My google skills have failed me on this, so I'm hoping that someone could point me in the right direction.I have a windows forms application that writes data to a datatable, which is then manipulated & saved into an access database. I am now looking to retrieve the data and write it out into a word document.

I am trying to save a ListObject from a .NET 3.5 Excel 2007 VSTO Workbook to a new sheet (done) and save that new sheet to a new workbook (done) without that workbook requiring the VSTO customization file (!!!!!).
Has anyone had any luck with this? The only way I've had any success is just saving as a CSV file but that's not exactly acceptable in this case. I'd rather not save to a CSV just to copy back to a XLS file.

I have a datatable that has a resource in one field and hours used in another, it looks like this -

What I want to do is be able to create a summary of the data table above that groups multiple occurrences of a resource and adds up the hours used for that resource, creating a summary that looks like this -

Manager 6.5
Accountant 4
Field Staff 6
Administrator 7
We have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

All goes fine with development and running on development PC, but when I publish it for offline installation, and deploy it on Client PC having Windows XP with Office 2007, it gives error on oDoc.SaveAs2 line, and program crashes.

I'm looking at an old web app I wrote and it is taking about an hour to read 4500 records from a DataTable so it can write them to a CSV file.
The DataTable contains... 376 columns
At least, I think that's what Excel's NL column converts to. I just looked up the column count now and had no idea there were so many. Our software vendor hasn't realized the value of dynamic sql statements for this process, so every software "upgrade" just keeps adding more columns rather than only selecting the ones needed. I cannot alter the SQL statement that generates the data
Depending on the data type, the data needs to be formatted in a specific format Data does contains special characters, such as commas The slow part is reading the data. Getting the data from the SQL server and writing it to a CSV is fast.

I have application in .net 2.0 in which I have a DataTable object globally in my application and have different dataviews in whole application.
When an action performed i have create many threads lets say 5 in which data is read from different dataview, meanwhile while 2/3 threads are reading data(not all 2 more left to read data) a thread write data in datatable. So we get exceptions like "Enumeration update" or "parameter not null" type.
I have use ReadWriteLock for this but do not find any luck it gets stop on ReaderWriterLock.AcquireWriterLock().
How can I open a text file, find a certain word in the text file, and then, just before that word, write a line of text to the file - then save the file?

What we have done is displayed a popup window, and at each stage of the rendering the text is made Changed. I need to display the window using multithreading. How to achieve this.

When published it consits of several files including a Setup.exe, several msi files etc.Due to the fact that my company's security policy won't allow me to store dlls and exes on the server I need an alternative way to provide all the necessary stuff to the end user. I thoght it would be enough if I:
1) execute the setup.exe file on each client machine (it says everything got properly installed)
2) upload the xxx.dotm file to sharepoint and register it
3) edit policy settings
but it doesn't. When a user creates a new Document inside sharepoint using "New"->"xxx" the requested document loads without any error message and show the document but Word won't load any extensions / ribbons etc.

I've never worked with VSTO and I've recently read all kinds of stuff about it. So I ask a theoretical question. I'm trying to make an addin which should (using buttons in it's own ribbon tab) upload the document to my website (it's like slideshare). The problem is that this file may be already uploaded and the user may be just trying to update it.
So I need a way to tell if this file has already been uploaded. I know the prediction can't be 100% accurate, that's why I'm going to ask the user with a dialog, but I need it to be fairly clever to alert the user if the file MAY BE is already uploaded.
This assumption can be client-side only, with a database of some sort (in the addin itself).I thought of recording the file's name and based on this I can decide if the file is new or it's already uploaded.
PS. Working on Office 2010 with the latest version of VSTO in VS 2010. My main .net language is VB but samples in C# are more than welcome (if you have ones).
