's path (as it may be in different places for different users)-save that path string in a variable that I can use later (save "C: arget" in a variable called mainPath)

My question is as follows: The user has clicked File>Open in Notepad and also clicked on a file/folder. My Application in VB.NET needs to know the path and filename of the selected file/folder before the user selects the OK button of the Open Dialog box. How can I do this with VB.NET (VS2010).
View 5 Replies[code]I have one button to play all the stuff, but it needs the full path to the mp3 file to play, but I only saved the File name to the Listbox.So basically, I'm wondering how to be able to still select files in the Listbox and press Play, when the Listbox's Items do not include the full path to the actual files.I know I could just add the full path to the listbox from the beginning, but I don't think that looks good.So maybe someone can point me in the right direction, or maybe provide me some source code.
View 5 RepliesI am developing an application that will call to the current user path so that a text file can be saved. I have seen a few forum threads that call to the current user path but I have been unsuccessful in making it work. Id like to try and save a text file, lets say 'test.txt' to 'C:Users(current user)My Documents' [URL] The above link has a way of calling the current user name, but when I publish the application, all it does is call to 'C:UsersMy Documents' and ultimately does not work. I have searched multiple terms and about 20 pages deep into google each time.
View 4 RepliesI'm running windows 7 64 bit and using VS 2010. I'm trying to use the filesystem.getfiles to find a file on the computer and return the path for it. However, when I search C:/ and its subdirectories, it always throws an error: "A first chance exception of type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException' occurred in mscorlib.dll"
I've looked everyone online and can't find a solution. I have administrator privileges and really I dont want people who use my app to have to adjust security settings for this to work. Is there not a way to search the C drive for a specific file and return its path? [Code]
I have been using the image.fromfile to set images to a text box but I always have to use a full file path. Like here;

1. Just looking for some general help on how to auto update my application via a file location path (e.g. I have a HTML file containing the current file version and the .exe file to download)
What I need is to read in the HTML file version - DONE Check file version vs HTML file stream input - DONE Replace current .exe file with new .exe file - HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS
I know I have to close the application and then replace the old exe file with the new exe file then restart the application but looking for the best/safest way this can be done
2. Basically what I want is during my Splash screen which runs for 5 seconds I want to check if a network drive is mapped.
if not, pause splash screen ask user for address of drive, map drive then un-pause splash screen and continue with load how do I check if a network drive is mapped? and how do I pause the splash screen?
I am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :
Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"
Dim FilePath As String = MapPath("../Document/123.pdf")
Response.WriteFile(FilePath)
Response.End()
This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.
I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.
i tried using:
docs(i) = javaScriptObj.path().ToString.Replace("/", "").Substring(1)
position = docs(i).IndexOf("")
docs(i) = docs(i).Substring(0, position) + ":" + docs(i).Substring(position + 1)
this only works on local files, but fails when im starting to use network drives.
I'm developing an application in vb.net. You drag any type of file onto the exe, and a window pops up with some options for the file, then it saves the file to a different location, works some SQL magic, etc. It works great for the most part. The only issue I've found is that if the path of the file contains any spaces, the application will crash immediately with the error window:[URl]..I'm using: Private filename as String = Command$ This is located right inside my form's class declaration, not within a sub/function.Without this line, my program runs fine (although useless, without accessing the file).I've also tried (I think this was it, I don't have the code with me at the moment): Private filename as String = Environment.CommandLine So, in vb.net, is there a way to drag a file onto an exe and use that path name, even if there are spaces in the path name?
View 2 RepliesReading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
The code below reads an Icon from an .ico file, converts the Icon read to a Bitmap and saves the bitmap using:
Bitmap.Save(PathA)
Then does:
PanelShowWrittenIconA.BackgroundImage = New Bitmap(PathA)

View 4 RepliesIs there a better way of finding the path of a file that was opened with the open file dialogue? This is what I did. It works, but it seems like there should be a way to get the path through one of the open dialogue options.
Code:
'm_PicSource = OpenFileDialog1.FileName
'm_PicSource is a global var
Dim strCnt As Integer = m_PicSource.Length - 1

how do i return the file path to a variable when using open file dialog to browse and open a file?

View 2 RepliesThe reason I ask is that I want to print, at run-time, a file in the application's resources, like this:

printProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "C:UsersGeoffrey van WykDocumentsCountdown_Timer_Help.rtf"

I'm working on a personal project and so far everything is going perfect. Almost. I have a problem with getting music file info based off of its file path. I.e. "
C:UsersUSERetc." The only things I would need from y'all would be how to get the song's Artist(s) and Name (maybe there's something similar to 'AxWindowsMediaPlayer.currentMedia.getitemInfo("Information")' without actually having to play the song?
After I get this information, I would like to know how to add it to a ListBox as this: "[Artist] - [Song Name]", but I can do the text part if I know the getting-the-information part and adding-the-info-to-listbox part.
can anyone please explain to me how I get the file path to an embedded video resource file I have?Currently I know how to get this while debugging, but I am unsure how to refer to it when built.It needs to work no matter where the application files are.[code]
