Feb 13, 2010I play a game and in the game you acquire skills which you can display on the screen in a box very similar to a data grid. The grid has 3 columns and X number of rows.Column 1 is the name of the skill, column 2 has a descriptive term like "Beginner" and column has the number of points you have acquired in that skill. So it would look something like this:[code]Remember that it is in a data grid so it has cells like an Excel spreed sheet.The program that I use is able to parse the skill name and the points and save that information outside the game to a n area in the program.My question is, is this possible to do something similar in VB? That is something like, Press a hot key, with will get a screen shot, parse the data and save to a data grid in my VB program.

Mar 18, 2012I am trying to read a 16bit binary file (tif image) and pixel values of the image ranges from 1200 to 4500. I tried to use BinaryReader using ReadUInt16 but I get EndOfStreamException Unhandled error. ReadByte method works fine with an 8bit tif file. I do not know how to read a 16bit image file using binaryReader. Shouldn't I use ReadUInt16 since values of pixels range from 1200 to 4500?

Oct 3, 2009I'm trying to make a program that can read .mp3 data (Such as Artist, Album, Year, Track number, etc), but I need to be able to do two things that I have no clue how to do:
1. Read starting from a specified string (E.G, On one line it states: [code]
2. Read until a specified string (E.G, On the previously stated line,I need to read starting from what I said, up until.
VS 2010 - Image Resources - Make A Picture Box And Import An Image
Sep 17, 2010I made a picture box and imported an image named Title.jpg. Later I made adjustments to the picture and imported it again without deleting the original(mistake). The new one had the name automatically changed to Title1.jpg. So I deleted the original image from resources and renamed Title1.jpg back to Title.jpg.
Now I got two problems. First, only Title.jpg is on the solution explorer, but Title1.jpg(along with Title.jpg) still pops up on the resource list when I click on Image property of the picture box. There's only the name and no picture, and I don't see a delete option. How do I get rid of it? Second, even though I changed the image to the new Title.jpg in the picture box, the old one is displayed when running the app. What's up with that?

Mar 27, 2012Been away from coding for almost 10 years, trying to get back into it but am a bit rusty. I have been asked to write a program that will allow users on a network to write hire data, driver data, job calander etc to a SQL database. The program works perfectly at the moment apart from one thing.
The program must allow the users to add an image to a drivers record to have on file, I have read loads of different forums, tutorials etc on how to do this and have managed to get my program to size the image properly and store it as binary data (i think) in the SQL database. I am now having problems doing the reverse and making the program read from the database and display the image in a picture box, the following is my code to save to the database

Opening each as a bitmap and reading the bitmap width and height works but of course is laborious and very slow .... I've read various JPEG file format papers but retrieving the image pixel width and height seems none too obvious. Is there a logical way in VB to get this info quickly? My jpeg's are bog-standard ones made using VB's "Bmap.Save(Fname, ImageFormat.Jpeg)".

VS 2010 ReadProcessMemory - Can't Read Enough?
Dec 15, 2010I've been using the readprocessmemory function to read some values from another program and it works just fine for small values. However when I'm trying to read something like 5000.123456789 or whatever it doesn't even display the 5000, it just displays something that seems kinda random. Now, I've had this problem before and it helped to just increase the iSize from 1 to 10, but now I can't increase it anymore for some reason. I tried to increase it to 100 but then I got a fatal error. Is there some way to get around this? I guess it could also be because I'm not trying to read an integer but a float, but there is no float in VB, so i tried double, but no go.
