VS 2010 - Where Is Record Macro Button
May 26, 2010I have just upgraded to Visual Basic 2010 Express edition. But cannot seem to find how to record a macro. There is no longer a Tools < Macros menu.

Jun 10, 2009I have used Visual Studio 2008 (VB) to create a custom tab and button group with custom buttons. When any of those buttons are clicked, I simply want to run a macro (add-in) that will already be loaded when Excel is launched. The main examples I've seen create an Excel object in the VB code and then call the macro, but that seems like unnecessary overhead, since the custom buttons are are already loaded into Excel.

Quit An Excel Macro Externally (from A GUI Not From Macro)
Oct 21, 2010I'm have a program (GUI) that interfaces with excel to execute macros. We're using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to call/run the macros and this works great.What I can't figure out is a good way to cancel the macros from the GUI.One idea we had was to use the excel.application variable that runs the macros to write a "stop" value to a specific cell in the workbook, and in the macros (they are all mostly loops), check for the "stop" value in that cell. This crashes my GUI with this The program '[2188] BVLReports.vshost.exe: Managed' has exited with code -336589910 (0xebf00baa).And excel gets tied up, and won't respond. I know how to Exit Sub from within the macro if the "stop" value exists, so I don't need answers on how to check/cancel from inside the macro. Any ideas on a better way to write this "stop" value or a better way to cancel the macros externally?

I've gotten as far as finding the beginning and end of the string as instances of VirtualPoint. Now I'm trying to select from the first VirtualPoint to the second. And I can't figure it out. I know the VirtualPoints are correct, because I'm using MessageBox.Show to tell me their values when I run the macro. Jul 6, 2011My system still show the "record has been added" and save/insert the data even if i chose the "no" button. I think I miss something on our codes. Should I add something?
Here's the scenario: If "Yes" (button) will be clicked, it'll save the data and clear the fields. If "no" (button), it'll clear the fields and shouldn't save anything.

Button To Insert A New Record?
Mar 31, 2009I have this form that acts as a patient history form, so when I click the "New record" button I want the form to be ready for new input and for it to save the data when I'm done. I also need a button to delete records, but I am completely terrible with databases so I have no idea what I need to do to add records. I assume I can just have the form clear to be ready for the input but I don't know how to get it to save the data.
The whole thing works in Access but I guess that's older VB or something, they were using the acRecord to be able to cycle through all the records of the database. What is VB.net's equivalent?

Jun 19, 2010Got a problem that's hopefully a quick fix. I've got a homework assignment where I have to link an access database file and allow the user to go through the records, add/delete records and save the file.
When I run the program everything seems to work fine, except when I hit the next button to go to the next record, it always skips 2 ahead, from 1 to 3 and 3 to 5. The previous does it also and when I click the delete it deletes 2 records. I can't figure out why it's doing this. The table we linked was already created for us so I don't believe that it is a problem with that. One weird thing I noticed is that it shows that there are 5 records so I wouldn't think that it is seeing 2 as 1.

May 3, 2011This my first time using a DatetimePicker so hopefully I'm missing something obvious.I have a bindingsource that has a datetime field that is set to use the short date format. The field is bound to a datetimepicker control.The problem is if I click the Add button on the navigator a new record is displayed and the dtp shows the current date. But if I then save the record the date is not saved to the database.If I go into the dtp control and select a date, it saves the date just fine.
