I have made a Database.mdf that contains a table that Includes 3 diffrent Column Names.
1:"ID" This one i set to an primary key and i have also made it automaticlly put a number in order to the list. Like 1,2,3,4,5 for each data added. Data Type for this is int.
2:"WordCombination" Were i enter my word combination that i want it to look for)
3."TypeofCombination" Were i enter what the program should add to what i typed in texbox1 if it contains the WordCombination.
I want my program to se if texbox1 contains any of those WordCombinations in my database. And if thats true, Then i want it to show whats in the TypeofCombination + the text in texbox1 in texbox2. If i enter "What do you want ?" in Textbox1 i want the program to find that "What do you want ?" contains "you want" like in ID:1 WordCombination:you want. So becuse this is ture it should enter TypeofCombination in this case "Question:" + what i entered in Textbox1 to show in Textbox2.So if i write "What do you want ?" and click start. Textbox2 should show "Question: What do you want ?" If i Write "My name is Jake" and click start. Textbox2 should show "Answer: My name is Jake".If I Write "hello you Hi there Jacob" and click start. Textbox2 should show "Greeting: hello you Hi there Jacob".And i Should be able to add and delete Word Combinations Without having to change the program.
I have a Microsoft Access database that I connect to with the Jet Database Engine, using VB.NET. I want to programmatically get all of the column names for a particular table [code]...
Is this possible in Access? If not, what are my options for getting the column names?
I want to create a class (I think) that has properties that correspond to column names in a database table, such that they come up in Intellisense when I type the dot after the class name. Is this possible to do?
View 5 RepliesI'm using VB.net to write a MYSQL application and one feature I need to add is the ability to add a column for each week that my employees worked. For example I want the first column to be called "W1" and the next one to be "W2" and so on, right up to "W52". How would I add a column to my table and have it's name add 1 to its current value? If there wasn't any letters in the name it would be easy but I need it to have the "W" in the title as well to avoid confusion. to add the column I have this:
Alter Table Manager ADD W1 MediumINT;
I just need the part that adds an INTEGER to a VARCHAR datatype if possible... Maybe there should be some sort of data type conversion involved? Just to explain further, the black bar at the very top are the date stamps for each week, I would like to have this included in the datagridview if possible but it is not required. Under each week column the employees will be entering the percents they worked (example: 20%, or 0.20 is one day of work) I know this is an odd way of doing things but its mandatory... and i was wondering if it were possible to automate the creation of these columns rather than me having to manually enter them.
I have this MySQL Query glitch in my VB.NET program. Here is the query in VB.NET:
"SELECT Points FROM user WHERE Username = '" & UsernameText.Text & "';"
It will select the points column from the user table from the Username they entered. When I deploy this it will set the value for points to 0 on their account. I'm not even inserting anything in.

I am having a problem with submitting html from a textbox into a mysql table. I would believe this to be due to "special characters".
The code I am using is,
vb.net
Dim html = (sdata.Text.ToString)
Console.WriteLine(updateRecord("INSERT INTO course (tittle, length, begining, price, about, table) VALUES ('" & TextBox1.Text.ToString & "','" & TextBox2.Text.ToString & "','" & TextBox3.Text.ToString & "','" & TextBox4.Text.ToString & "','" & TextBox5.Text.ToString & "','" & html & "')"))
MsgBox("Success! You have Successfully created a new course, " & TextBox1.Text.ToString)
Me.Visible = False
The error I get is:
A first chance exception of type 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException' occurred in MySql.Data.dll
Is there a problem with changing the column length in table and using comboboxes that display a partial list of the records from that table.I had a column(Name) that was 18 chars long. I would then display only a subset of those names in a combobox by not listing records where a column called privileges was set to X. This and other uses of combobox worked fine till I increased the column length to 24. The combobox no longer filters on the privileges field though when I select the column priviliges after my selection it will display the value X.

My problem is with the tickets table, I have listed the user that created the ticket, the tech who will solve the ticket and a user that over sees the ticket. All three users reference the users table. So how do I can I query the tickets table and get all three users that reference the same table storing the users?
Table1: Tickets
1) Ticketnumber
2) EnteredBy User 100
3) Issue
[code]....
What I can do now is something like this:
Select Ticketnumber, EnteredBy, Issue, UserName FROM Tickets INNER JOIN Users
ON Tickets.EnteredBy = Users.UserID
How can I update local dataset with mysql database without making duplicates. Assuming I set some column in mysql as primary key, which has unique string.
adapter.fill will just add duplicates, but adapter.clear before that is not an option.
So I want to update if the key column is the same with mysql data and if there is option for ignore adding new row.
[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?
View 6 RepliesWhat i have going on, is i have a MySQL connector as a resource on my application, and im basically trying to connect to my MySQL server, to either a) register a new account, or b) check that the account exists and they are premium, and login, Now what i have run into problems with is: My MySQL Database Name has a _ in it which VB is not allowing for some strange reason.
The code i am using is below
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient
Public Class Form1
Function UpdateRecord(ByVal query As String) As Integer
[CODE]...
How i can allow the _ into the application, because the only databases that don't have a _ in the user or dbname are a) Paid ones which i DO NOT have the money for or self hosted ones, i cannot leave my computer on 24/7
The name "Debit" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted.

View 3 RepliesI have the following code to get the column names from my Microsoft Access database.THE PROBLEM is that the stupid thing orders it alphabetically for me. View 3 RepliesI have to create a report that lists tests that a student has taken and how they answered each question...the column header layout (roughly) looks like:
Test #1 1 2 3 4 5 Test #2 1 2 3 4 5
TestA A B C D E TestB C C B C E
The problem is that the Gridview doesn't seem to like repetitive column names and is renaming the second set of Question #s to something else.
