If I have an flv file how can I display the flv to play inside 2010? I tried the web browser function which will display a function like loading the page, but I am only interested in playing the file itself, is there a way to load a specific player that will load the flv file?

im v ery new to VB, im designing a game launcher within VB and everything is very simply done. I have 4 buttons currently, 3 of them link to websites and work a charm, but what i need is a 4th button to launch a game via a .cmd file. I tried by using simple commands like:

Both of these options worked in executing the .cmd but it caused an error within it. The cmd works perfectly fine when executed manually from its directory but when i try and execute it via the launcher i get an error.

Just tried it with a .bat file also getting the same issue of not being able to find the bin32

What I want it to do is to run the batch file without it opening if that makes sense. Right now this runs on a loop for 10 minutes and on every 2 second tick it opens and then closes the .bat. Which is really annoying to see a .bat open and close every two seconds. Is there anyway to get this process to run silently in the background so the user doesnt even know that it is running?
I am creating a visual basic program, which acts as a very simple GUI for another program. I have built the whole Visual Basic project, but I am unable to do one part, the most important part you could say. I have a button (button1) on a form, when the button is clicked, I want it to run a program, named 'mover.exe' which is located in the SAME FOLDER that my visual basic program will run from. The directory of this folder will change. So, there are two problems I have:
1 - To make the program run the .exe program when button1 is clicked (it also must be run with administrative privileges).
2 - To make the program always look for 'mover.exe' in the folder in which it is started from.
Inside a form, I would like to display a pdf file which is already available in my resources (template file "untitled"). In this pdf file, I have some fields which get their values from some texboxes in another form. My aim is, when the user triggers the button to call this form, it should insert the values inside the pdf file and display the output pdf inside the form.I have written the code to an extend but could not finish it myself after my many trials... Now here are the two things I cannot manage:I can use a directory to read the template pdf "untitled1.pdf". But my aim is to use the file inside my resources. can save the output file in a directory but this is not I want to do. I want to display the output pdf.

If I already know the PID, then I can retrieve the CreationDate (I assume which I can use to check for restarts? or is this the actual process creation/installation date) for each specific process, however if a restart occurs the PID will change and my script needs to know what the new PID is without me telling it!

I have a Windows form I would like to save the Ovals I created while running the form for use and review later I have been trying the SaveFileDialog but have not figured how to get my data out to the file that is created. I have read about using datatable but there again I'm working with that but need to find how to load all my Oval parameters into the table so I can recreate the current look of the form.

I've got a form that opens up whilst data is being pulled from the database in another form (basically a box to say it's loading), the form opens when I want it to and the gif shows but doesn't run until the code on the other form has finished.

I am trying to download a file off my web server (easy) but the file its downloading is the updated version of the file running. I finally was able to program my automatic update software the program simply downloads a .txt file from my web server, reads it, and if the the version = (new version here) then download. If not, then go to another form. The problem I am getting though, is when the version is outdated, the file will go to download the new .exe and it gets and error saying "File already exists"

I am trying to build a simple AutoUpdate application using VB.NET. It was quite simple. That is, I put the newest ZIP file in my hosting site, and then download it using WebClient.DownloadFileAsync. After it get downloaded, I extract it using [URL]
But each time I run the unzip.exe using Process.start, Windows 7 always show Open File Security.
Is it possible for VB.NET to bypass such security restriction?

Finished with my overlay program. Now I want to give users the ability to show their own images. [URL] That is an example of the program. Currently on the right I just have a drop down box with that image tied to a form. I want to have a blank form that allows people to select from files on their own computer to be displayed. The idea would be to paste values into a Windows form, which then finds each line that begins with that value (a 5 digit number) and removes those lines from the file, and then removes the gaps.

Firstly I want to state this doesn't affect the usability of my program. I made a GUI for an old cmd line program and when running the GUI's form will freeze up and be completely unresponsive. This is annoying since you can't move the form and if you open something over the form then move/close it you get the affect in the attached pic. Attached pic is the program running and the windows calculator being moved around over it.
Is there a way I can have the form stay responsive while the program is running? I don't need for any of the buttons, text boxes, etc to be editable while the program is running.
I'm developing a VB.net windows form app in Visual Studio 2010. I want to be able to drag the form to another location or minimize it while the app is running. Is that possible? Here's and example. I have a form with 1 button. Here's the code associated with the button:

I can move the form or minimize it until I push the button. Then it freezes until the code stops running.
what i currently have is the main form that then when a user presses a button it runs some functions that loops through some files and changes them and then copys them to another location the functions can take quite some time. what i want to is when the button is pressed it opens another form with a textbox on it and when it has finished 1 cycle of the loop is outputs a line to the textbox and tells the user weather or not it has been sucsessfull.

I have developed a program with vb2010, created an installer with installaware and installed the program on my develop laptop and on my normal desktop pc (both win 7 64bits, but program runs on 32 bits).So on my laptop it run perfectly, but when I try to run it on my desktop pc, the only thing I see is the admin message (the program needs admin rights) and than nothing happends (even checked the taskmanager, it shows the program for a short while and closes it even as fast as it opens).I don't know what went wrong, the installer checks the framework which is needed (4.0), but I have that already installed on my desktop pc.

This is the same on any of the programs I open up.How do I let myself test programs again?
View 2 RepliesI have made a program.Copied the .exe file from "...my documents...indebug"onto an External harddisk.But when I put the harddisk into another pc and launch the program.I can not run it!It says something like "Missing .NET framework 04.03...." or something.Do i need to install VB on that pc too?Or do I need to update the framework? I'm tryin to run the program on a pc. Where I got NO admin-rights.

The problem is once the code is executed I can no longer move or interact with any form boxes, reliably at least . Sometimes there will be a period of delay where I can move it for an instance. Is there anyway I can make it so that my form is able to be moved while the program is running?
View 3 RepliesI have form1 and form2. A button on Form1 calls a thread background process (below). That process processes the command and when its done should close form2. I'm opening form2 within the current thread but trying to close it in the background thread. This is because if i close it in the current thread it closes immediately. I included the 2 functions below and what I have tried in the inline comments. Form2 is a simple form, basically just an animated gif. It is to show the user that something is happening(like a status bar) then close when its complete. I tried running different priorities instead of different threads but due to the results threading seems to behave the best. I'd like to keep access to both forms during the process, the pc, and screen refreshes realtime.[code]
