Yesterday I was using VS 2010 just fine, I was doing my code and hitting F5 and if all was right it ran.Today I start up my computer again and load up VS though and...F5 does nothing and the little play button at the top is greyed out. This is the same on any of the programs I open up.How do I let myself test programs again?
View 2 RepliesIn the past few weeks, to speed up our database freshening process, I've created a couple of extra programs, basically copies of the exe file. The program itself, accesses web pages, images etc and uses threads to do so. The second program uses LIMIT 300,100 and the third LIMIT 600,100, to make sure they don't work on the same records.
Before the last few weeks, one occurrence of the program used to run without problem, from the task scheduler all through the day. Only one occurrence of each exe can run at a time.Since theres now three programs running, .net 2.0, on xp, the program often seems to get stuck and never ends. I have to kill it from task manager.
It runs fine in the IDE I just wonder if there would be any benefit from upgrading to vb.net 2010 ?
All of a sudden all vb programs running very slow in XP...... nothing has changed.I took the vb2008 complete out, and reinstalled...... and no difference. other programs like excel run as before, just all my vb2008 programs are really slow.....

What I am trying to do is find a program that lets other users simply load a VB form that I have coded and run/debug the program (like f5 in VB net) without installing the full VB download on their own computer. As VB presumably can not be coded to run from the operating system like C++, I need something easily downloadable to run VB programs (eg games, quizzes). Is there anything out there that could do this, without the full VB package?

VBNet2008 conversion is still normal, but when running the menu does not appear that waiting in line, then click on the menu bar of this menu appears, but not the font is in Unicode data is available. Expect you to help debug programs that run on VBNet2008 still running good access Menu fast as running on VB6. Also supported is Unicode font on VBNet2008 does not function for unicode font. When I made a program and tested it on the machine I have compiled it , all works well. I tested them even on my other computer works fine. Every time though when I passed the program to my friends computer or such , I got that common error message "A problem has encountered . tell Microsoft about this problem [Send Error Report] [Don't Send]. I checked my computer here is on XP SP3 with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed , same thing on my other computer. My friends computer is on an XP SP2 with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (no SP1).
View 3 RepliesI've coded this program in Windows XP 64 Bit. I also compiled it in Windows Vista 64 Bit. I've ran this program on 32 bit machines before and never had any problems. I purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 on it and i'm getting a "Not a valid Win32 Application" Error.

But rather than have it in a code form, I want to build it (partially), and then my workmate can add it into their programs (sort of, like the add reference for the .NET stuff).

This week I replaced my mother board with an IBM mother board using a Pentium 4 running Windows XP Pro. I install the programs but as soon as they start to run, they immediately shut down. If I run them in Visual Studio 2010, they run fine.
View 2 RepliesI'm making a small version of Spy++ and i would like to recreate the function that finds windows by dragging your mouse over it. Now that is pretty easy but one little annoyance is some windows minimize or loose focus ect when you bring the mouse pointer over them.
I would like to know if you can stop a program from gaining focus or minimizing. And i know i can get the handles of open windows by the EnumWindows function?

Say I had a program that launched programs and I wanted it to save the:Program Name, Program Location, Program Site, etc..So I am guessing the xml would looking something like:

I developed a windows form program that calls fortan routines (in seperate .exe files) for different purposes. I would like to create an install file that deploys not only my VB program, but all of the supporting code.
Is this possible with VB Express 2010? I tried to search for threads about this, but didn't find any that explicitily answered this question.
I started with VB 6.0 back when i was 14, I was mostly into coding programs that interacted with other programs. Recently I installed VB.net 2005 pro i got from school, and i grabbed few source codes that teach show interaction, I feel so dumb, i dont remember anything lol. It be great if you guys can share some source codes and other stuff in this field. also other day i was in dream spark and i am able to get copy of VS.net 2010 ultimate edition, are there a lot of major changes, cause i got 2 thick book for VB.net 2005..

What sites would you post your program on and getting the word out that there is a new program on the block and it does xyz. This is directed to freeware so there wouldn't be any advertising.

If we made programs in Visual Basic Express 2010 Trial are we allowed to keep the programs and distribute them freely on our sites and if we unistalled visual Basic can we keep the programs etc...
View 2 RepliesI've been programming in VB6 for years, I have decided to take the plunge into VB.net and C# 2010 but having a little problem understanding the big picture.In VB6 I could create user controls and save them as .ocx files, then use those .ocx's in other programs or on html pages. I am sure the same idea is present in VS 2010, I'm just not seeing it.Can anyone recommend a book or tutorial that will show me the big picture of all the aspects of the .net environment?
View 2 RepliesI have developed a program with vb2010, created an installer with installaware and installed the program on my develop laptop and on my normal desktop pc (both win 7 64bits, but program runs on 32 bits).So on my laptop it run perfectly, but when I try to run it on my desktop pc, the only thing I see is the admin message (the program needs admin rights) and than nothing happends (even checked the taskmanager, it shows the program for a short while and closes it even as fast as it opens).I don't know what went wrong, the installer checks the framework which is needed (4.0), but I have that already installed on my desktop pc.

View 6 Repliesim v ery new to VB, im designing a game launcher within VB and everything is very simply done. I have 4 buttons currently, 3 of them link to websites and work a charm, but what i need is a 4th button to launch a game via a .cmd file. I tried by using simple commands like:

Both of these options worked in executing the .cmd but it caused an error within it. The cmd works perfectly fine when executed manually from its directory but when i try and execute it via the launcher i get an error.

I have made a program.Copied the .exe file from "...my documents...indebug"onto an External harddisk.But when I put the harddisk into another pc and launch the program.I can not run it!It says something like "Missing .NET framework 04.03...." or something.Do i need to install VB on that pc too?Or do I need to update the framework? I'm tryin to run the program on a pc. Where I got NO admin-rights.

Basically what I have are two loops, one inside the other, that will run until the given condition is met. Exactly what I want. My problem is that I want to be able to use the controls, like buttons, while a loop is going on.
I originally did not think of this until I had built this part of my program, what I want to know is if there is a way to use controls while a loop is going on or if their is an alternative.
1)I know timers can be used to meet these goals, but they did not work out as I had hoped and using two timers (1 to represent each loop) I do not believe is efficient.
2)I have considered using recursion, but have found this may not be very efficient either and am not quite sure if this will do what I want.
These loops run as long as the number the user inputted. So it could theoretically run for 100,000+ times. I am not looking for speed, but it would be good if there were a faster method that allowed me to use controls while it loops.
